Liberty dies

This is why I hate Obamacare. I knew this was coming.

This is why I railed against using the IRS to enforce Obamacare.

I knew insinuating the IRS into your health care was just the beginning.

I knew going to electronic health records was going to send this country down the rabbit hole.

And here it is.

The federal government is piecing together a sweeping national “biosurveillance” system that will give bureaucrats near real-time access to Americans’ private medical information in the name of national security, according to Twila Brase, a public health nurse and co-founder of the Citizens Council for Health Freedom.

Got that? Your hemorrhoids, your breast implants, your low testosterone, the number of abortions you’ve had, your STD’s- they’re all critical to national security.

But Brase warns that the NHSS proposal would allow the federal government to monitor an individual’s behavior before, during and after any government-defined health “incident” – which could be anything from a local outbreak of the flu to a terrorist anthrax attack.

“It’s very broad. It doesn’t seem to have any limits, except they say something about, you know, properly protecting the data. But from our perspective, if the government gets access to this kind of data, [and] is allowed to do research with the data…then our privacy has already been compromised. The government has already said that our data is their data for their purposes of national health security,” Brase told CNSNews.com.

“It’s very clear to us that really the government is moving toward real-time access, toward close collaboration of government and doctors for ready access to the electronic medical record and then to conduct research and analysis.”

In other words, piss someone off and they’re into your health records, whether it’s the IRS, Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid.

Brase noted that the information collected by the government will be “all-encompassing” and include “what our health status is, whether we exercise, how often we get a cold, or what kind of medications we’re taking. They’re also looking at the climate, and the economic condition of the country, as all being a party of this National Health Security Strategy.”

“In other words, anything and everything could become a health threat by the government’s standards,” she said.

Including angry remarks. And blog posts.

But Brase warns that the government’s biosurveillance plan is much more intrusive than the data collection currently being done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“We’re of the mind that the Fourth Amendment actually means something, so you can’t access everybody’s patient’s medical record just because you say there is a security threat or just because you say it’s good for the American public,” she told CNSNews.com.

“But the fact of the matter is that [the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act] HIPPA already allows the federal government and the state government and the local government and anyone who is a public health agency to have access to our medical records – identifiable medical records – without our consent. It’s in the HIPPA Privacy Rule, which has the full force and effect of law. But that wasn’t actually put in by Congress. It was put in by the Department of Health and Human Services.”

They’re going to claim that only a few people can access the data:

One of the dangers, Brase pointed out, is that this vast amount of medical data warehoused in a giant electronic database will only be available to government-approved researchers.

You know, like Lois Lerner. Or Edward Snowden. And you know that if democrats want someone’s private medical records, they’re going to get them. all they have to do is ask the IRS.

According to “National Biosurveillance Science and Technology Roadmap” written last June, “effectively, appropriately, and securely sharing health event data, including parts of electronic patient records and laboratory data, has significant potential to improve national awareness of incidents that could progress to impact national security.”

Like Tea Party meetings. And the Republican National Convention. And registering Republican. And if the Obama regime gets really angry with you, they could add little tidbits to your records, such as mental illness. Or anger issues which dictate an electronic ankle bracelet. Or change your declared income to spur a visit from you know who.

obama 1984

Obama’s 2009 Stimulus began the totalitarianism:

“The Obama administration in the [American] Recovery and Reinvestment Act [of 2009] forces every doctor to have interoperable electronic medical records by January 1, 2015 or face penalties from Medicare, financial reductions in their payments. So that’s one thing that’s happening,”

Imagine having to have a station in every home. Each morning Obama would tell you what you may watch on TV. Michelle would then tell you what to eat and how much to exercise. If you disobey, the IRS pays you a visit.

At a commencement ceremony Valerie Jarrett made a joke:

JARRETT: But also remember that before I hire anybody, I always check out everything that they’ve been doing online, and believe me, we have ways of finding out everything you’ve been doing online.

Obama also joked about using the IRS on his enemies.

What could go wrong?

It’s not as though democrats abused the IRS, is it? It’s not as though Republican donors were targeted, right? It’s not as though the IRS simply handed over confidential information, right? It’s not as though Obamacare demands that all your private information be handed over to the IRS, right?

None of it is very funny any more. And the take home message?

“I think people are worried about things like HIV or something stigmatizing or embarrassing. But they should be very concerned about the fact that this is really a sweeping strategy to oversee your entire life with the intention of keeping you, and making you keep yourself, healthy,” she continued.

“And that is a government that is too big. That is a government that says you have no freedom, because if you are not free from surveillance, you are not free.”

Obama is watching you. 100% of the time. They will control the horizontal. They will control the vertical. Government will make all your decisions. You will be freed from the burden of choice. All in the interest of national security.

Problem is, if you have no choices, you have no freedom.

