Get out of my country, democrats

We need faster deportation – of democrats.

Barack Obama and democrats have created a genuine crisis. We are being invaded and there is no end in sight. Worse, they know it and they want more of it. It appears that the goal is to destroy the sovereignty of America.

democrat John Lewis:

“We are all connected. We can’t just build a wall or a fence and say no more. This is America. Our doors are open.”

There it is. The call for the end of American sovereignty. For how many are the doors open? For tens of millions of children from Central America? And subsequently their families? Illiterate, infected and unskilled?

More from these brain dead democrats:

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) claimed America already has “extensive border security” while Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said the well-being of the illegal immigrant children “must be our first priority.”

Reps. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Steve Horsford (D-NV) pushed for more guest-worker visas, which are coveted by big-business and high-tech interests, that would lower the wages of American workers. Numerous scholars and studies have concluded that America has a surplus – not a shortage – of high-tech workers.

Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) said taxpayers should pay for more lawyers for illegal immigrant children, and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) went further, saying “every” illegal immigrant child should get legal representation.

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) insisted that amnesty legislation would “raise wages” even though the Congressional Budget Office determined that the influx of more foreign workers would lower the wages of American workers. For that reason, U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner Peter Kirsanow wrote a letter to the Congressional Black Caucus urging them to vote against amnesty bills that would detrimentally impact black Americans at the lower rungs of the economic ladder the most.

The well-being of the illegal immigrant children “must be our first priority.”

Really?

Over American inner city children? Over American veterans? Over our American homeless?

As it is, illegals already have rights Americans don’t have. As pointed out last night on O’Reilly, illegals are getting free legal representation for civil matters. No American has such a right.

Illegal aliens get free housing, free education and free food, sometimes at posh resorts. American children don’t get the same considerations. Neither do vets or homeless US citizens.

The big question- who is to pay for all of this?

democrats say they want “immigration reform.” They don’t. They are full of sh*t. What they want is funding of their anti-American activities. They want money to provide illegals with all the comforts one could desire. Ironically, democrats don’t care about illegal alien kids until the second they cross the US border and become a potential voter. They don’t lift a finger to improve the condition in the countries from which these invading children come and thus are not interested in a real solution to this crisis.

democrats don’t want to speed up deportation. So what is the point of immigration reform other than funding our own national suicide? Amusingly, some democrats are all for allowing illegal immigration as long as the illegals aren’t dumped in their state. NIMBY’s to the end.

At the Daily Signal, illegals are protesting across from a border patrol station in McAllen Texas. One woman is yelling “It is our duty to fight for freedom!”

I do not take kindly to illegal aliens making demands of me in my own country. What I would demand is that these aliens fight for freedom in their own countries.

Want to stay? Guarantee us we won’t have to pay for you. Guarantee us you won’t take free housing, food or education. Guarantee us you won’t be a financial burden on us. Then maybe you can stay.

America’s doors are open- to legal immigration. They’re open to those who abide by our laws. We cannot absorb tens millions of dependents without financial ruin. One of the things that make democrats so loathsome is their innate propensity to run up a huge bill for their largesse and burden others with the responsibility of payment.

As someone whose Mother was the war bride of a combat veteran and who was harassed by INS upon immigration and as the employer of an office manager from England who had to guarantee to INS that she wouldn’t be a financial burden to America as she sought citizenship I have this message for democrats:

Get out of my country. Stop trying to f**k it up for your own selfish political ends.

To paraphrase from The Big Lebowski:

“Smokey, this is not ‘Nam, this is America. There are rules.”

This is the future if left to democrats.

This man has been here as an illegal alien (accompanying two children who might not have been his) less than one month.
He has already (allegedly) murdered someone and kidnapped someone else.

They all know what happened to many of their classmates who couldn’t make it out of failing schools.
They want more school choice, not less.
They want parents to have the right to pick their child’s school, not the government.
They want more charter schools.

Well, Obama, the ball’s in your court.

On September 11, 2001, America lost 2,996 American lives at the hands of Islamic terrorists. Since then, we have seen a man, that political correctness allowed to remain in our Army, slaughter more Americans. Legal immigrants killed Americans at the Boston Marathon, and maimed many, many more. Yet not one person in America questions our government’s attempt at finding, and jailing prospective terrorists. Not one.

Since then, the left has demanded the end of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, based mostly on the 6,821 American lives that have been lost in those wars, an average of 525 per year.

Yet we hear all these voices, specifically on the left, demanding we allow illegals to stay. How would they react if the headline in the New York Times read “56,940 American lives lost at the hands of illegal aliens since 2001“?

The national average is 12 people dying because of either being murdered by illegals or in traffic fatalities caused by illegals PER DAY. If Islamic terrorists murdered 12 Americans a day, would the media fail to report it because it made Muslims look bad?

So where are the headlines in national news papers? Where is the reporting on the alphabet networks? Where are the pictures of dead police officers, dead children, dead mothers who were killed by illegal aliens by a media that was more than happy to show flag draped coffins returning from Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush Administration?

