Curt, I remember this action on the part of the New Orleans police very well. Residents who were high, and dry, in the N.O. Garden District, although they were being burglarized by roaming gangs of thugs, had the N.O. police knocking on their doors, confiscating any and all firearms. Basically, the NOPD put the residents in a position where they could not defend themselves against the thugs, both the thugs of the roaming gangs, and the thugs of the NOPD.
The NRA sued New Orleans, and won the case where the weapons were ordered returned to their rightful, legal owners. Many people found their guns were missing, or had been destroyed. Firearms, that were collectible, such as antique firearms, were among the most that were missing. Other firearms were given back to the rightful, legal owners, after they had been destroyed.
The action of the NOPD is exactly what Obama, and the Democrats, have in mind. But like with Obamacare, any laws that prevent average citizens with no criminal/mental health histories from owning and possessing firearms, there will be an exemption for the D.C. elite.
