What did the President know and when did he know it? [Reader Post]

ak 47 Pictures, Images and Photos

“The Fast and the Furious” was a gun-running program that allowed thousands of AK-47′s to enter Mexico from the United States ostensibly to allow tracking of their movements. At the same time it allows the AK-47′s to go into Mexico, it is the policy of this administration to arm border patrol agents with bean bags as their first line of defense against AK-47′s.

Such policy got border patrol Brian Terry agent killed in December. Terry was killed with one of the assault rifles that this administration sent into Mexico.

As I noted previously, at first this administration denied that it was policy to arm border patrol agents with bean bags to fight AK’s.

That turned out to be false.

Now Barack Obama claims that neither he nor Eric Holder authorized the operation and was quick to make sure he was free of responsibility.

Under fire for an operation that allowed smuggling of U.S. weapons across the nation’s border with Mexico, President Obama said in an interview that neither he nor Attorney General Eric Holder authorized the controversial “Operation Fast and Furious.”

This is the same Obama who called John McCain “naive and irresponsible.”

“If they want a debate about protecting the United States of America, that’s a debate I’m ready to win because George Bush and John McCain have a lot to answer for.” He blamed Bush for policies that enhance the strength of terrorist groups such as Hamas and “the fact that al-Qaida’s leadership is stronger than ever because we took our eye off the ball in Afghanistan.”

Obama is always quick to point out the failings of others yet is lightning fast to duck responsibility.

But Eric Holder did know about it.

US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano denied having previous knowledge of the operations, while Attorney General Eric Holder admitted to knowing of the ATF’s gun-tracking tactics, but called cross-border gun-trafficking “not acceptable”.

It’s “not acceptable” but apparently he did not put an end to it. If such an operation was “not acceptable” why did Holder not find out who authorized it and do so immediately?

None of these denials seem plausible. And here is the million dollar question:

Who can authorize sending more than 2,000 assault rifles to Mexico?

Americans deserve an answer to that question. We also deserve to know when Holder learned of this operation and what he did about it. We deserve to know if and when he told Obama and how Obama responded.

Since these assault rifles have been sent to Mexico, more than 30,000 people have lost their lives in the drug cartel violence. One cannot help but wonder how many have died from wounds inflicted by these weapons. Brian Terry was murdered with one of these weapons and Jaime Zapata also may have been killed with one. The blood of these victims is on the hands of Obama, Holder and Napolitano.

Meanwhile, Holder is occupied with such endeavors as dumbing down police forces and Napolitano is assuring us that the border is safer than ever. It sure is safe for sending assault rifles into Mexico.

This is both a disaster and a disgrace. We need to know what Obama knew and when he knew it.

This is preposterous and criminal…who in the congress is going to have the courage to demand napolitano and holder’s resignations?

    I guess I don’t understand.
Was this gun running all done before Obama took office?

Federal agent John Dodson says he was ordered (in 2010) to sit by and watch gun running into Mexico happen.

There are video tapes of them reporting on the violence they were causing.
They kept records of all the deaths.

I know Obama sides with his Chicago gangs/thugs, but killing off the Mexicans through gun and drug gang violence is not the way to cut out the competition.

Back in 2009, I believe, this administration was whining about how we had to drastically cut down on sales of firearms in this country, because our guns were finding their way into Mexico and then being used to kill our own people. The motivation, therefore, was to use that as justification for controlling gun ownership by US citizens. But you can rest assured that Obama’s civilian security forces will have no such restraints placed on them. Stop focusing on the red herring of who knew what when, and go after the big story. Young people are being recruited now, Black Panthers are recruiting and training teens now. There’s a big story there that needs to be exposed, that will dwarf these piddling little things. They want you to concentrate on the stupid stuff!

Where does the 20,000 rifles figure come from? I know one operation was responsible for about 2500 guns but where are the references for all the rest? I didn’t see them in any of the links in the story. I saw references to a few more guns but nothing near anything like 20,000. Who has the latest accurate figures for how many guns the ATF has allowed to cross the border in this way?

The murder of a border patrol agent with a weapon we allowed to walk into Mexico is not small stuff to me, not that there aren’t other big stories.

Forgive me, I didn’t mean to say that this story is insignificant when American lives are being taken. But it’s the cynicism of these Macchiavellian operators in and around this White House, that occupies us with asking who’s responsible for the scandalous behavior, while they are inching closer to their real goal of disarming us and imposing their private army on us.

Treachery and treason. Tracking multiple shipments AK-47′s that wind up in the hands of (surprise) Mexican drug cartels, resulting in lead poisoning our own U.S. border patrol; With the excuse: “Just to see where they go.” But, when it comes to the repatriation of historic Springfield et al. 30-06 M1 Garand carbine rifles (lend/lease era): That might end up in the display cases of freedom-loving Americans, the racks of collectors; The decisions is: Destroy them!

The excuse must be the usual: “It’s for the Children.”

@Bernie McMatin: How come a guy can’t criticize somebody without race being brought up?..

