Giving The Country Away (Guest Post)

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, last Friday (January 24, 2014) said that the approximately eleven and one half million illegal immigrants in the US have "earned the right to be citizens." He actually said that!

Johnson also said:

It is also, frankly, in my judgment, a matter of who we are as Americans, to offer the opportunity to those who want to be citizens, who’ve earned the right to be citizens, who are present in this country – many of whom came here as children – to have the opportunity that we all have to try to become American citizens.

Johnson, in an effort to relate his remarks toimmigration reform and homeland security, continued:

Comprehensive immigration reform would also promote a more effective and efficient system for enforcing our immigration laws, and should include an earned path to citizenship for the approximately 11-and-a-half-million undocumented immigrants present in this country, something like 86% of whom have been here almost 10 years.

An earned path to citizenship for those currently present in this country is a matter of, in my view, homeland security to encourage people to come out from the shadows, to be accountable, to participate in the American experience, the American society.

What is truly amazing is that RINOs, like Senator John McCain (R-AZ), think, despite historical evidence, that if they support comprehensive immigration reform that Hispanics, mostly Mexicans, will support them. But history indicates otherwise:

Ronald Reagan, in 1986, supported amnesty for illegal aliens, yet the vote differential grew when George H.W. Bush ran for president!

So, with the above fact and the two most recent vote differentials in mind, guess who will get credit with immigration reform. That’s right, Democrats! The MSM will see to it. As John Hawkins writes

Barack Obama wanted to give "undocumented Americans" citizenship right away, but Republicans HATED HISPANICS SO MUCH that they insisted on Jim Crow laws that denied those poor, innocent Americans-in-waiting their civil rights by refusing to immediately let them become Americans.

There are even some RINOs who (foolishly) believe that citizenship for illegal aliens will somehow repair the Republican Party’s problem with Hispanics, who are already predisposed to vote for the Democrats. Republicans don’t have any realistic Hispanic outreach now, so why do they think the situation will change in the future?

Further, Dear Leader Barack Hussein Obama is giving out work permits to illegal aliens, refusing to deport most captured illegal aliens, and created the equivalent of a DREAM ACT by executive order. He has demonstrated that he has absolutely no intention of enforcing existing immigration law, so why propose new ones? Democrat policy on illegal aliens is driven by one factor – they want as many illegal aliens as possible so they can be transformed into Democrat voting citizens.

And, John Boehner (R-OH), who recently hired advisor Rebecca Tallent, a longtime immigration adviser to "Gang of Eight" member Senator John McCain, has, despite conservative opposition, "committed" to pushing through immigration reform in 2014.

This while the labor force non-participation rate is 62.8 percent, the lowest since 1978. As Diana Furchtgott-Roth said, "… since 2000 the labor force participation rates of workers 55 and over have been rising steadily, and the labor force participation rates of workers between 16 and 54 have been declining." "… for the 25 to 54 age group, the core group of workers in the labor force, participation rate has declined
by 2 percentage points over the same time period, from 83 percent to 81 percent."

In his State of the Union speech, Obama said, "… more than 8 million new jobs our businesses have created over the past four years." But he neglected (on purpose?) to mention that job production since 2009 has, at best, been flat,
with December 2013 non-farm employment increasing by 84,000 jobs.

"… nearly 8.2 million private sector jobs have been added since February 2010. Overall, the net job gain since he took office stood at just over 3.2 million." That is a "few" less than 11.5 million.

So, Mr. Johnson, if 11.5 million illegal aliens “participate in the American experience, the American society,” become citizens, where will they go to find jobs? Or are we
taxpayers just supposed to absorb them, to pay welfare, to pay for them to do nothing but vote Democrat?

But that’s just my opinion.
