Twisted Understanding Of The Constitution Leads To Things Like This (Guest Post)

satan statue

This is what happens when you start acting like all religions have equal merit. We were, and considered ourselves, a Christian nation for close to two hundred years, and now we have rejected that label. This is the result.

From the Associated Press:

Group unveils Satan statue design for Oklahoma

“The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond,” temple spokesman Lucien Greaves said in a statement. “The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation.”

The group is proposing a 7-foot statue of Baphomet, a horned goat-headed figure sitting on a pentagram-adorned throne with two smiling children next to him, which it believes will “serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures.

They have released the following statement:

“By accepting our offer, the good people of Oklahoma City will have the opportunity to show that they espouse the basic freedoms spelled out in the Constitution.”

One has a hard time understanding Satan worshippers. What has he ever done to deserve gratitude, respect, or worship? If you believe in Satan, you must also believe there is a God. For one was created by the other, and then that creation rebelled. One represents all that is good, and one represents all that is evil. If you choose the latter, it shows what kind of person you really are.

One of my friends had this to say about the latest OMG moment in the culture wars.

”Moral relativism is how Good is attacked by Evil. Take this example. Modern thinking would say that each religion deserves its place, as long as it’s privately funded. But is our society based on Satanic ideals? Is that the message we want to send?”

And that is a good point. Once we start to believe that all religions have equal validity, then this is what you end up with. History tells that this nation was founded by Christians on Biblical principles. One may not like that, but the truth is the truth. The concept of ‘freedom of religion’ was specifically designed so we wouldn’t have one official church that everyone had to belong to as the case had been in Britain. But it in no way diminished or downplayed the role Christianity prominently played in society and the culture at large, both in and out of government.

It is the courts, not the people or the Constitution as originally written or understood, that have attempted to remove Christianity from its historical place and role in our nation. But such politically correct, liberal ideas have led us down this path to where it would be conceivable for such a hateful blasphemy to even be considered acceptable or legal to display next to the Ten Commandments.

Interestingly, the greatest champions of this proposal have turned out to be atheists. They claim to believe in neither, but their unrelenting hatred of all things Christian will drive them to champion the most bizarre of things and support every effort to undermine the concept of God, traditional morals and values, and fundamental right and wrong.

I do not believe in the lie of blind tolerance no matter what. I do instead believe in wise discernment. The people and Oklahoma have every right to display the Ten Commandments and just as much right to reject a statue of Satan. The Founding Fathers would have had no problem with that decision, and would have mocked us for being played the fool by those who think otherwise.

Atheists always amuse me. Why if they believe as they claim that there is no God do they spend so much time and energy harassing believers? Why would they want to put up a statue of a “god” if there is no such being? I still puzzle their logic. Look at just the odds. If there is no God, I have wasted some time and energy meditating, serving my fellow man, praying and general self-improvement and if there is God, by His Grace, I escape eternal damnation. Why risk it? Answer: PRIDE (which by the way, was what caused Satan’s fall).

    You make a strong case.
    I especially appreciated this statement:

I do not believe in the lie of blind tolerance no matter what. I do instead believe in wise discernment.

Just the other day an MSNBC hostess apologized for very poor judgement.
Later I caught her on the air again.
She was in the middle of some discussion and had heard a conservative viewpoint.
She had no refutation so she said, (and I’m quoting) “Let’s don’t start the new year with judgement.”
    She was hearing GOOD judgement!
She had no refutation for it.
So she came out opposed to ANY judgement!
No wonder nobody watches that channel.

If you believe in Satan this would be a hallmark of your personal beliefs….no judgement is valid.
That way you are ”free” to do and believe whatever you feel like.
Interesting to re-read the Book of Job in that regard.
    Humans have free will.
We can do right or wrong without God striking us down.
    But the reckoning comes.
In that day Satan the Devil cannot help humans whose eternal existence can and will be cut off by God.
If Satanists believe they can play in Hell forever with their buddy the Devil, they are wrong.
They go to everlasting cutting off as does their dear leader who lied to them.

What I think is so funny about this is the upsurping of what the pentagram use to represent.

In ancient Mesopotamia, 3,500 BC, the symbol was used to represent the vault of Heaven and imperial power extending to the four corners of the earth. The Druids used the symbol to represent the Godhead. The pentagram served the Pythagoreans as a symbol of health and perfection.

To the Jews, the pentagram represented the chief name of God, being inscribed on King Solomon’s Ring. The Jewish pentagram also represented the first five books of Moses (the Penteauch). During the period 300-150 B.C., the ancient symbol was the official seal of the city of Jerusalem.

As for early Christianity, the Pentagram was recognized as the Five wounds of Christ. In fact, Emperor Constantine used the pentagram, along with the chi-rho symbol (the combination of the Greek letters for Christ, XP, into one symbol) side by side on his personal seal and amulet.

The first time the pentagram was used to represent evil, came when a French occultist, named Eliphas Levi (1810-1875), used the symbol in his artwork. In his own paintings, he associated the inverted (two points up) pentagram with negative magic.

While it’s from an site explaining pentagrams on LDS temples, it give a good history of its meaning.

However, what is not funny is what happens to a nation that leaves God (see the Old Testament as to what happens). I do have a fear for the safety of our nation.

I think this is probably an application of reductio ad absurdum.

    @John, #4:

Use of the pentagram and its association with the five wounds of Christ was quite common among early Roman Christians. I own a bronze pentagram ring dating from that era. They’re not particularly rare as Roman artifacts go and often come up for sale on eBay. (Along with a great many fakes.) Interestingly, sellers often claim they relate to Wicca—which has nothing whatsoever to do with satanism and is a relatively recent thing—or to be satanist artifacts.

I am confused; if Satan represents evil, what does this quote mean?

“serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures.

This is a bizarre method to interpret the anti-Christ. Deception is the key to this message. Deception is being used to embarrass the Christians and moral people of Oklahoma. Thus the message for children is to find acceptance among the damned and condemned. If we accept this abomination, it will lead to a celebration of such perverse activities as bestiality and the NAMBA lifestyles in statues.

The celebration of evil will be championed by the Left; since they are so impassioned with the desire to defend the rights of anyone who seeks to destroy our traditional values and vote for the Marxists.

    Great point.
It is another twisting of Christian reality.
Just because Christians have morals and standards that are high and also are, in many cases, black and white, does not mean they lack compassion and empathy for all living creatures, including other humans who do not live by their standards or morals.
But the Satanist statement implies that this is the case.
That it is Christians who are judging people.
It is God who does that.
He merely teaches Christians to keep from being defiled by the non-believers while still evangelizing to them and living among them.

The Jewish elders were asked in Rome why God does not destroy idols if he hates them so. To this the elders replied that men worship the sun, moon, and stars and God refuses to destroy the world He has created “because of fools.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.