And where are the honest reporters who should be reporting on the impending health crisis we are going to see as these disease ridden illegal children are put in our schools starting the end of next month?

Recently, in Texas, an illegal alien who had broken into a private home decided on his way out, after he had stolen the family’s cell phones and their computer, that he would sexually their 9 year old daughter. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the illegal had been deported 5 times. Did that story make the national news anywhere but Breitbart? Did the national news report on Sgt. Rodney Johnson when he was shot in the face by an illegal in Houston?

Illegal immigration is the singular biggest threat to our nation, but no one wants to talk about it because if you do, you are a “racist” who simply doesn’t like “brown” people, forgetting that we are finding Chinese, Syrians, Libyans, Iranians and Iraqis, who are paying as much as $50,000.00 to have a coyote sneak them across the border.

And what will all these people on the left say when there is a TB outbreak in their school like there was in Texas in 2011? How about scabies? Or maybe having your grandfather die from whooping cough that is especially hazardous to older people? H1N1? No problem. It is an equal opportunity disease that doesn’t care if you are Democrat or Republican.

Wake up folks.

I’m not jumping in here to debate immigration policy, except to note that the immigration policies actually espoused and followed by Obama aren’t all that different from those of George W. Bush and Rand Paul and a great many other conservatives and libertarians. Objectively speaking, the rates of deportations under Obama vastly exceed those which occurred in the previous (GOP) administration. Objectively speaking, the Obama administration is following the letter of the 2008 law almost unanimously passed by both chambers of Congress and signed by President Bush. Objectively speaking, a large majority of Americans favor Dream Act policies.

If you actually want to accomplish something relating to your views on immigration policy, you’d do much better persuading the American people and lobbying to change the 2008 law than engaging in the theatrics of demonizing Obama and demanding impeachment and the like.

As a Democrat, I have to say that I find the circular firing squad activities of the GOP regarding differing views on immigration policy to be politically advantageous.

As we all know homes in pricy areas can be well over $1 million – EACH.
But the ”Baptist” children’s welfare group was willing to pony up $4 million to buy a 600 room Texas resort (for the children.)
Of course the GOVERNMENT would run it and we would foot all of that set of bills.
But, someday, the government might be done with it.
And the ”Baptists,” would own it outright for their $4 million.
Nice deal if you can get it.
Bad press caused the whole thing to fall through.

@Nanny G: You mentioned:

Bad press caused the whole thing to fall through.

Sure ’nuff about time

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal):

I’m not jumping in here to debate immigration policy,

Yes, you are as you go on to “debate immigration policy.” Why be so dishonest about your motives?

Objectively speaking, the rates of deportations under Obama vastly exceed those which occurred in the previous (GOP) administration.

I have proven that to be false when your comrade, Greggie, first made the claim as is being reported in the left wing media. Even Jeh Johnson admitted, in a Congressional hearing, that the procedure for reporting on the number of deportations is different from other administrations as the Obama administration now claims as “deported” anyone who was turned around at the border, not a practice done by any other administration.

Objectively speaking, the Obama administration is following the letter of the 2008 law almost unanimously passed by both chambers of Congress and signed by President Bush. Objectively speaking, a large majority of Americans favor Dream Act policies.

Objectively speaking, you don’t know shite from Shinola. The bill, that the left is touting as “Bush’s” work, was originally called The Trafficked Victims Protection Act, passed in 2000 and signed by President Bill Clinton. It was “reauthorized” in 2005, when some rocket scientist in the Congress added William Wilberforce’s name to it. It was also “reauthorized” in 2007 and again in 2008, when it pass on a majority voice vote eliminating the ability for President Bush to veto the bill.

Now, had you bothered to research the bill, and actually read it, in spite of John Conyers saying he doesn’t read bills because they would take two lawyers and days to do so, you would have learned:

a) the bill only covers those children that have been “trafficked” for sexual purposes, not those that have been smuggled by coyotes or their own parents

b) it only covers those children who were not brought by their parents, or a family member. Children accompanied by their parents, or a family member, are not eligible for the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Act.

c) starting in 2009, the bill requires HHS to provide an annual report to Congress on the sexes, ages and nations of origins of the children from non-contiguous nations that have been “repatriated.” (repatriated = deported)
Section 235, to be exact.

As a Democrat, I have to say that I find the circular firing squad activities of the GOP regarding differing views on immigration policy to be politically advantageous.

As a Democrat, you would blame 2% unemployment on Republicans claiming that they were falling down on their job. I remember when Nancy Pelosi, from your failing state, was whining when unemployment was 5% and we had a larger percentage of the work force actually working.

Illegal immigration is going to destroy many communities. If you want to do something about it, address the over 4,000 Americans that are murdered each year by illegal aliens. Until then, perhaps you should do a bit of your own research before you start spouting what you are being told by the lap dog media.

