Obama Blames The Outrageously Excessive 2010 GSA Party On Bush

Loading

Every single time anything goes wrong for Obama he does what he does best. Blame the other guy:

The Obama administration is responding to the recent report that shows a federal agency spent more that $800,000 on a lavish conference near Las Vegas by putting some of the blame on the Bush administration.

“At least we have taken, bold, swift forceful action to hold those responsible accountable and put in place protections to make sure this never happened again,” a White House official told Fox News.

..The administration also argued Friday night that the cost of the Western Regional Conference increased sharply under the Bush White House — from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006 to $655,025 in 2008, then $840,616 in 2010, or just 28 percent under Obama.

I’m sure this excessive spending has been going on for years but that isn’t the issue now. The issue is that this instance happened under Obama’s watch. It was bad under Bush, it’s even worse under Obama so do something about it and stop whining about it being the other guy.

This man has never taken responsibility for anything.

Worst President evah!

Exit quote:

One thing that Bush did while in office, like him or hate him he took responsibility for the things that happened under his watch. Obama has yet to take responsibility for anything. At this point his legacy as the “Not Me” President is solid as a rock. What a gutless, coreless punk.

It seems to me that the Obama administration has taken the blame for the 28% increase on their watch, which they have taken action to remedy.

They’re also pointing out that there was an increase of over 700 percent during the previous administration, with no effective effort to remedy anything.

Which seems better?

And who is Martha Johnson?
In late 2008, Johnson became co-leader of the Obama transition team evaluating GSA.

Past GSA Controversy:
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) and the General Services Administration sparred in October 2007 over a contracting controversy involving Sun Microsystems.
The senator accused top-level GSA officials of interfering in contract negotiations with Sun in 2006.
He said they pressured the contracting officer to sign a “potentially bad contract” and removed him from the negotiations when he refused.
He said the officer who replaced him awarded the contract under terms he opposed and finally Sun had a lucrative contract.
That new GSA head?
Lurita A. Doan.
She’s gone, now, too because of the spending on OBAMA’s watch.
She should have known better.
She headed GSA because of that past contracting funny-business under Bush.

@Greg: Greg, what a tool you are. Let’s stop the blame Bush game because it makes you sound like an idiot. What just happened was under you messiah’s watch period. Geeeez.

I don’t recall Bush blaming Clinton for every hurtle he had to face during his time in office. Oh that’s right, Bush was an adult – infinitely a better leader and a better man than his successor. Obama is simply a man-child whose skin is so thin that it’s the only thing remotely transparent about him.

Oh, and these SAME people received BONUSES too!!!

I just saw a short debate on this with 2 contributors – one a Dem and one a Republican: Now, this happened under Obama’s watch including these bonuses (11 months ago) – What struck me was what the Democrat said: That Obama was ‘right’ to ensure “all the ‘facts’ were in”…. before jumping to conclusions because this is what happened with the [ Shirley Sharod case] Obama jumped to conclusions before the ‘ facts’ were in with the Sharod case… [and this contributor apparently though it was perfectly ok for them to receive their bonuses because all the ‘facts’ were not in at the time?].

Then I’m thinking are you serious?

It struck me… we must have the “facts” – as with this GSA case under Obama’s watch ….

BUT! In George Zimmerman’s situation he was accused, tried, and just about executed….and with Obama’s/Holders blessings – WITHOUT ALL THE FACTS??? Did anyone in this administration mention to the pubic anything about pulling the reins back until we get “facts” in this case?

Hmmm why ‘is’ that??

Democrats spin their own web when they talk out of their Azz…

Hypocrisy Anyone?

@Greg:

I see that you miss the point of the article, Greg. But of course, considering your political ideology, that isn’t a surprise. Liberal/progressives never accept responsibility for anything. They want authority over all aspects of our lives, but none of the responsibility for how those lives turn out.

Obama exemplifies this on a near daily basis.

Please provide an example from Obama where he accepts responsibility for something that has gone wrong, including your source.