That’s all these people care about, their is no such thing as character or values anymore. That’s all these people see is skin color. We try to show equality by criticizing people of different colors the same as we criticize people of our own but its not good enough. According to there logic; the darker your skin is the less you should be held accountable to high standards because darker people are better than lighter people… I think that’s racism but what do I know.

This story is awful and the more that comes out the worse it looks for Obama.
I know the Obama Admin’s idea was to say ”we are transparent,” then pull secretive stuff like this, but it is so over the top!
Someone’s head certainly must roll over this.

I don’t know if anything in this story is ”new” or not, but it is alarming.

“….the scale of the purchases was massive, and the agents on the ground kept anxiously waiting for the order to stop monitoring and intervene, according to stunning accounts from ATF agents and documentation uncovered by CBS News…” the National Review.

”….According to the dozen ATF agents who have come forward as whistleblowers, the concept was not the half-baked idea of a rogue manager. Reported CBS:

ATF Agent John Dodson and other sources say the gun walking strategy was approved all the way up to the Justice Department…. ”

”….Obama said that neither he nor Attorney General Eric Holder approved the operation. But who within the Justice Department did…?”

”…..DOJ sent a confidential memo to U.S. Attorneys in southwestern border states, declaring,

“We should not design or conduct undercover operations which include guns crossing the border. If we have knowledge that guns are about to cross the border, we must take immediate action to stop the firearms from crossing the border, even if that prematurely terminates or otherwise jeopardizes an investigation.”

”So, the DOJ appears to have initially lied about the circumstances, and it is now insisting the men at the top didn’t know what was going on. The Department of Justice at first referred the allegations to its own inspector general, an unusual choice in that the whistleblowers claim they already contacted the IG and never had their phone calls returned…..”

”…..when President Obama has mentioned the word “guns,” it has usually been in appearances with the Mexican president, talking about the need for “an enforcement strategy that slows the flow of guns into Mexico.

With the president himself talking about the need to stop guns from crossing the border, why would the ATF allow just that to happen? …”

You can track this right back to the Greta and Hillary show where they tried to make the case that USA guns and Second Amendment were to blame. Remember the table of guns they were presenting? When people rightfully said, you cannot buy these guns in the USA, something had to be done.

Now we know what that something was.

Is all about Obama’s gun regulations … And how many Mexicans and US citizens had to die for the show?

Remember the ATF ran a similar scam on the Branch Davidians.

Go to the blog “Sipsey Street Irregulars” for ALL of the Project Gunwalker story. It is extraordinary. And the real reason for the ATF’s “walking” of guns into Mexico…to provide reasons for the necessity of tougher anti-gun legislation in the US!!

This administration in conjunction with the ATF wanted to allow and document guns going into Mexico. They would then use this selective data to conclude “the majority” of guns being used by the cartels are coming from America (when actually this is very untrue) and now we can use this “doctored data” as our basis for gun control laws in the USA. What a great “dishonest” plan!!!!!!!!!

Simple! It’s a DODGE!! When you can’t explain away the real situation without losing the argument, you use the “bait and switch” to CHANGE the discussion! Watch Democrats on the TV interview shows, You ask em a SIMPLE “Yes or No” questions.. and they go off topic on a long winded diatribe, so as to NOT tell you what you want to know! Truth?? They HIDE it! Not saying a Republican has never done such, but with the Dems, it’s like part of their DNA or something! Just WATCH em, and you’ll see!
So, in essence, it’s DECEPTION on their part!! That’s how I see it.

Now as to THIS topic, the Gov runs lots of “shady ops”.. BOTH sides have at one time or another. BUT, to attack the rights of honest citizens having guns, while you run an op like THIS one, in an attempt to use the info gained, in an effort to SCREW the “Honest Citizens” out of the Constitutional RIGHTS is beyond belief, OR Acceptability! Borders on Treason as well, IMHO…….. and the fact, it led to the DEATH of one of OUR LEO’s?? SOMEONE needs to HANG for it. Someone HIGH UP… Me? I Think HOLDER needs to bite the Bullet here! Captain of his ship, is responsible for the action of those aboard…and Holder is the Skipper here!

  29. Why don’t we all copy this post and paste it into an email to our congressional representatives?

We can be sure they’ll get it in their personal office inbox (as opposed to a dump mail file where it goes when you send it through their government website) if we send it through Grade Gov.

In fact, let’s send it to all members of Congress — we can do that too at Gradegov.com — as opposed to being limited to only our reps (via zip code restriction) and no other.

It’s one thing to write about it on a blog (I do the same thing at my site). But it’s quite another to send it to the people we elected to serve the people…

So tell me lefties, considering that agents of the U.S. government were sending arms to narco/terrorists in Mexico they should be allowed to attack us, right?

As someone who lives near Carter’s Country, one of the primary sites where these “stings” were to have been taking place, and knowing a couple of the people who work there, I can say that they have been blindsided and hung out to dry by the ATF and Homeland Security, who were supposed to be working hand in hand with this store.
Carter’s Country was assured that all sales to straw buyers were being tracked, and now it looks like HS and ATF just dropped the ball (if theey truly ever had it), and are now blaming the store.
This is beginning to look intentional on the part of our dear old lyin’ government.