Notice that the amount given to the Baptist Child and Family Services went from $1,422,645.00 in 2012 to $65,551,994.00 in 2013. Also take note of what that money was for (unaccompanied alien children) in 2013. Anyone want to tell me the Obama administration didn’t know this crisis was pending in 2013?

@retire05: A really nice rebuttal to the dufus lib — I wanted to reply to him but am out of patience with abject stupidity and my comments would have been censored.
They just can’t give up on: “It is Boosche’s fault”!

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal): Keeping the propaganda going, eh?

You can’t be that stupid…

…but you sound stupid.

Better go run cover for the democrats somewhere else. You only look like an idiot regurgitating all the lib talking points we’re used to hearing.

Objective? Has that ever worked on anyone?

Hi Retire, Thanks, as always, for your points of view. I have the time and energy for only a brief rejoinder…

“Failing state?” Hardly. Our state debt to GDP ratio is the same as that of Texas and we are now running a healthy budget surplus. Our unemployment rate has fallen from 12.4% from the Bush recession period to a current 7.8% despite the lack of the disproportionate energy sector which largely shielded Texas from the recession. Our unemployment rate continues to fall at a rate faster than that of the nation at large. The health care uninsured rate in Texas leads the nation at close to 25%; that in California has fallen from 22% to 11% in the less than one year since California elected to embrace, rather than fight, ObamaCare. We continue to receive 10 times the venture capital investment as received by Texas. We’ve effectively ratified the Kyoto Treaty and we are doing a great service to the rest of the nation to see if carbon control will destroy the economy or be a boon to the economy, while protecting the environment.

With regard to murders committed by “illegals,” I was unable to find any reliable statistics at all. But I did find that there were 24,000 murders committed in the USA in 1993 and 14,000 committed last year. Given the large increase in illegals during this time, one would think that the rate would have gone up, not down. And there are about 315 million non-illegals compared to only 11 million illegals, so the idea that the illegals account for more than one quarter of all murders seems entirely far fetched.

But, again, your challenge is to convince the people who actually vote in general elections that bills such as the comprehensive immigration act passed by the Senate but tabled by the House are not in the nation’s interest and that the President’s tacit “dreamer” amnesty was also not in the nation’s interest. Actually, not just the nation, also many in the GOP leadership and conservative/libertarian sector in general. Rubio, Bush, Paul, Jindal, etc.

I’ve employed several people who were the anchor baby children of erstwhile illegals, and, living here in CA, I have continuous contact with people of questionable documentation status. My own view is that most immigrants from Mexico are energetic, motivated, hard working, and honest. I’ve read that, long term, the economic effect of illegals on local government tax resources is negative, while that at the federal level is positive. Overall capitalist economic benefits are, I believe, positive. I think that my own views are no more radical than are those of many mainstream conservatives — not a majority, perhaps, but certainly “many.”

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal):

Our unemployment rate has fallen from 12.4% from the Bush recession period to a current 7.8% despite the lack of the disproportionate energy sector which largely shielded Texas from the recession.

Larry, I understand you are a dyed in the wool progressive, but I intend to hold you to the same standards you progressives use against Republicans. To begin with, I have heard nothing out of any progressive (left winger) except that since 9-11 was on George Bush’s watch, he is the one responsible for it. Now, holding you to the same standard, it bears pointing out that California’s 12% unemployment rate happened under the Obama administration. In the same amount of months that Bush held office when 9-11 happened.

The California unemployment rate went above 8% in October, 2008 and has remained above 8% until May of this year, 5 1/2 years. It went above 12% in September, 2009 (Obama’s watch) and remained above 12% for 18 months.

Texas, in contrast, had it’s highest unemployment rate of 8.2% and it was over 8% for only 24 months. It is currently 2 1/2 percentage rates under California, and while you are bleeding population, Texas is increasing its population. So while you try to paint this rosy picture of California unemployment, the fact is it took you twice as long to climb out of high rates as it did Texas.

The health care uninsured rate in Texas leads the nation at close to 25%; that in California has fallen from 22% to 11% in the less than one year since California elected to embrace, rather than fight, ObamaCare.

At what cost? And how many of those “uninsured” has California dumped into Medicaid?

We continue to receive 10 times the venture capital investment as received by Texas.

But wait…………..I thought venture capitalism is an dirty word to you progressives? Funny, now you’re bragging on it. Oh, well, there is no unscrambling a progressive mind, I suppose.

We’ve effectively ratified the Kyoto Treaty and we are doing a great service to the rest of the nation to see if carbon control will destroy the economy or be a boon to the economy, while protecting the environment.

Well, goody, goody for you. Of course, if California meets Kyoto goals, it will be the only one who has signed off on Kyoto that has. But then, in your arrogance, I guess you think that you can pressure China to go along. Fat chance of that. Someone needs to tell you that the whole earth is affected by what China does and so you raising taxes and chasing off business with your obscene “green” laws will not do one damn thing to help.

