Obama’s Rolling Mortuary Tour [Reader Post]

Too good to pass up.

Obama’s battle bus no symbol of hope

In British elections we’re used to what we call “battle buses”, cheerfully painted wagons, festooned with party slogans and colours.

US President Barack Obama has embarked on his first bus tour in office.

But his vehicle for the trip through the rural parts of three Midwestern states looks like it really is heading for a battle.

Jimmy Carter is Rick Perry’s biggest fan…[Reader Post]

If Barack Obama were prone to conspiracy theories, he might think the last couple of weeks were part of a plot orchestrated by Jimmy Carter to salvage his own legacy.

First off the Democrats get the GOP to acquiesce to a debt ceiling bill that will result in the federal government raising taxes and increasing spending by over $7 trillion over the next decade. Continue reading

The Left Still Doesn’t Get the Tea Party, As Told Through the Stages of Death and Dying Part 2 of 2 [Reader Post]

Remember those long forgotten days of yesteryear, as in the years of 2000-2008? Nobody on the left seems to. Remember sayings like “Jeffersonian”, “Purple State” (along with this Newsweek cover after the 2004 elections), and phrases like “I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.”? For that matter, remember all of the silly rationalizations that the left had to come up with to reconcile with the fact that they openly wanted our troops to lose a war only because of their personal hatred for the president? We heard that “Being a vegetarian is patriotic”, “Riding your bicycle to work is patriotic”, even lines dumb enough to suggest that obeying a law whose noncompliance will land you in prison was patriotic. You might, but nobody on the left does. When a leftist calls for civility, what they’re saying is, “don’t behave like we do.” Continue reading

Say What? August 16, 2011 Edition [Reader Post]

Sen. John Kerry, D-mass.: “I believe this is, without question, the Tea Party downgrade. This is the Tea Party downgrade because a minority of people in the House of Representatives countered even the will of many Republicans in the United States Senate who were prepared to do a bigger deal.”

President Obama told a crowd at a battery plant in Holland, Michigan, that Republicans must “find a way to put country ahead of party.” Then he flew off to do 2 fundraisers. Continue reading

Slime is always green [Reader Post]

Terry McAuliffe was a legendary Clinton fund raiser. Al Gore called him “the greatest fundraiser in the universe.”

McAuliffe also had the Midas Touch. In 1998 he invested $100,000 into something called Global Crossing and within 18 months had $18 million in his pocket. In less than four years Global Crossing went bankrupt, but McAuliffe knew to cash out well ahead of that. There’s more of this sordid affair here. Continue reading

Warren Buffett’s Deceitful Demagoguery

A number of my liberal FB friends are linking to Warren Buffet’s NYTimes barf-ed, “Stop Coddling The Super Rich“. Learjet limosine liberals like him and Hollywood elites love to demagogue the issue. They can afford to do so because they don’t have to put their money where their mouth is and be taxed on their wealth:

Tis The Season For Logic And Reason

I’ve fallen my fair share of trees, but don’t get the wrong opinion, I am not a professional faller. We didn’t log commercially, we had a sawmill on the ranch and only bought lumber when we needed hardwoods other than poplar for building furniture or windows. We usually cut two to twenty truck loads of trees every winter depending on what was to be built later on in the year.

Falling is a technical and dangerous skill. Widow makers and barber chairs can happen in less than a second and your life is changed forever or over. A inch and a half branch falling from thirty feet up is enough to crack a hard hat and the skull of an unlucky faller. Trees with a vertical imperfection or split will sometimes crack lengthwise during the falling procedure and the top slab will crush or cut the faller in half. Actually it is all a numbers game. I would fall between a hundred and six hundred live trees every winter. A real logging faller will fall over a hundred trees a day. His chances of getting killed are much greater. Those numbers are for green or live trees and does not take into consideration the dry trees you log for firewood.
