Hillary Clinton was fired from Watergate for being a liar

Hillary Clinton has a history of prevarication going back a long time. By now most people are familiar with ludicrous story of her having to dodge sniper fire in Bosnia. Scuttlebutt has it that she also claimed to have discovered penicillin and walked on the Moon.

Fewer people know that Hillary was involved in Watergate proceedings as a young counsel, and that she was fired for being a liar.

Jerry Zeifman, General Counsel and Chief of Staff to the House Judiciary Committee during the Watergate proceedings, refused to offer Clinton a letter of recommendation and he told Dan Calabrese why:

After signing her termination papers, Zeifman refused Hillary a letter of recommendation. He told me in an interview that this was because she had shown herself to be a liar and an unethical lawyer.

About her unethical behavior:

To recap, Hillary was hired to work on the impeachment investigation by the Democratic Judiciary Committee staff. During the investigation, two camps formed on the question of whether Nixon should be afforded the right to counsel. Chief counsel John Doar was one of the leaders of the no-counsel camp, which also included Hillary, future Clinton White House Counsel Bernard Nussbaum and Yale Law professor Burke Marshall, who served as an outside consultant to the committee. Marshall had been one of Hillary’s law professors at Yale and was also close to the Kennedys, having served as Ted Kennedy’s lawyer in the aftermath of Chappaquiddick.

Zeifman’s allegations against Hillary center on a memorandum she wrote arguing that there was no precedent for a person facing impeachment to be allowed counsel. Zeifman says he told Hillary that the 1970 impeachment attempt against Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas established an impeachment target’s right to counsel, and as Hillary prepared the memorandum on the issue, Zeifman briefed her thoroughly on the Douglas case and directed her to the Douglas case files in the Judiciary Committee archives.

According to Zeifman, Hillary then removed the Douglas case files from the Judiciary Committee archives without his permission, and proceeded to write a memorandum arguing that no right to counsel existed in impeachment cases – as if the Douglas case had never happened and the Douglas files did not exist.

Republican Counsel Franklin Polk confirms:

Franklin Polk, who served at the time as chief Republican counsel on the committee, confirmed many of these details in two interviews he granted me this past Friday, although his analysis of events is not always identical to Zeifman’s. Polk specifically confirmed that Hillary wrote the memo in question, and confirmed that Hillary ignored the Douglas case. (He said he couldn’t confirm or dispel the part about Hillary taking the Douglas files.)

To Polk, Hillary’s memo was dishonest in the sense that she tried to pretend the Douglas precedent didn’t exist. But unlike Zeifman, Polk considered the memo dishonest in a way that was more stupid than sinister.

“Hillary should have mentioned that (the Douglas case), and then tried to argue whether that was a change of policy or not instead of just ignoring it and taking the precedent out of the opinion,” Polk said.

Polk recalled that the attempt to deny counsel to Nixon upset a great many members of the committee, including just about all the Republicans, but many Democrats as well.

“The argument sort of broke like a firestorm on the committee, and I remember Congressman Don Edwards was very upset,” Polk said. “He was the chairman of the subcommittee on constitutional rights. But in truth, the impeachment precedents are not clear. Let’s put it this way. In the old days, from the beginning of the country through the 1800s and early 1900s, there were precedents that the target or accused did not have the right to counsel.”

Hillary was selling out members of her own party:

Polk recalls Zeifman sharing with him at the time that he believed Hillary’s primary role was to report back to Burke Marshall any time the investigation was taking a turn that was not to the liking of the Kennedys.

“Jerry used to give the chapter and verse as to how Hillary was the mole into the committee works as to how things were going,” Polk said. “And she’d be feeding information back to Burke Marshall, who, at least according to Jerry, was talking to the Kennedys. And when something was off track in the view of the Kennedys, Burke Marshall would call John Doar or something, and there would be a reconsideration of what they were talking about. Jerry used to tell me that this was Hillary’s primary function.”

Ambition can be a good thing or it can be poison. There’s little doubt about which motivates Hillary Clinton.

hillary then and now

This is not someone worthy of the office of President. We’ve already had enough of liars.

As one of many who lived through this while the news coverage equaled only about 10 minutes of the 1/2 hour national news per day, I was starved for more info.
Magazines like US News and World Report, Newsweek and Time were more detailed but a week late.
The newspapers were worthless, except for the Washington Post’s Woodward and Bernstein articles.
We really have benefited from the 24-hour news cycle.
Sadly, lately the media is so bought and sold that major news falls between the cracks.
This story is NOT breaking news.
It is 6 years old.
But where is the media in doing due diligence on Hillary?
As nowhere as they were in 2008 when they were busy crowning Obama.