But, again, your challenge is to convince the people who actually vote in general elections that bills such as the comprehensive immigration act passed by the Senate but tabled by the House are not in the nation’s interest and that the President’s tacit “dreamer” amnesty was also not in the nation’s interest.

Any time you see the word “comprehensive” in any bill, fight it with all you have in you. And no, Obama’s “dreamer” amnesty was not in the nation’s best interest. Too bad you can’t admit it was a pure political ploy to try to garner Hispanic votes.

My own view is that most immigrants from Mexico are energetic, motivated, hard working, and honest. I’ve read that, long term, the economic effect of illegals on local government tax resources is negative, while that at the federal level is positive.

Does that include the MS-13 gangbangers that started in LA? Or the 50% of Hispanic kids that are dropping out of California high schools? Or maybe you are just happy to have someone mow your lawn, being a California elitist who doesn’t like to break a sweat? You have approximately 5 million illegals in California. Are you going to tell me they are not a net drain on your state? And how is it a net positive federally when so many illegals don’t pay federal income taxes, but require the services provided to them by the states? My, my, what sympathy you seem to have for those who, with their first action, break our laws by entering our nation illegally.

I think that my own views are no more radical than are those of many mainstream conservatives — not a majority, perhaps, but certainly “many.”

I think what you know about “mainstream” conservatives could be put in the eye of a gnat. Living in LaLa Land as you do, you are clearly out of touch with “mainstream” conservatives.

@DrJohn:

The truth is that most Democrats, at least of the California ilk, are open borders proponents. They don’t see the problems related to illegal immigration; they see prospective voters. That is one of the reasons they fight voter I.D. laws so hard.

People like Larry are not worried about his children contracting scabies, TB, or lice at a public school. He’s not worried about illegals moving into his tony neighborhood with its fences and security systems. He’s not worried that crime will go up as these illegals settle in the barrios and it is the native Hispanic that will be paying the price for his bleating heart.

Nor do progressive like Larry care that some of these children are being released to other illegals with no proof that the person they are being released to is really a family member. How many girls have been raped on the trek across Mexico? Ever heard of the “pantie tree” that has been found? How many young children will be sold into domestic servitude or prostitution?

And what happens when these children do hit our schools in just a few weeks? School budgets, already set, will be stretched to the breaking point. These illegal children are “high need” and will require many more services than the normal American student.

No, Larry buys into the whole “humanitarian” clap trap put out by the left. Damn the consequences.

Perhaps if they all changed their names to Elián González…

There is no shortage of high tech workers. Silicon Valley and the US Chamber of Commerce just want to import cheaper labor.

Blah blah blah… Bush did it… blah blah blah.

Well, I couldn’t stand either Bush so you can save your “BDI” whining and crying.

Seriously, some of you sound just like children.

All the “ya but Bush did it” propaganda in the world doesn’t change the fact that these immigrants need to be sent back home to be taken care of by their own parents and countries. The truth is that U.S. can no longer afford to be the nanny of the world’s troubled peoples. This is not to mention that the U.S. should not be involved in this criminal child smuggling scheme.

Meanwhile, the idiots that defend this child smuggling lack the integrity and/or intelligence required to admit and understand that this child smuggling could bankrupt the country and that this could result in chaos for everyone.

@retire05: I really liked your comprehensive comment.
I wanted to point out one historic thing concerning this part:

The California unemployment rate went above 8% in October, 2008 and has remained above 8% until May of this year, 5 1/2 years. It went above 12% in September, 2009 (Obama’s watch) and remained above 12% for 18 months.

So, what happened in May of 2014 so that even CA’s unemployment rate finally dropped?
Heh.
Expiration of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program May 31, 2014.
In other words, no more 99 weeks of unemployment payments.
Only the 26 weeks that we had before Obama.
Reward bad behavior and you get more bad behavior.
Once extended unemployment payments ended (May 31, 2014) the time a person stayed unemployed dropped precipitously.

@retire05: Well said! But how do we “wake up the folks” when overwhelmingly the Obama Propaganda industry known as the MSM is loudly and shrilly not only blocking the true message but in fact rewriting the facts to back up this lawless twerp in the White House?

Just a few minutes ago, i saw that a police department in Maryland labeled anti-illegal immigration graffiti a hate crime and one knows that is what will get the attention of the numbskulls in the press and in turn will be pushed on an electorate that doesn’t want to know the facts any more. One can bet old Barak and his buddy Commandant holder will jump right on the hate crime thing though so as to try once again to protect their phoney baloney asses!

The facts are clear. The borders are not secure! We have gang members and worse crossing and this administration calls it a humanitarian crises! We are being lied to as to the true scope of the problem and hell, even Congressmen ans Senators are not allowed to see what is really going on! And lets not forget, We The People do not have a right to know the truth as evidenced by the new Press moron yesterday:

(Thanks to the Daily Caller)

The White House won’t reveal where it is housing thousands of Central American juvenile migrants because their privacy rights trump Americans’ right to know what‘s happening in their neighborhoods, press secretary Josh Earnest declared July 16.

