Democrats Shafting the Military Again: A Financial Sneak Attack by Obama and the Democrats [Reader Post]

Democrats always attack, decimate, reduce, belittle, disarm, and de-fund the military.

Here is some more of the Democrat party putting down the military and making them pay taking their pay.

The United States military forces were greatly reduced by the Democrats after World War I in the years before the December 07, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. At that time our military had been reduced to a very dangerously low level. We had to pay dearly for that foolishness.

Such are the Democrats and their complete denial and ignorance of history.

The Democrats have always despised the American military, who maintains the freedom of the United States, so much so that they continuously attack the American military in any way they can, especially financially.

In the sixties the Air Force was paid twice a month, on the fifteenth and the thirtieth. Most military families lived payday to payday because the pay was so poor. They were forced to plan on two week budgets. Then their payday was changed to once a month, to being paid on the last business day of the month. The pay they planned on and needed on the fifteenth of the month did not happen. The total pay for the month was the same but families who planed on their pay every two weeks had to go an extra two weeks to receive that pay. This was extremely hard on those who had to live from payday to payday. For what it maybe worth, most of these families could have qualified for food stamps. In the military you could not even apply for food stamps.

But the government got a two week cash flow benefit.

So our payday became the last business day of the month, we survived and we adjusted.

Another outrage was promotion freezes; I went through several of these during my twenty plus years in the USAF.

Then there were the years of the pay freezes, no Cost Of Living Allowances (COLA, which was supposed to keep up with inflation).

There were years of reductions in forces, material, weapons, R&D, bases being closed, medical care (promised but not delivered).

There are many more.

Then the payday was changed again to the first business day of the month instead of the last business day of the month. Only a day or two change, but that had an effect on the government’s cash flow. Ours as well but we did not count, again we adjusted.

Here is the latest rip off (no other words apply).

The once a month pay that was paid on the first business day of the month was changed again.

December 2011, the payday was changed, this time the rule was that if the first of the month is a holiday or a weekend the payday would be the last business day of the preceding month.

Only a day or two you say?

Here is what a difference a day or two can make.

The kicker: January the first is always a holiday, therefore the January 2012 pay was moved to December 31, 2011.

The INTENDED consequences were that I and all other retired and active duty military personnel in all branches of military service would be taxed on thirteen months of pay (the thirteenth month was the January 02, 2012 pay that was received on December 31, 2011 and accounted as 2011 pay).

Count the days.

This increased my taxable income enough that part of my Social Security became taxable.

Wait!….What?

In case you did not know, Social Security IS taxable. Now you know about another democrat party lie.

To continue: this shifting of income from 2012 to 2011 put me in higher tax brackets. It also made part of my Social Security taxable which bumped me into yet another higher tax bracket.

The end result was an additional $251.00 in income taxes. This was effectively a reduction in pay of $251.00 for that “thirteenth month”.

That may not sound like much, but it is more than one month’s basic utilities (gas, water, and electric) for me.

How would you feel about that?

Obama and the democrats have once again given me and every retired and all active duty military personnel in all branches of service, another screwing. We will all have to pay taxes on thirteen months of pay for 2011. Multiply my cost/loss by the total number of retired and active duty military service personnel in all branches of service.

I am not typical; the real amount will be far higher.

That is a huge amount stripped (stolen) from our military and their families.

Once again our United States military pays the cost.

So where will this money go?

Where did the TARP go?

I can not understand how anyone, especially anyone in the military, can vote for Obama or any Democrat or even believe anything the Democrats say.

Well on second thought, maybe I can. I used to associate with people who were: “Blissfully Blind”, “Determinedly Stupid” and “Invincibly Ignorant”. Thankfully I got away from them without being infected.

(I think know they were liberals)

In 2012 I will have to pay taxes on twelve months of pay, the January 2013 pay will be moved to 2012. That is twelve months of pay. That means there is no way I can ever recover from this financial fraud.

This is another story you will never see in the MSM (Marxist, Socialist, Media, also known as the propaganda arm of the Obama administration/Democrat party).

Eisenhower and Nixon cut Military spending after the end of Korea and Vietnam. But that MIC is sooooooooo useful and sooooo honest, it must be the evil kenyan, marxist, socialist, atheist, nazi, commie, who’s to blame.

    Wah, wah, wah!

Boeing… One place we know Boeing is definitively not based out off anymore is Wichita, Kansas. On January 4th, Boeing announced it was moving the tanker work out of Kansas to other U.S. plants and closing its Wichita operation next year.

In 2008, Boeing asked Kansas officials to help win a $3.5 billion contract for 18 Air Force tankers. Wichita’s Mayor Carl Brewer says Kansas had a long history of coming through for Boeing. In fact, Axelrod notes that Boeing received 650 tax breaks over the last 30 years and $3.5 billion dollars in bonds.

Boeing would have failed if it had to face the Free Market and only exists today as a Company because of the Trillions of dollars it has received in government assistance.

Of course, when you’re a Corporate Criminal like Boeing getting free money from the government just… isn’t… enough… Boeing, the Corporate Criminals, admitted to stealing $644 Million via fraudulent contracts. That would be called stealing if you the regular person did it but a Corporate person named Boeing gets the nomenclature of fraud.

Boeing is a company who could never succeed except for Billions of tax payer assistance.

