On Tuesday a number of left wing pundits were summoned to the White House.

Spotted: @joshtpm @CapehartJ @ezraklein & other lefty columnists headed into the West Wing as a group. POTUS coffee? Carney meeting? Anyone?

On Wednesday Klein and Marshall came through

Sure enough, both Klein and Marshall published similar blog posts within 30 minutes of each other on Wednesday morning. Klein, who wrote last week that the “scandals are falling apart,” writes today that “heads should roll at the IRS.” Marshall takes direct aim at IRS official Lois Lerner, writing that Lerner’s refusal to testify before Congress means she should be fired. “Whether or not she should be fired for whatever she did in the scandal itself, deciding to take the fifth means she needs to be removed from her position,” Marshall writes. “I was chatting with people yesterday who said that civil service protections may make this extremely difficult or even impossible.”

Klein:

Yes, heads should roll at the IRS

Marshall:

She Has To Go

And today- you guessed it- Lois Lerner was canned:

WASHINGTON (AP) — A day after she refused to answer questions at a congressional hearing, Lois Lerner has been replaced as director the Internal Revenue Service division that oversaw agents who targeted tea party groups.

Danny Werfel, the agency’s new acting commissioner, told IRS employees in an email Thursday that he has selected a new acting head of the division.

Ken Corbin will be the acting director of the agency’s exempt organizations division. Corbin is currently deputy director of submission processing in the wage and investment division.

A congressional aide said Lerner has been placed on administrative leave. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a personnel matter.

Iowahawk tweeted to Marshall

“You’re an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks”

They both are.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

They want us all to think the problems have been solved by getting rid of Lois. I hope she starts squeeling on her superiors.

Another one under the bus.
It is getting really crowded under there.
She must have been promised something really good to ensure her silence.

I wonder what?

A new identity? Permanent residence in North Korea?

Honestly. You can’t make this stuff up!

I’m thinking of a parody on that old Queen song…. “Another one under the Bus”
;-D

@Robin H: She better – soon — so as to get in a witness protection plan!

She is just being held in “the black hole” – along with the 20+ whoevers that were at Benghazi!

I believe the entire series of events – the apology, planted question, and such, has been scripted and designed to do one thing. Deflect the headlines from what could really damage the President: Benghazi. As bad a the IRS ‘scandal’ is, Benghazi is not a scandal – its either gross negligence (at the Administration and Presidential level) or outright treason. Lois is ‘taking one for the zero’ in this and will crawl under the bus if needed – probably to some higher-paying position in some think tank if not back into the government.
It’s unlikely that the President, or his administration, will be damaged much by the IRS scandal while it’s highly likely the Benghazi would – unless some of it can be deflected. Soon the MSM will come out with “Benghazi? Why is the GOP on a witch hunt? Why are they trying to pin another scandal on the administration? Must be because he’s black! RACIST!”.