“The public does have a right to know what’s happening… [but] at the same time, there are privacy rights that are included in the law that this administration is committed to enforcing and following,” Earnest told Ed Henry, Fox News’ White House correspondent.

“We are not surprised in the least to see the Obama administration imitate the smugglers,” William Gheen, founder of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, told The Daily Caller. “This is how smuggling operations work, this is what the smuggler-in-chief wants — secret planes and secret buses full of illegal immigrants.”

The truth is out there for all to see as to the open treason and worse coming from this administration and it’s allies, and lets not forget the spineless so called Republicans who don’t really have the balls to stand up to the tyranny.

One can call it an invasion or whatever, but one cannot hide from the real facts. This President and the crybaby leftists have refused to enforce the laws of this land and in the process with the influx of ILLEGALS of all sorts, have put this country (along with their other lies and scandals) in deep danger. That in my eyes is treason of the first degree!

So again, the facts must somehow be forced out through the stone wall of the imbecile administration and all Government entities as well as the “heads up their ass” media. How does one get the message to the brainwashed citizenry when the powers that be (and most politicians are guilty on this point, either side. Why tell the truth when a brain dead populace will listen to the lies and false promises) don’t want it out there?

@Nanny G: Just because someone loses their unemployment bene’s does NOT mean tat they got their old job back or that it even still exists — do not forget all the people that have been forced into early retirement or who have been able to get on disability that could still be working at te jobs they had in 2008.

@joetote:

: Well said! But how do we “wake up the folks” when overwhelmingly the Obama Propaganda industry known as the MSM is loudly and shrilly not only blocking the true message but in fact rewriting the facts to back up this lawless twerp in the White House?

As I have an appointment I have to keep, I will come back later and answer your question. The answer is important.

@joetote: Early in his show today stated the most important facts re the low info types – paraphrasing: – they are too dumb to realize they are low info and therefore do not and will not listen to additional or contrary information — probably will be up on his site in the transcript

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal): [California has] effectively ratified the Kyoto Treaty and we are doing a great service to the rest of the nation to see if carbon control will destroy the economy or be a boon to the economy, while protecting the environment.

Answer is coming in….
Australia is the first developed country to repeal legislation aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, which the government said was too costly for businesses and consumers.
By John Zubrzycki, July 17, 2014
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Asia-Pacific/2014/0717/Australia-repeals-controversial-carbon-tax.-Will-others-follow?

The Senate voted to scrap the controversial carbon tax on Thursday.

The vote has delivered a major victory to the conservative government of Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who went into last year’s election promising to abolish the “toxic tax” which he said threatened the nation’s economy, the world’s 12th largest.

This country doesn’t belong to republicans any more than democrats. There’s something decidedly wrong with that sort of thinking.

Hi Retire,

I can’t do point by points any longer, as in the good old days. Flopping Aces has too often been an addiction to me. It has a way of taking over my life and keeping me up all night doing research. I like and respect you, and I don’t want you to think that I don’t read and consider what you write, but I just can’t address every single point. What makes you worth talking to is that you make specific points, supported by specific data. I can accept being called names, as long as there’s some actual substance to go along with the name calling.

Just a couple of current remarks:

The only issue that I’ll address in some depth at this time (and I know that you’ll agree with me, out of intellectual honesty) is that it’s not fair to state that the 12% unemployment rate in CA in September 2009 was in any way Obama’s fault. He wasn’t inaugurated until the end of January, 2009 and, at the time of his inauguration, the economy was in free fall, losing 700,000 jobs per month and the stock market lost half its value, destroying millions of 401Ks. I blame Greenspan for this, much more than Bush, but the Bush tax cuts did contribute to the real estate bubble, by contributing to the demand for securitized mortgages.

I credit Paulson, Bush, Geithner, and Obama for rescuing the nation from Greenspan’s folly, with an equally important assist from Bernanke and the Federal Reserve. Equal credit to all, who had the same coordinated policy of pure Keynesianism. 401Ks are healthy, once again. The reason employment hasn’t fully recovered is that corporate America took advantage of the financial crash to become leaner and more efficient. They cut away a lot of old wood (my generation took a big hit), and they found that they didn’t need all those workers and they haven’t hired them back, even though they are making strong profits and sitting on record amounts of cash.

I never blamed Bush for 9/11. I do blame him for invading Iraq. I was publicly opposed to the invasion in March, 2003, pre-invasion; so I’m entitled to be critical. I give credit to Obama for also being in opposition. I am critical of Democrats who went along with it, but it’s difficult not to support a President who has convinced the nation that it is in mortal danger.

Regarding Venture Capital, I’m a capitalist myself. I founded (4/7th founder’s share) a company which received $3.8M in start-up funds from Silicone Valley VCs, with many $millions more in follow on funds. The company was called Oncotech and the VCs cashed out when Oncotech was purchased by a Danish biotech company called Exiqon.