Requiring all health data to be immediately available to the Feddies comes as no surprise. NSA already has all our phone records. IRS already has carte blanche to shut down conservative opinion. EPA has unilateral authority to close coal-fired power plants. EEOC can fine you if you have the wrong skin-color ratio in your business. And so on.
The problem with the data flood is chronicled in science fiction. There are as yet no sentient computers to evaluate the data at real-world speeds. Remember: the USSR fell because of the fax machine. You can unplug a phone call. But it is impossible to tell from the warble what the content of a fax transmission is.
Our weapon of choice is the internet, where we can still communicate (unlike China) about issues which matter to us. We would not know about this new program without Flopping Aces.
There is only one solution to this: the machete. Start defunding agencies. Don’t stop until the entire bureaucratic state has been dismantled.

Whoa, the tin foil hats are on tight tonight! Lol!

I get the feeling when the millennials 18-34 reach the ‘age of enlightenment’ they are going to be kicking themselves….think they have resentments now? How about all the lies they are being told and how they are so gullible as to believe them…?

The big brother we have now is only the tip of the ice berg…

@mathman2:

the internet, where we can still communicate (unlike China)

Are you sure about that?

DrJohn says:

They’re going to claim that only a few people can access the data:

Of course that “few” includes numerous hackers every year — remember any recent data breaches? hmmm?

Then of course the Snowden and “I wanna be a girl” crowd.

Just think of all the lucrative deals one could get from all over the world for the data for just a few thousand Americans — of course google and the average city / county property data-bases have already pioneered that —

You will get what you deserve!

All this makes Harry Reid’s simple but repetitive lies on the Senate floor about Romney never paying any taxes for ten years look like a joke.
Now a potential political opponent can be pre-emptively blackmailed into never entering the race at all!
Catherine Engelbrecht the True the Vote founder who was investigated rather than given IRS clearance to run her non-profit organization is offering $1,000,000 to anyone whose information (emails, eye-witness accounts or testimony) leads to a CONVICTION of anyone involved in the IRS targeting scandal.

Obama not only does not (ever) find those responsible and punish them but he’s off to the National Baseball Hall of Fame then also the National Football League champion Seattle Seahawks were at his WH yesterday. But his sporting creds are in question. He tried to join some co-ed Little League players in a game but his pitching and throwing a ball are still terrible!
http://freebeacon.com/blog/exclusive-breaking-analysis-obama-still-cant-throw-a-baseball/
He does NOT ”throw like a girl.”
Girls can throw much better than that.
He throws like a twee boy.

Still, all his sports are diversions……
He has also paid off all the medical insurers so they won’t raise their rates next year under O’Care.
His payoff is with OUR money!
His benefit is that notices of rate increases were due to come out BEFORE the November elections.
Biggest campaign gift ever!

@This one: Aren’t you one of those who claim every investigation into Obama’s incompetencies is a “conspiracy”? Who owns the foil hat?

Keep in mind, one of the questions doctors are now required to ask is if you own any firearms. INTO THE DATA-BASE! Forget registration, the federal government now has a record of who owns a gun.

As yet, none of these intrusions have been inflicted upon liberals, which, of course, is why those like This one are so blasé about it. However, look at the squealing over the recent abortion law in Texas where abortion clinics have been regulated to meet minimum standards; WOOO-WEE! Them liberals likes them some regulation… as long as it is inflicted on someone else.

You think, This one, Hillary would have an issue right now if her medical records were electronically available to anyone that might consider handing such information over to her political enemies?

@Bill:
Add this to a list of invasive questions from your doctor:
Do you have any Jewish blood?
Yes, our new doctor’s questionaire asked that very question.
You have the right to not answer any questions you feel are irrelevant or too invasive.
Let the doctor run a test to see.
(I wonder if there is one.)

Say you took a medication within the last 5 years which might have a psychological side effect, say an antihistamine for pollen alergy (smile). The government would have a compelling interest in taking away any guns you might own.

Same thing if you need glasses. We can’t have you pointing a gun at anyone if your eyesight is bad.

Is your BMI too high? Then the govt must increase your deductible for various medical expenses under CaringCare, the coming single-payer health system.

Are you taking too much pain medication? Come by every week for a chat about how to improve the quality of your life without burdening the medical system.

The possibilities for helping the population are endless.

@Andrew_M_Garland: Or, say you post comments on social media that supports conservative causes. The government can notify the IRS that you need to be audited. You probably also need to be investigated. Oops, a mistake has been entered in your medical records and this could be forwarded to your employer… or your bank. Or published.