These bureaus have to be cut or eliminated big time. Learn from history. Rome fell before the barbarians hit. Imperial departments, gross taxation, and eventually runaway inflation. Soviet Russia had the same outcome. Who’s next?

@johngalt: Well said John. I am guessing that Greg has a note in his mirror so when he looks into it each morning and sees his pathetic self that says “it’s not my fault and who can I blame today”??

The numbers concerning the Bush administration that are quoted up above are from an April 9, 2012 Fox News article, and came from Fox News fact checking:

“According to figures obtained by Fox News, the budget for the so-called Western Regions Conference rose from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006. It then jumped to $655,025 in 2008.”

The facts concerning the previous administration were only mentioned in the first place in response to efforts by blatantly dishonest right wing media commentators and equally dishonest right wing politicians to pin all blame for government waste on Obama.

Romney, of course, jumped on that particular band wagon immediately. He’ll apparently jump on any wagon that’s moving:

“The GSA spending scandal is the latest example of the Obama Administration’s total disregard for spending discipline and taxpayer dollars,” the campaign continued. “While his administration gleefully uses the Treasury as a piggy bank, President Obama continues to launch false and misleading attack on proposals to rein in federal spending.”

It’s hard not to make connections with the Bush administration when things like this come up. The truth of the matter is that few if any of the enormous problems that the Obama administration has had to deal with suddenly came into being on or after January 20, 2009. They were already waiting when Obama walked into the Oval Office, left behind by the previous tenants.

Twelve continuous years of republican Congressional majorities, with a republican president in the White House through the last six. . . Remember?

I don’t know why it’s Obama that’s constantly accused of playing the blame game. As near as I can tell, accusations and blame shifting have been a republican obsession since they got their butts soundly kicked in 2008. Pinning everything on Obama has been and remains their only political strategy. He’s actually the only thing that unifies them.

So now Greg is trying to be an Economic’s Conservative by pointing out the weak kneed Rinos on the Hill while ignoring that the GSA is an Executive Branch ran item?

You can try to rewrite the history all you want, Greg. We know that spending for Executive and Leg. Branch went up for Bush between 2001 to 2006 at a constant pace as sat by Budget from the Senate and was rapidly accellerated by the Democrat majority that took over Congressional and Seantoral power by literally making a Blank Check since 2006 ongoing (Harry Reid’s Democrats have YET to pass a Budget, as they are legally bound to do, for the last 3 years). Blaming a previous president that’s been out of power for 3 years is a fail on Obama’s part especially since he is the head boss of the Exectuive Branch and could force punitive collections on GSA employees who mispent this money. Most of Us here have been asking for the Government to trim back on wasteful spending and what the GSA has done here is just the tip of the Ice Berg of a spending problem. None of what happened at this, “Event” that was spent on was remotely connected to Government Infrastructure or effective Operations. It was a Prima Dona spending spree by fools for fools at YOUR and mine tax payer expense.

the right wing cannot find it’s perfect candidate because he committed suicide in a bunker in 1945

@ken meaux:

Godwin. Party of one.

Godwin… Party of one… Your table is ready.

@ken meaux:

Hate to break it to you, moron, but Hitler’s ideals and Socialistic concepts of Government Control of Business and Social Life is a Leftist building block to Modern Liberal ideals.

Then again, you’re either too stupid or a seriously bad troll.

Jeez people. Perhaps this is an over site on Obamas watch but at least he is doing something about it. I really don’t care what Bush did since Bush is gone. More concerned about what to do now. I’m a liberal and I feel this GSA scandal is a gross example of why we do need to make government smaller. It would be great if some of the people who responded would think logically instead of along party lines. We are Americans not Democrats and Republicans.

partly right, mainly WRONG!!
left equates with socialism
right equates with facism
learn something moron!!

I am now totally correct in declaring that right wing conservatism is a form of mental illness, and I will no longer argue with a cripple