P.S. I’ve started another company called Vasocell, which we are in the process of capitalizing. For further information see: http://vasocell.com

– Larry W/HB

Hi Nan, Regarding Australia: it’s all political. Australia elected a conservative government (I think about 9 months ago) and they pulled the plug on CO2 cap and trade and related green energy policies. Australia has, I think the highest per capita CO2 emissions in the world, being also the number one coal exporter in the world. But the overall population is small, and the argument was that the Aussie contribution to global CO2 was inconsequential, unless the USA and China were also on board.

That’s the problem, everyone makes the excuse that everyone else is polluting and cutting our own pollution won’t make a difference.

My only point at present is that California has stepped up to the plate and said it doesn’t matter if we are only a small part of the problem, we are going to do our share and show the world that we can make it work. California may be right or it may be wrong, but one way or the other, we’ll finally get the chance to find out. In this way, California is doing a service to the nation and the world by actually getting real world data on economic consequences of restricting carbon. Just as Colorado and Washington are doing a service by showing what happens when you actually legalize recreational pot.

@retire05: Great. And please note, I ask that question from a standpoint of one who in his own way is trying to fight the good fight. I don’t want to say so much folks are to dumb to realize and will not listen as below but in fact feel that over the last couple of generations, the indoctrination put forth by our schools, the government and the media is in fact the culprit here as to what I call the mind dead electorate. We haven’t learned from our history and in turn the powers that be are in effect white washing that history. As we are in every case bombarded by lies and coverup (and again I stress far to many on the right are also guilty of this!) it does seem like a dauntless task getting the message out sometime, especially when bombarded by lies.

Budvarakbar says: 23

Until the AGW crowd can rationally explain how global temp average has gone down since 1997 DESPITE the increase of atmospheric CO2 during this same period, there is absolutely zero benefit to imposing a carbon tax, and the Australian experience shows clearly it is economically harmful to impose yet another wasteful tax on a nation. This stupid carbon tax idea, like obamacare, is absolutely not about fixing a problem, but is only about giving government more control over people’s lives, and a chicken little excuse to take even more money from hard working citizens to be wasted by politicians on more convoluted vote buying schemes.

Hi Pete, The vast majority of the world’s heat is stored in the oceans, which are a heat sink. Atmospheric temperature depends a lot on ocean surface temperatures. With generally higher temperatures, there’s more air flow (which creates climate extremes, such as last winter’s polar vortex, even as Alaska and Russia had a historically warm winter). When there’s more ocean water mixing, warm surface water mixes with colder sub-surface water — all of this affects atmospheric temperature. But what’s important is the the total heat of the planet (atmosphere plus ocean) continues to increase, just as sea levels continue to increase and ice continues to melt. @openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal):

I like and respect you, and I don’t want you to think that I don’t read and consider what you write, but I just can’t address every single point.

There is no need for you to pander. Frankly, I really don’t care if you like me, or not. It holds absolutely no importance for me. I have long past the stage of my life where I want everyone’s approval.

Actually, I don’t blame Obama. At least not for his first year. I do blame Bill Clinton who took a little known piece of legislation, signed by Jimmie Carter, and put it on steroids that destroyed the housing mortgage industry. That action on the part of Clinton was based on a bogus report put out by the Boston Fed that minorities were being denied mortgages due to their race along (red lining). That Boston Fed report was summarily disproven, but no one in the Democrat administration was willing to listen. When Bush took office, it was quickly apparent to him that the GSEs were in trouble. Yet, Democrats, like Barney Frank, vehemently denied that was the case, and blocked any reforms that would have prevented a major bailout of the GSEs (I’m sure the YouTube video of Barney Frank saying the GSEs were sound is still there).

Also, I blame Franklin Raines, a man Bush decided to leave in place, that had been hired under Bill Clinton to manage the GSEs. Raines had falsified the numbers to secure tony bonuses for him, and his fellow co-managers, and the damage he did caused a GSE bailout of over $700 BILLION. Yet, not only did Raines walk away with a cool $100 million in bonuses, he was hired by the Obama campaign as a “financial” adviser.

Now, as to the “losing 700,000 jobs per month”; that is a talking point I hear repeated ad nauseam by the left. Truth be told, that “700,000” number was one month, not month[s], but it does sound good when trying to lay all the blame for the recession at the feet of George Bush and gets repeated as if it were gospel by people just like you.

The reason employment hasn’t fully recovered is that corporate America took advantage of the financial crash to become leaner and more efficient.

As well they should. Personally, I’m of the opinion that the federal government should apply the same standard. When one federal employee retires, do not replace them. Make the federal government leaner and meaner, so to speak. Corporate America is wise enough to know that it has to hedge against the hard times. If they do not, and simply expand for the sake of expansion, during the good times, they will not survive in market down turns.

