Flip-Flopper Romney In Ohio

Loading

Reminiscent of flip-flopper Kerry. First he’s for it:

My friends in Ohio are fighting to defend crucial reforms that the state has put in place to limit the power of union bosses and keep taxes low. I stand with John R. Kasich and Ohio’s leaders as they take on this important fight to get control of government spending. Please visit www.BetterOhio.org for more information.

Then he’s neither for it or against it….just agnostic I suppose:

Campaigning in Ohio today, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney stopped by a Republican Party phone-bank making calls in support of Gov. John Kasich’s government union reform referendum, but refused to endorse the actual referendum. CNN’s Peter Hamby called the scene an “incredible moment in politics.”

Kasich already signed his government union reforms into law in March of this year, not long after Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker won his battle against government unions. But Democrats, with the help from the AFL-CIO, placed a referendum on next week’s ballot Issue 2, that would repeal the new law. A vote for the referendum would keep the law, a vote against would repeal.

One more example of “finger in the wind politics,” as Perry described it today.

The liberal rag TPM says it’s because the bill is going to lose:

Of course, there seems to be a fairly simple explanation for Romney’s hedging: the bill looks to be going down hard. Quinnipiac’s polling showed that repeal forces have a 25 point lead at the moment, and a recent Public Policy Polling (D) survey showed a 20 point one.

And with the law seemingly going down in flames, it’s probably not good political maneuvering to come out hard in support of it. Romney was shown in a recent PPP survey to be in a good position in Ohio, with the pollster even going as far to say that if the election was held tomorrow, President Obama would lose the state to Romney.

That certainly sounds like the Romney we all know but then why even show up at that phone bank? Why? Because he wanted it to appear as if he was supporting the referendum without having to SAY that he supported it so when he gets nominated Obama and pals can’t use it against him. That’s how confident he is that he will be nominated I believe.

This is the kind of man that is THIS close to being nominated by the Republican Party.

Why take a stand on an issue when you can just hedge your bets. It’s not like this issue is important to conservative voter’s right?

Drew at Ace of Spades HQ makes a great observation. Romney may very well get the nomination because of the “Anyone But Obama” voters

…But the question has been, will people volunteer for him and do the other things that help put a candidate over the top. Why would Republicans in Ohio who are working their butts fighting the good fight here come out and work for a guy who won’t support them?

Exit quote:

“I’ve been on team Romney for a year and a half, two years,”

…“I think he’s the most qualified and I’m sick of personalities. I don’t need a rock star president and I never did, and I don’t care about celebrity. I think he’s the smartest, most capable and knows the most about the economy and can hopefully do something to fix our recession.”

Perry, I mean Romney is bona fide poll watcher and will adjust his beliefs according to the polls. He always been that way. No change at all from the last time, except that he is much more polished this time around. He reminded me of a used car salesman back in 08, and now he has moved up to a top of the line salesman for BMW.

If Romney gets the GOP nomination it will make no difference who you vote for in the general election, both are hard core liberals. I won’t hold my nose and vote in this election as I have in the past, if Romney or Obama are the two choices then we deserve absolutely everything that we get.

@Gary G. Swenchonis: No one watches polls better than Democrats. I remember Slick being the expert and now 0-bama.

And didn’t the “Tea party” candidate who won the recent NY special election endorse this moron?

Tea Party = establishment.

@Bobachek: We got 0-bama last time and believe me anyone would and will be better than this known loser!!

@Ivan: That’s the way to really bring substance to the debate…

RINO Romney is one slick politician and a major flip-flopper! He wants to be president so bad that he will stand by the polls instead of his core beliefs. If he looks good, it’s because he’s had over 5 years to practice! I’d rather have Santorum than Romney, would rather have Sarah over all, but like Perry in this group of misfits!

If we want more lying, then we can just let BO have another term…

They’re all a bunch of flip-floppers and incompetents. Why do you think Obama has received more campaign fund from Wall Street than all the Republican candidates combined? One reason is that he’s the only candidate who has enough sense and experience to govern.

@Liberal1 (objectivity):
Surely you jest! He has less experience to rule, er govern, than any high school kid who understands history, civics and economics. He’s a socialist, marxist anti-American who got by on his (questional) good looks and charm. He was invented by the liberals and subsidized by the media. He gets more money because the donors are trying to curry favor with him. We are NOT better off than we were 3 years ago.

@Liberal1 (objectivity): You said:

One reason is that he’s the only candidate who has enough sense and experience to govern.

When is he going to begin using this “sense and experience?”

Fed up #7 Repub “group of misfits” Amen to that brother. Is it too late for Sarah?

@rich wheeler: Wouldn’t expect a liberal such as yourself to like some of the true conservatives that are running for the GOP nomination.

Romney, the Don Juan of fake plastic is being forced on us by the likes of Rove, Bush, and the establishment GOP only to give the current occupant another 4 yrs, to give Jeb Bush a chance in 2016. Rove set us up in 2008, knowing full well, that McCain would lose; now they are trying it again with this weasel – and I hope and pray that the voters giving them a big middle finger.

@anticsrocks:
Well, I’M not a liberal and I do agree that there are several conservatives among the group of “misfits”, but that doesn’t mean that they are capable of leading us out of the hole that this administration has worked so hard to dig!

@Bobachek: Well said!

I don’t think it’s that complicated. I think Romney would probably beat Obama… but that would suit the DC insiders just fine. It’s not just that they set up one candidate to lose in the general election, it’s that they try to make sure that both major candidates are acceptable to them. I’m sure that in a Romney/Obama matchup they would sleep easy.

@FedUp: Well Fed, I can say that a President Gingrich/Bachmann/Cain/Santorum would be a thousand times better than Obama.

While none of the above mentioned are perfect, they are all solid conservatives and would do a remarkable job in turning this economy and thereby this country around.

Let us remember that even the greatest President in modern times, Ronald Reagan passed legislation while governor of California that was pretty left. And he turned our economy and country around 180 degrees from the doldrums that Carter had us in.
