Canada Stands With Israel

O’ Canada!

Being half Canadian myself I couldn’t be prouder of the country and its leaders:

Canadian delegation blocks mention of 1967 lines in Group of Eight leaders’ joint statement calling Israel, Palestinians to return to peace talks.

Group of Eight leaders had to soften a statement urging Israel and the Palestinians to return to negotiations because Canada objected to a specific mention of 1967 borders, diplomats said on Friday.

Canada’s right-leaning Conservative government has adopted a staunchly pro-Israel position in international negotiations since coming to power in 2006, with Prime Minister Stephen Harper saying Canada will back Israel whatever the cost.

Diplomats involved in Middle East discussions at the G8 summit said Ottawa had insisted that no mention of Israel’s pre-1967 borders be made in the leaders’ final communiqué, even though most of the other leaders wanted a mention.

“The Canadians were really very adamant, even though Obama expressly referred to 1967 borders in his speech last week,” one European diplomat said.

One of the key goals of this summit was apparently supposed to be a unified statement on the conflict but they insisted on including the idiotic call for Israel to return to its 1967 borders. Something that will NEVER happen.

And Canada was the only one to stand with Israel.

Before he took office, Canada’s policy on Israel was identical to Europe’s-meaning lots of lip service about being ‘a friend of Israel’ while in practice opposing it in every international forum and lavishly funding its enemies

Britain is already making threats:

“Mr. Harper clearly is the odd man out on this one, and it won’t do him any favours,”

What a world we live in now since Obama took office. The United States and Britain used to fight tooth and nail against tyrants and terrorists….now that Obama and Cameron have come in to office we have become a shadow of our former selves. We now stand against one of our closest allies in the Middle East as they fight for their survival against those same terrorists and tyrants.

Shameful.

I thought Bebe was coming to Canada. I was wrong, heaven forbid. Harper’s at the G8.
There’s plenty of money going to Israel, both private and public. Harper always gets the Jewish vote, except for the Marxist moonbats.
They always walk on the Imanutjob(Iran) speeches at the UN, also.
Are they the only ones in Bebe’s corner?

Nice to know there’s one leader on this continent that isn’t an anti-semitic terrorist supporter.

    Good catch, Curt.

All of Europe seems to have slid into the socialist abyss and beyond help. Harper is an intelligent leader, and other than his (distasteful) pandering to immigrants with opening the flood gates from China wide, he is an effective manager, on his way to dramatically reducing Canada’s deficit. He doesn’t play pretend like the pompous Teleprompter In Chief, and he is a Chartered Accountant by training.

Can you imagine? A leader who can actually understand a balance sheet? What a refreshing concept. America should kidnap him and plant him in the White House – Harper has the mental acuity to straighten the financial mess out, and stimulate small and medium sized businesses on the way to the fix. Harper also doesn’t believe in a government run economy, unlike the despicable loons currently filling the Obama Administration.

It is also NOT a good sign that so many countries are turning against Israel.

Canadians are resolute, ambitious, intelligent and invariably polite, even if not lavish Tippers.

All the Maple Leaf needs is a place where the weather is warm in the winter (beach not necessary).

Not bad for a socialist country, eh?

Orpo1- you are bang on. Alberta is a conservative bastion. No rinos here.
On your Memorial Day weekend, I want to give a shout out to Screwball George Buzz Beurling, Canada’s leading fighter ace who shot down 27 Axis warplanes over Malta, during a 2 week period. These were dire times, the summer of 42. There were many top flight Luftwaffe pilots to contend with. He was shot down 4 times. The RAF and RCAF grounded him several times for being too much of a lone wolf. He taught gunnery until he was fired, yes i mean fired. That’s probably the only Canadian to be fired before the end of the war.
Beurling ferried fighter planes to Israel during 1948 and died in a fiery crash in Rome. He was buried as a colonel for the IDF. His final resting place is Mount Carmel in Israel.

  11. oil guy from ALBERTA, yes those super heros, contributed so much to win the WAR,
they should always be remembered, by the followed generation,
they could think for themself in a warzone situation, and their personal decitions to fight would follow a chain reaction of survivors who made it back because of the initiative and prompt judgement of those selfmade men and woman.
today they have to follow stupid rules of engagement that supress their ability to react personly at a split moment on the war event; CAN you forsee them MARINES HAVING BEEN INVITED BY A WARLORD
IN AFGHANISTAN TO BE FORCE TO GO, AND GET CAUGHT UP IN AN AMBUSH, WHICH KILLED SO MANY. WHAT A MESS THIS WAR HAS BECOME.

IMO and observations only a small number of Americans do not stand in support of Israel. I for one was not at all surprised at Obama’s pro-Palistinian position support considering his past anti-Israel affronts, and knowing his partial Islam upbringing.

    @Bees

With Obama as Commander in Chief, possibly. However Congress would likely demand action from the President to aid Israel if a jihadic war against Israel begins and Obama just sits on his hands as he did with Iran.