California struggled to come out of the recession harder than most because of your insane housing laws and restrictions. The NIMBY attitude runs rampant in California. Dr. Thomas Sowell addresses this insanity in his The Housing Boom an Bust. It is a must read for anyone who wants to understand what actually caused the mortgage meltdown. Other great reads are Dr. Stan Liebowitz’s works, both on the Boston Fed claim of redlining, and the cause of the mortgage industry’s melddown. You also have a “welfare” mentality in California, as you just exhibited by bragging how many uninsured have now been added to Obamacare in California (yet, not addressing how many of those people have been added to the state’s Medicaid rolls). According to a report in the NY Times on April 4, 2014, California has added 10 million people to its Medicaid rolls, an increase of 9%. Since the federal government covers that cost for only a few years, depreciating each year, how long can California sustain that cost?

Even illegals, known illegals, are eligible for social welfare in California. And it is going to get worse. I’m sure you think Governor Moonbeam is doing a good job, but frankly, you should be preparing the tar and feathers for him. He makes Grey Davis look like a conservative.

@joetote:

: Well said! But how do we “wake up the folks” when overwhelmingly the Obama Propaganda industry known as the MSM is loudly and shrilly not only blocking the true message but in fact rewriting the facts to back up this lawless twerp in the White House?

I promised you a response, so here it is.

Just a few minutes ago, i saw that a police department in Maryland labeled anti-illegal immigration graffiti a hate crime

There have been words written that goes something like this; the very group that you are not allowed to criticize is the very group that will have their boot on your neck.

You have to understand that cultural Marxism (political correctness) has been the goal for 100 years. Drip by drip, step by step, we are seeing the goals of the revolutionaries come to pass, albeit without a lot of violence.

As to what to do about the current disaster on the border that I think will have such far reaching ramifications we cannot now comprehend them? Tell the truth to everyone who will listen to you. When someone like Greggie comes around, blaming the actions of Obama, an anti-colonialist, on the William Wilberforce bill of 2008 signed by George Bush, dispute the truth of that claim. Progressives cannot dispute actual facts, although the Obama sycophants will try.

If you have kids in school, take them out. Send them to a private school, and if that is beyond your financial ability, home school them. Join with other parents who can create small classes of home schooled kids. This accomplishes two things: your kids will be smarter and they will not be exposed to the pending health crisis that is going to be caused by the illegal children entering our schools.

Make sure you have all your inoculations updates; TB, measles, whooping cough, etc. You, and your entire family.

If there is a business you frequent, and you learn they hire illegals, tell the owner/manager you will no longer patronize their establishment because Americans need/want jobs.

Call your state/federal representatives weekly. Tell them that they must seal the border, and you don’t want any form of amnesty. Those phone calls actually hold some weight except with the most open borders devotees. Those, you simply advise that you intend to pound the pavement working against them and for their opponent in the next election.

As to getting the press to be honest, forget it. Since the days of Walter Duranty, Walter Lippman and Walter Cronkite, the press has adopted the attitude that its purpose is to create opinions in the public, not to report the news honestly. Drop any media outsource you pay for. Cancel it.

And be vocal. Research an issue, and tell your friends what you find. Get the truth out there. No one likes being lied to.

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal):

Larry, your comments are completely wrong. I am well aware of the ridiculous AGW attempts at falsely claiming the oceans are acting as heat sinks – of course insisting that the heat is somehow being stored at ocean depths where temperatures cannot actually be measured – but surely you are aware that the polar icecaps have INCREASED in size larger than they have been in over 30 years, aren’t you?

AGW is a myth. The entire myth is based on GIGO computer models purporting that increased burning of fossil fuels increases CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere, allegedly increasing the average temps. So again, until the AGW cultists can produce a rational, scientific explanation for how average global temps have DECREASED since 1997, while atmospheric CO2 has increased during that time, AGW theory has as much credibility as Mann’s hockey stick graph.

Which is to say, none at all.

@Pete:

The eco-nut left also ignored the possible effect of increased undersea volcanic eruptions in the Pacific Ocean during the last two decades (1994-2009) and the possibility this direct heat energy transfer would have had a greater influence on water temperatures, coupled with known high levels of solar storm activity resulting in increased solar radiation during the same period. True science facts: undersea volcanic eruptions warm waters, as does solar radiation.

Rather than excepting what was known, the AGW crowd would have us believe their ridiculous wild speculation that a infinitesimally minor atmospheric co2 increase would penetrate into the great heat sink that is the ocean and create a higher temperature fluctuation than that they claim it presumably has on the atmosphere.

To our AGW religious fanatics out there, try this:

[Experiment #1] Assemble your whole family around a metal tub filled with water and have them breath on it all day with their high CO2 charged exhalations, and keep careful watch on the water temperature.

[Experiment #2] Move the same tub of water out in the sun, place a Bunsen burner underneath. and keep track of the temperature changes.

Compare the results, then go soak your head.

@Greg: I finally agree with you on something.

But I think the current ideological crisis isn’t about the two parties (that we have only two is a bad sign to begin with: other parties never have a chance), it’s about moving forward.

