I’m going to disagree with you Joetote. It’s hard to say what the actual percentage of the population is that has jumped on the socialist bandwagon, but I hardly think it’s half.

Remember that a large percentage of the public have given up on voting because neither party reflects their views and can’t support the candidates or divisiveness of the elections. Another large percentage feels the same way but struggles to pick the least of two evils. (we call them the Independent voters.)

We have the fiscal & Constitutional conservatives of whatever party and independents that are reflected by the Tea Party who want smaller government and less government intrusion into their lives. (These should really be considered social moderates.) In 2010 they succeeded in electing Republicans who for the most part seemed to support their view, even though the MSM continues to tell us that they are “unelectable.” These are the candidates the Democrats and Establishment Republicans really fear because they will end business as usual.

The Republican party leadership has mostly been taken over by the global-capitalist “establishment” Republicans who support their own progressive-globalist agenda. They tend to only give lip-service to smaller government, and jumped on the fiscally irresponsible practice of pork-barrel projects. Both Bushes were of their ilk, and I fear Romney may be as well. They are the adversaries that the MSM and people like Richard Wheeler want to keep in control Republican party, so as to hedge their bets. They also tend to roll-over and “compromise” too heavily (and stupidly) to the far-left Democrats.

There are the Libertarians who tend to be capitalistic anarchists who don’t want government to interfere in anyway with business. While they do claim to support Constitutionalism with limited government, they are more concerned with free trade and no regulation whatsoever.

You then have the Democratic “compassion” voters who don’t really support socialism per se, but does want to government programs to help people who need it. These are what I consider the “heart on their sleeve” Democrats, who are pandered to and emotionally manipulated by their party (much like the “save the children/animals” commercials) to secure their votes. They tend to be more moderate in their views, (however, there are almost no Democratic politicians left who support a moderate view as the far-left has campaigned to stack congress with their socialist comrades).

Finally you have the Democratic-Socialists (who have taken over the Democratic party) who are joined by greedy, self-centered, entitlement sucking leeches. These are the hardcore and extremely vocal political socialists that are trying to “fundamentally transform” America into yet another failed socialist regime. They “poll” as roughly 30% of the population, however that is misleading as a large percentage of the population does not participate in political polling. If I had to estimate it, I’d say that their numbers are closer to between 1/7th to 1/6th of the population if that. But their in-your-face loudness and eagerness to jump in front of a microphone makes it “appear” that they are a much larger portion of society than they actually are.

Real racism is insisting on No Voter ID to vote BUT not only checking ID to enter but then slamming interns who take notes at lectures!

@Ditto: The MSM gives the dems a pass big time. When someone does hold their feet to the fire, i.e. Fox or talk radio neither of which I watch or listen to (I do go to Fox’s web site for my news), they are deemed biased, right wing, and every other derogatory name they can think of.

Our educational system, or indoctrination system if you will, doesn’t help either. As a matter of fact, that’s where it starts. Having just gone back to school under the GI Bill to complete a degree, I can personally attest to that. One professor openly supported OWS and told his younger students who were working at say Walmart, that they needed to unionize. Another when talking about deficits, pointed out the the ones under the Bush’s and posted a graph to illustrate his point. No comments were made about those under Obama. The graph showed a balanced budget under Obama in 2012 and surpluses thereafter. He claimed no WMD was found in Iraq, which I had to correct him on. The best was another adult student who told me one of her professors told his class on day one that if they were Republicans or liked Ayn Ryn, they would not like his class. When he talked about Reagan’s assassination attempt, he had brainwashed the young kids so much they were cheering and commenting that someone should have put more bullets in him.

Although I can agree up to a point, I do in fact believe it to be 50% or more. While I areee with your premise, one must really look deeper at a few things here. Our children and especially the last generation are not even being taught the basic ideals this country was founded on and if they are taught it at all, it is followed up with the extreme vilification of those same ideals by their teachers and professors.