We have seen, Andrew, what an unscrupulous administration for whom the “ends justifies the means” is willing to do with the power of the IRS. We have seen how an unscrupulous administration with an unscrupulous Attorney General will bring up unfounded charges against a journalist they don’t like so they could have a pretense to wire tap him and his family. We have seen how bad intrusive and oppressive government could get right here in the United States of America. No, the federal government does not need nor deserve such power. Such power easily abused by unscrupulous people.

that is so scary and possible for a dementia in a power position to intimidate anyone not in his party,
with emphasing any little smear in his or her life,
it’s so far out, that you have to throw out all the willing government to this outrageous whishfull evil,’
and throw those who have no idea what they mean , but will suport as a law,
one come to mind because he was quote saying evil about the conservatives like a idiot he is known to be,
HOWARD DEAN, THE ONE WITH THE FUNNY LAUGH, REMEMBER WHEN HE WAS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENCY,
HOWARD DEAN, THE REPUBLICANS ARE BETTER AMERICANS THAN ALL OF YOU INCLUDED, YOUR PARTY IS A DESTROYER
OF THE PEOPLE,
THE REPUBLICANS CONSERVATIVES HAVE A STRONG CODE OF CONDUCT MORE AMERICAN LEANING AT 100% ALLEGIANCE TO AMERICA, THE REAL ONE,
AND YOU GET HELP AS SOON AS YOU CAN, YOURE A MAD DOG,

JUST WHAT I THOUGHT,
the SENATOR SANDER did not vote on MARCO RUBIO BILL GIVING THE RIGHT TO FIRE INCOMPETANT,
in public jobs like the VA, HE IS COLLECTING FROM THE UNIONS AROUND 200 THOUSAND TO DO THEIR WISH IN THE SENAT,
YES FIRE THE UNIONS, THEY ARE THE PROBLEMS, AND A SENATOR CAN BE OUT OF GREASE AND BE FIRED ALSO,
SENATOR WHEN THEY ARE DONE WITH YOU, THEY WILL DISCARD YOU AS TRASH,
MARCO RUBIO HAD A VERY IMPORTANT LAW, AND THAT OLD

that name is how we reconnize you, keep it, it has represented you for so long ,
it belong to you,ALWAYS, AS THE FIRST NATIONS OF AMERICA, AND CARRY IT PROUDLY,
those nuts call it racist, they call everything racist, they are insane,

Excellent post, Dr.J.,

You’re absolutely right — when you take the ultimately personal, pervasive and complete information contained in Medical records of every citizen, combine it with the information and power of the IRS, you have given the statist progressive loons complete power over each citizen.

Then you add to that society-destroying brew, the well-practiced-by-socialists “Tell On You Neighbour” concept, . . . and we’re all screwed. Putin’s got nothing on Jarrett/Obama when it comes to vile. They knew they could pull it off because they had control over the minds of the IRS management (Lerner is a dimwit and is just a symptom). The strategy is too warped and corrupt to simply be the result of “Stupid” or “unforeseen consequences”. This is totalitarianism and control over the stupid.

Oh, . . . and to make sure that for the long term there was no resistance to the socialist ideology, this Admin blackmailed the States to swallow COMMON CORE in order to receive American Recovery and Reinvestment Act CASH. Talk about sick.

James Raider
they think they got the people by the nostril,
but they will have news comming for them, and they will be surprise,

Obama also joked about using the IRS on his enemies.

Joking? No, they were no more “joking” than an al-Qeada leader laughing about planned bombings. Knowing the complete disrespect and disdain of this administration for our Constitution, these are clear unveiled threats, in the exact same vein as those used in the past by the NAZI Gestapo and USSR’s Secret Police, of whom it was wise not to think they were bluffing.

I’m convinced that a part of the goal of getting instant government access to each citizen’s medical records is part and parcel with the far left’s gun control agenda, so that they can peruse every person’s record to find a reason to deny their Second Amendment rights. The rest of it is so that the can easily compile dossiers on potential political “enemies” and opponents, and use that information against them.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/26/us/irs-bars-employers-from-dumping-workers-into-health-exchanges.html?_r=1

Many employers had thought they could shift health costs to the government by sending their employees to a health insurance exchange with a tax-free contribution of cash to help pay premiums, but the Obama administration has squelched the idea in a new ruling.

Many employers — some that now offer coverage and some that do not — had concluded that it would be cheaper to provide each employee with a lump sum of money to buy insurance on an exchange, instead of providing coverage directly.

See, TAXES.

When employers provide coverage, their contributions, averaging more than $5,000 a year per employee, are not counted as taxable income to workers.

For decades employers have been assisting employees by reimbursing them for health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs. The new federal ruling eliminates many of those arrangements by imposing an unusually punitive penalty……a tax penalty of $100 a day — or $36,500 a year — for each employee who goes into the individual marketplace.

When this becomes common knowledge there will be a storm.
Right now most businesses do not realize this is the newest Obama adjustment in O’Care.
