Dr. Vincent Courtillot on how the Sun controls climate, not CO2…

This was up in the featured post section for a few days and it’s such a good video I had to bring it down to the main page.

It features a 30 minute presentation by Dr. Vincent Courtillot who is a professor of geophysics at the University Paris-Diderot and Chair of paleomagnetism and geodynamics of the Institut Universitaire de France. It’s a fascinating and concise presentation, well worth the 30 minutes of your time to watch. In it he explains how solar cycles control the climate and also notes that IPCC climate computer models do not correlate with observations….I know, shocker. Continue reading

Obama’s incoherent oil policy [Reader Post]

The price of oil reached a 30 month high of $108 per barrel on April 1.

Almost as if a signal was given, a host of articles appeared recently all saying exactly the same thing.

You Can’t Drill a Way to Cheap Gas

We can’t drill our way to energy independence Continue reading

Misdirection: “When we play our Charades” [Reader Post]

“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive”.

Over the past fifty years, I have noticed that every time it appears that congress, or the president, is about to do something good or useful for the country; a major diversion suddenly appears.

(This is especially true when the subject is taxes)

“Oh look! A Loon!” or “I saw big foot once” or “uncontrolled meltdown at major national candy factory”. Continue reading

Koran Burning Aftermath – Senators Consider Limits On Free Speech

What a crock:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told CBS’s Bob Schieffer on Sunday that some members of Congress were considering some kind of action in response to the Florida Quran burning that sparked a murderous riot at a United Nations complex in Afghanistan and other mayhem.

“Ten to 20 people have been killed,” Reid said on “Face the Nation,” but refused to say flat-out that the Senate would pass a resolution condemning pastor Terry Jones.

Mission Accomplished [Reader Post]

It’s over in Libya.

As the civilian casualties mount and a coalition strike has killed 12 in Brega, including three medical students, Libyan rebels are in retreat.

Libyan rebels have called for a cease fire in the confluence of events.

- Barack Obama gave up on using force to remove Gaddafi. Continue reading

An Appeal to Morality [Reader Post]

One of the things which we seem to be losing in America is a sense of morality, and morality is necessary for the function of any republic.

Recently, a Stephen Learner has been out speaking to radical groups, with the proposition that, we need to double the number of foreclosures in order to bring down the system. Now, he teaches that, this will restore the wealth to its rightful owners by bringing down the banks. The idea is, you cannot simply tell someone, “You need to perform this very immoral act.” You need to present it to them so that they can justify what they are doing in their own minds. You CAN fool most of the people most of the time….[Reader Post]

Folks, there are times, upon hearing some of the stuff coming out of DC, when any intelligent person can only sit back, scratch their head, rub their eyes, shake the head , then scratch the head again. It has become obvious that when the ‘best and brightest’ we send to Washington to oversee our best interests and desires cross over the Beltway, they immediately descend into a world where ‘re-election’ is the objective of the day. ‘Double-speak’, it appears, is another objective of the day and it is immediately obvious that all politicians have a firm belief that it works upon the electorate as they use if practically every time they open their mouths to answer a simple and reasonable question. ‘Double-speak’ to the electorate is just a fancy euphemism for a LIE, but for politicians who want to speak what they think whomever is listening wants to hear, it’s their method of ‘heading them off at the pass.’ Continue reading