The Dems are too homogenized. When one party all thinks alike and toes the line, that’s cause for concern. The language used by the media left is frequently that the Rep party is “obsolete” and “irrelevant”. I’m against either party trying to take over as the official government, with no counterbalance. That’s been the underlying goal of the Dems, or at least their followers, since 2000. If Dems took over, and had their way, we’d have totalitarianism. That’s why I am firmly against the left right now more than the right. If the right were trying to take over (which I haven’t seen in my lifetime), I’ve be just as vocal about curbing their power, and enthusiasm.

On the right, well…plenty of problems there. I still believe in the constitutional republic that is America. I don’t think we need to replace it.

Tired of both “parties”. Just a political class of elites that this country is not meant to have.

“The Great Experiment” is finally failing, but only the people can save it.

@retire05: Well put my friend.
BTW: “When someone like Greggie comes around, blaming the actions of Obama, an anti-colonialist, on the William Wilberforce bill of 2008 signed by George Bush, dispute the truth of that claim.”

I haven’t posted much later, but anyone who has followed me on here at all knows how much I like to gig the Greggies of the world when I get the chance. 🙂

The progressives need crisis to operate. Their policies are designed to create them. From the housing collapse to the stuff at the border. There has to be a victim. They never ever seek a solution to the crisis, just a continuation so they can implement their evil plans. I would like to see them deal with the crisis of having about a million armed Americans surrounding Washington DC with the though of cleansing.

Hi Retire: We’ve discussed Sowall before. He claims that housing prices are artificially high in California because of NIMBY zoning laws. That’s crazy, as anyone who lives in CA well knows. The problem is that California has a desert climate or alpine topography, over most of the state. The places where businesses want to locate and people want to live are near the coast. The coast is built up, completely. It’s not like Texas – geographically or climate-wise. And whatever NIMBYism influences zoning is by no means limited to liberals; conservative homeowners hate crowding and freeway congestion as much as anyone else — probably more so.

To everyone else: Can we engage in a thought experiment? Prior to 1989, the US faced an acid rain crisis. But conservatives and liberals got together and fashioned a top down cap and trade system on sulfur and nitrogen emissions. George HW Bush, who wanted to be known as an environmentalist, encouraged the process and signed the bill into law.

The EPA told every power plant how much sulfur and nitrogen they were allowed to emit. If they emitted less, they could get a credit which they could sell to power plants who couldn’t reduce their emissions sufficiently. This was called cap and trade. The utilities screamed that it would be economic calamity. But the politicians held firm. The goal was to cut sulfur emissions by 50%. Instead, those emissions have been cut by 70% and the Eastern lakes which had been sterilized by acid are now coming back strong and forests are starting to come back also. The cost has been much less than the utilities projected.

Here’s the thought experiment: Would there be any possibility at all that this law would have any chance of passing, were it to come up for the first time today?

Post-script (back to Retire): Here’s the actual job loss data. It agrees with what I wrote; it disagrees with what you wrote. If you have data from another source which challenges these data linked below, just provide a link and I’ll review it: http://investmentwatchblog.com/job-lossesgai%C2%AD%C2%ADns-since-the-great-recession-began/

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach CA

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal): Actually Larry, it makes a difference if you are the current president instead of the past president or a want to be president. Under your criteria of leadership on immigration, we should have elected Pat Paulsen as our king.

Hi Randy, The small, middle Eastern countries are trying to take care of literally millions of refugees, while angry mobs of Americans block the path of buses carrying frightened children and our politicians talk about these children as if they are maggot infested fruit, which must be turned away at the border at all costs. I don’t agree with this. I think it’s actually disgraceful.

My suggested solution to the problem of illegals is simple:

1. Fine every business or homeowner (or parent hiring a child care worker) $1,000 per day for every day that an undocumented worker who came to the US for economic reasons is employed by said business, homeowner, parent. Aggressively enforce this $1,000 per day fine for everyone so involved in the business of hiring undocumented workers. This will stop economic immigration in its tracks and the money from the fines can go into border enforcement.

But, at the same time:

2. Grant a green card to every adult who came into the US illegally for economic reasons (prior to Jan 1, 2014), as long as said adult is able to remain gainfully employed, but no path to citizenship. If said adult works enough years to qualify for social security and pays into social security for the required period of time, said adult can collect social security and medicare benefits at legal retirement age. But, again, no path to citizenship; no possibility of gaining voting privileges.

3. Path to citizenship for “dreamers” (brought here as kids; stayed out of trouble; completed education, etc.).

4. Refugee status under 2008 law for true refugee children, which means not economically disadvantaged, but at grave risk of being trafficked or killed.

5. Dramatically increase the number of H1-B visas, to allow American companies to hire foreign workers with much needed technical skills.

@openid.aol.com/runnswim (Larry Weisenthal): What about the criminals that Obama continues to release from prison and does not deport. You want them to remain here too?