I’ll refrain from calling her a born liar, but the “Bosnian sniper fire” was a gem. Walking a fairly straight path is not a way to dodge incoming fire. 🙂

BTW, didn’t Chelsea accompany her on that trip?

It’s kind of refreshing to see this stuff popping up again. It makes me smile to watch all the Obots scramble to defend her when just a few years ago they all turned their backs on her in favor of someone they’d never heard of.

They gave up on her in a split second. Now they’re left with the fun task of defending her in light of the fact that just five years ago they said she was so unqualified to hold the office that they’d rather have a freshman senator with no history whatsoever instead of her.

Yeah, they really love her alright. This is going to be fun to watch. Trying to persuade people she’d make a good president when not long ago they themselves said she wouldn’t.

Let’s open up Whitewater again and see where it goes.

Wow, how far do you have to dig to drudge up these types of lies? You are an over the top teabagger!

@Nanny G:

But where is the media in doing due diligence on Hillary?

Investigating Walker’s college president election.

So basically, if the Repub nominee in 2016 is willing to go after Hills in a big way, WE HAVE A DECENT CHANCE of taking her out?

Mrs. Clinton also claimed to have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first to ascend Mt. Everest. Problem is…he did that two years after she was born. Typical as the record is showing.

My favorite Hillary fact is that in 1964 while in high school she was a Goldwater girl. Yes…she worked for his presidential election. Can you just see her in a Goldwater cheerleader outfit? With a ribbon adorning her chest announcing the candidate’s name? She squealed for the other Barry.

Her father, Hugh Rodham was a very conservative Republican.

A friend of mine sent this to me today. Birds of a feather…

I should have known that this article came out of WND Americans do not take that as a reliable source

Lie, cheat, and steal. Nothing new. Throw in fraud and murder.

@This one:
Let’s see when Romney was running they went back to his college/frat days. They went back to when he took family trips when his children were small (and they all have their own children now). When McCain was running they went back to his birth and tried to get him disqualified for not being natural born – how ironic. I could go on but you get the drift.

Teabagging. isn’t that the activity that the liberal gay community love to engage in? -and wasn’t it anderson cooper who first brought it up and isn’t he part of that liberal gay community group? so what does that say of you as a liberal?

@Ditto: Investigating Walker’s college president election.

Yup.
I almost forgot.
And MSNBC is looking into ”Bridgegate,” still…..some mystery rabbi.
Also at MSNBC the guy who worked three days in a journalism job before being ordained with the Walter Cronkite Journalism Award is wrapped up in the percents of people of color voting for the (Yuch!) Academy Awards.
LOL!

The mainstream media missed his story the first time around…so, there is no chance it will receive any coverage in any future election cycle. Thus if the MSM doesn’t cover it…in a sense, it never happened.

Always remember, the only way Democrats can win elections is by the ignorant voting for their bread and circuses. As long as 85% of the media continue to block for them…they will continue to win any close election.

Hillary is a trip! She’ll probably get elected anyway, that’s the nature of the political process in this country. Aside from being a professional politician, member of CFR, Bildebergers, AIPAC, and wife of former president who research shows was as dirty as they get (importing cocaine for CIA at Arkansas airport with troopers guarding it), what qualification does she have that indicates she would be good for people of this country? Integrity? Moral character? Actual caring about others (i.e., empathy)? Leadership? (Bengazi stand down orders!) Good judgment (Iraq!), wisdom – No! Bottom line is she will probably be elected for the former reasons (and because she is a woman) but clearly won’t benefit the country or people in it. Of course, even if someone great is elected, i.e., Elizabeth Warren, there is not much they can do to move country off agenda, as Obama has proven time and again.

@This one:
If you do any research into hillary you will find a pattern of deceit. She will say or do anything to promote her agenda. Watergate,Whitewater,Travelgate,Vince Foster,Rose law firm,Benghazi,Lost e-mails, Clinton Foundation the list goes on and on. It’s hard to defend her. She was the one they ran away from in 2008 and coronated his heiness. Now she’s all they have. Remember if it hits too close to home LIE…LIE…LIE… She learned that from slick willie.
