Liquid Motivation

I’ve been asked many times how we survive working virtually every day for a year straight. It’s a combination of numbness, lack of anything better to do, and these.

There are those who argue that health concerns in a war zone is a relative situation and I don’t want to argue, but (now comes the big Hillary sized caveat, at the posterior of the sentence) as a person who often drove most or all night to work a job the next day while running on coffee and Diet-Coke (the first energy drink) for periods of days at a time. I can attest, it takes a toll on the body and the urinary tract with the passage of time.

To be blunt and direct, at 55, I was almost at the prime of my life, but I was pissing like an 80 year old man. With my back to the wall, I decided it was time to take drastic actions. I quit the macho-image drink of Diet-Coke and limited myself to two cups of coffee in the morning and I was suddenly pissing like a teenager. Oh, how the little things in life can be so joyful!

Now, well into my sixties, in a crowded public washroom, I stand well back from the urinal and let loose a stream that embarrasses many twenty year olds. That my friend is a healthy urinary tract. I will try to post a video as soon as possible.

Dihydrogen monoxide is considered by many to be part of the Global Warming Scam, I beg to differ. I consider it to be beneficial to human health and the health of the planet.

@Skookum: No wonder our students rank so low on science tests — or any other test requiring simple analytical thinking. Those “joiners” mentioned on the YouTube clip are perhaps better known as “lemmings.”

I agree with you on the health benefits of throwing out the soda. I’m sure you’re a healthier person all around — not just your urinary tract.

The first (and last) energy drink I ever tried tasted as I imagined piss would taste.

Well, I don’t think Curt will get any energy drink advertising money for a while.

Rich, that was supposed to be funny. I realize my humor is sometimes only appreciated by me, but it’s the best I can do. I commend you on your work outs, keep it up (no pun intended). But I was as serious as a heart attack concerning the urinary problems. It may just be my body’s reaction, I don’t know, but I do suffer adverse reactions from the drinks. Maybe one of our physicians will weigh in on the subject. I laid it on a little thick as a privilege of artistic license, but the bare facts are the facts.

Glad to hear you are still working out.

Rich, since this is a military thread, have you weighed in on the Light Bird West. (No disrespect intended, it’s just the first opportunity I’ve had to use the phrase in a long time, it is an enlisted man’s expression of respect) I admire the man and I think he will eventually become a respected leader of all Americans. The mistake he made in the ME is one I would hope I’d make myself for my men.

I have the utmost respect for many of these military men, especially the ones that carried a pack and rifle. I feel much safer relying on a man who has made split second decisions, when mistakes are catastrophic. He made a decision during the debt ceiling debate that hurt him among the TEA Party group, but I am watching him carefully for the future. Those important decisions at that level often involve more than we see in the peanut gallery.

Skookum…. it’s the Phosphoric acid in the soda that bothers you…. VERY ROUGH on the Kidneys and such… thus the effects you see/feel….

Hankster, I hate to think of myself as a wimp when it comes to phosphoric acid; however, coffee has no effect on me or mine. Thank you for the input.

Skooks Lt. Col. West represents a district in which my brother used to reside. I respect him as a military man and like you, other things being equal, prefer a POTUS with combat experiance.I’ ll watch his politics closely. He doesn’t seem to be getting a fair shake from Repub. Party.
