President Barack Obama on Tuesday called a compromise to raise the debt ceiling and launch the U.S. government on a path toward deficit reduction “just the first step” toward strengthening the country’s economy and creating jobs.
Job creation? Wait, let’s check the meter:
Yep. I knew it. I have long said that democrats are absent capacity for long term memory and Barack Obama validates that assertion regularly. In fact, Obama and democrats are entirely dependent on their supporters suffering from early onset dementia.
Obama tipped his hand as to his plans
“We need to begin by extending tax cuts for middle-class families so that you have more money in your paychecks next year. … And while we’re at it, we need to make sure that millions of workers who are still pounding the pavement looking for jobs to support their families are not denied needed unemployment benefits,” Obama said.
Extending tax cuts helps only those who have jobs. Obama’s proposal does nothing to even address jobs. It’s not a jobs consideration- it’s a bribe aimed right at 2012.
Obama was joined by the lemmings in Congress:
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told reporters minutes after the debt-ceiling deal passed: “It is now time for Congress to get back to our regularly scheduled program, and that means jobs.”
“With this debt-reduction package completed, the decks are now clear for a single-minded focus on jobs in September,” Schumer, the party messaging chief, said. “We now have had the chance to pivot away from budget battles to jobs. … The jobs issue won’t have to play second fiddle to the deficit issue anymore.”
democrats haven’t put together a budget for more than 800 days, let alone a jobs bill.
Reid, who is as concerned with cowboy poetry as anything else, came out with this
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said that the first jobs bill to move after the recess will be the patent reform legislation.
Reid and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) said the bill, which speeds patent applications, is expected to create 200,000 jobs. Leahy, the bill’s sponsor, said there is bipartisan agreement with the GOP to move it, but he could not identify any other bills with a chance of passage.
Sure it will. Health care reform will create 400,000 jobs immediately too.
“Yesterday, we crossed a bridge,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said during a press briefing in the Capitol. “Enough talks about the debt, we have to talk about jobs.”

And there’s more:
“Few challenges facing America, and the world, are more urgent than combating climate change,” “My presidency will mark a new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change that will strengthen our security and create millions of new jobs in the process.”
Obama also had this to say:
“Everyone’s going to have to chip in. That’s only fair.”
as he put forward a series of philosophical questions:
“While Washington has been absorbed in this debate about deficits, people across the country are asking, what can we do to help the father looking for work? What are we going to do for the single mother who’s seen her hours cut back at the hospital? What are we going to do to make it easier for businesses to put up that ‘now hiring’ sign?” he said. “That’s part of the reason that people are so frustrated with what’s been going on in this town.”
Well, here’s what Obama will do to chip in:
As he signed off emergency legislation today to prevent the government defaulting on its debt, President Obama spoke of the need to work together for Americans who cannot ‘make ends meet’.
So, with hindsight, rushing off for a lavish 50th birthday party in his honour – starring Dreamgirls singer Jennifer Hudson – was probably not very sensitive.
There has been speculation for days as to whether the President was going to make it to his own fundraising 50th birthday party – a plush affair at a $40,000 a night ballroom in Chicago.
$35,00 a plate. $10,000 per picture.

And he’ll top off Obama week with a bus tour! And the point of that bus tour?
President Barack Obama plans a bus tour of the Midwest the week of Aug. 15 with a focus on jobs, a White House official said.
Jennifer Psaki, the White House deputy communications director, confirmed a report in today’s New York Times but didn’t offer any additional details. The president, after signing deficit-reduction legislation yesterday, said he would be turning his attention to “new jobs, higher wages and faster economic growth.”
See? This time he really, really means it. Honest.
A suggestion for the 2012 democrat campaign:
I’ll tip my hat to the new hope and change
Take the old facts and just rearrange
Smile and grin at the dopes all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I’ll get on my knees and pray
We will get fooled again
Will get fooled again