He also cut BAH and other benefits to those utilizing their GI Bill benefits. The military made him look good by taking out OBL and host of others and this is the way he repays them. He wasted no time in taking credit for our military’s successes in GWOT. Apparently he doesn’t feel that those who served their country are worthy like his union buddies that he takes care of (Obamacare waivers). I have been very underwhelmed by the VA since he took office as well. Shinseki is proving to be as good at straightening out the VA as he was at being the Army Chief of Staff.

  13. “Where did TARP go?”

Ask President Bush he’d signed it into Law!

Veterans benefits are hurtful to national defense: “The amounts have gotten to the point where they are hurtful. They are taking away from the nation’s ability to defend itself,” says David S. Chu, the Pentagon’s undersecretary for personnel and readiness, under President Bush 2005.

And when Veterans groups got together and sue for better health, the Bush Regime fights to have the case dismissed.

Or how Faux News constantly undercut Veterans while President Bush was in office to help the Bush/Cheney Presidency get away with screwing Veterans over, To Bill, Veterans are homeless because they don’t “work hard and keep it honest” like Bill.

But, hey facts tend to destroy your bogus attacks on President Obama…

@Grung_e_Gene: I served under every president from Carter to Obama. Bush was 10 times the Commander-in-Chief Obama is or will ever hope to be. Amongst other things, Bush signed into the law the post 9-11 GI Bill, another law that allowed returning Reserve Component members who couldn’t find work after redeployment back home to collect unemployment and health care benefits, and he also gave the military good pay raises as opposed to the crap they’ve gotten. He also didn’t try jacking up the cost of their health care either. Sorry, the left wing talking points don’t cut it with those of us who walked the walk. We know who took care of us and respected us and who didn’t. Perhaps you can enlighten us to your personal experiences serving under both presidents. While you are at it, you can elaborate on your accusation that we are bigots. Point out exactly where anyone here attacked Obama’s race. You also still haven’t refuted anything that was said here in reference to Obama going after Veteran’s benefits or anything in Al’s original post.

    Mr Cooper,

I appreciate your angst if you feel you’re getting a raw deal. I haven’t delved deeply enough into the budget to know what total defense dollars flow into your pocket, and the pockets of other services members, as opposed to other programs, but I have to question your assertion that ,”Democrats always attack, decimate, reduce, belittle, disarm, and de-fund the military”. At least as far as Obama is concerned, that’s simply not true. This is from Freedom Works, not exactly a paragon of the Left:
President Obama is Not Actually Cutting Military Spending, But He Should

Current military spending is higher than at any time in our entire history. The Pentagon budget for 2010 was $693 billion—more than all other discretionary spending programs combined. That’s nearly half of all military spending on earth. Military spending has doubled over the past decade when adjusted for inflation. Under President Bush, military spending averaged 3.9 percent of Gross Domestic Product. It has increased to 4.9 percent—a full percentage point higher under President Obama.

A long time ago I read that a Federal politician’s pension goes up 4% for every 3% rise in inflation. They actually make money on inflation. Is this still true? Another example of the politician’s “Me first” attitude!

My son will have been in the Air Force for 18 years next month. I have said for some time that the Federal government should be funded by the numbers. Each agency, department, committee, etc., would be given a number rating and funded by those numbers. The military would be #1, and the only #1. Even the democrats have to realize that without a strong military, they won’t have a country to complain about.

    And……….
I’m back! Well now that we’ve removed that pathetic card from your right-wing arsenal what’s next?

I’ve included multiple links pointing out the rampant and blatant negligent disregard President George W(orst President in History) Bush and the Republican dominated House and Senate had for Veterans.

The merest mention of Walter Reed… or the Veterans suicides should have you calling for Bush and Cheney to be investigated but your frothing at the mouth hatred of Liberals allows the Republican Chicken Hawk War Mongers to get away with murder. But how about allowing Osama Bin LAden to escape because Bush wasn’t concerned with his capture,
60 Minutes had on the Delta Force Commander Dalton Fury tasked with killing Osama Bin Laden. During the interview, the nome de guerred Fury stated how those above him declined to allow the Operators to enter and execute their mission.

Delta developed an audacious plan to come at bin Laden from the one direction he would never expect.

“We want to come in on the back door,” Fury explains. “The original plan that we sent up through our higher headquarters, Delta Force wants to come in over the mountain with oxygen, coming from the Pakistan side, over the mountains and come in and get a drop on bin Laden from behind.”

But they didn’t take that route, because Fury says they didn’t get approval from a higher level. “Whether that was Central Command all the way up to the president of the United States, I’m not sure,” he says.

The next option that Delta wanted to employ was to drop hundreds of landmines in the mountain passes that led to Pakistan, which was bin Laden’s escape route.

But they didn’t do that either, because Fury says that plan was also disapproved. He says he has “no idea” why.

“How often does Delta come up with a tactical plan that’s disapproved by higher headquarters?” Pelley asks.

“In my experience, in my five years at Delta, never before,” Fury says.

As for his/her last post, remember how Old Trooper who used to post here and was one of the commanders of a Ranger unit who was in Tora Bora at the time as well as Gen Tommy Franks who was the CENTCOM commander at the time, dispelled the notion that we could have gotten OBL at the time and that had we have tried, we would have been repeating the same mistakes the Soviets did and we would have lost a lot of American lives for a mission that probably wouldn’t have succeeded?