As far as for the “compassionate Democrats” or the Republican moderates or whatever, the main fact still remains perfectly clear. Barely 50% of the electorate even give a damn! They do not pay attention, and hell, won’t even get of their asses to vote! Then we have those that do vote. The facts are there in front of them. Yet they chose to ignore them.

Take our so called leader! Everything was there! I would not and could not vote for him based on his own words and actions. Hell, his book alone scared the hell out of me as to the future of our country under him and it is panning out as I thought it would.

An ill informed electorate is bad enough. Take one that is being fed open lies and propaganda from a corrupt government (and please, all who have seen me here know I blame all ilk of politicians, not just Dems) and in turn refuses to take one of their most sacred rights seriously, the right to vote, you get what you see now. All of this still adds up to one major point.

We the People are responsible for this fiasco! Unless the electorate suddenly decides to do their homework and actually do a basic thing as learn about who they are voting for this country as we knew it is done. Whether I like it or not, this is the one cold hard fact. The problem lies within! Within the heart and soul of every legal voting citizen. If as I see it now and the majority is still either going to stand with their hands out and believe the lies and false promises, if they are going to march lockstep to their leader’s words, refusing to even think about it for a moment the United States moment in history is over!

In a way, this isn’t about Socialism, Racism or whatever. ‘It is about the complete disregard for the laws of our land, the basic tenets this country was founded on and in my eyes and most of all a slap in the face to the men and women who over the years have spilled this blood and given their lives to makes us free!

It is happening in front of our eyes and I for one am honestly afraid we don’t have much longer to stop the slide. The real question is are there enough American Voters willing to do the legwork to not only learn what the hell is going on but to actually act and vote!

I wish I could see this different Ditto, but at least at this moment, it looks bleak. Unless the silent majority actually makes an appearance this year and at the same time the brain dead lemmings suddenly open their eyes and even more so their minds to the reality around them, it is going to get worse. Again, one only has to look at the Gregs of the world or listen as I do to inane idiots who even now yell RACE! if they are reprimanded for being late to work every day (just one of many examples), or the millions of people who not only pay any taxes at all but in fact expect everything to be handed to them. When I sit there and watch this President preaching to the millions out there who cannot see what he really is, I get scary chills. One only had to listen to the crowd on the day he came up with his “you didn’t build it” small business remark. The reaction of the crowd that in effect was applauding the confiscation of everything I and all hard working Americans have achieved was the telling indication of how bad things really are now. millions believe this and worse, they don’t understand that once they give up everything to “Government Benevolence” , they have in fact allowed a dictatorship to be established. Like it or not, that is the fact.

Always remember. This predates Obama! I’m not calling the Red scare per say, but the tactics are the same in any pre-socialist country or dictatorship through history. OK, and so you agree then that it was to that special relationship forged by FDR and Churchill during FDR’s undeclared naval war with the Nazis in 1939.

Now America’s relationship with Britain transcends WWII and even the Founding, of course. The most important aspects of that relationship drew upon the Anglo-Saxon ethnicity, culture and institutions in British Isles more so than say with the Scots, the Welch, the Ulster-men and the Irish. You and I Greg do speak Anglo-Saxon , not Gaelic, not French, not Norwegian, not Dutch nor German? The US courts are based upon Anglo-Saxon courts, not Celtic or Continental European courts. Our shared Common Law is Anglo-Saxon, not the Irish Brehan Law, not Cannon Law and not the Napoleonic Code (except in LA). And since the audience to whom Mitt Romney was speaking is say culturally Anglo-Saxon would one expect an effective speaker to chose terminology suited to his primary audience. Terminology which may well differ from what we are accustomed to at on this side of the Atlantic.

It is hard to find much if anything to object to in what Mitt Romney said.

Contrary to popular belief, this is not the bust in question. The one that was returned is the one up in #75, which I suspect Sir Winston himself might have ordered removed to some convenient closet.

Romney says he’ll take it back. Has anyone offered it to him? It was only on loan for the duration of GWB’s stay to begin with. Obama declined an offered extension.
