Obama – We Need “To Live Within Our Means”…As He Spends Like A Drunken Sailor

Loading

The gall of this man:

After he signed the short-term bill yesterday, President Obama said in a statement, ā€œIā€™m calling on Democratic and Republican leaders of Congress to begin meeting immediately with the Vice President, my Chief of Staff, and Budget Director so we can find common ground on a budget that makes sure we are living within our means.ā€

Saying that this country must live within its means is an audacious statement coming from a president who championed an $814 billion failed stimulus bill, all of which was paid for with deficit spending. Itā€™s audacious coming from an administration that is leading the country into another consecutive year with a deficit over a trillion dollars. And itā€™s audacious coming from a White House that proposed a budget for the following fiscal year that grows the debt to $20 trillion in five years and never once in a decade spends less than itā€™s taking in.

Yeaaaah:

And he’s not done there….he wants a 62% increase in spending for Transportation.

62%!

Let’s see, that’s about $93 BILLION/year in new spending over that time. Yet when Republicans proposed cutting a bit more than that across the whole federal government it’s draconian. But spending another half billion dollars we don’t have? Why that’s how things are done, it’s for the unions after all.

Oh, that’s right….its not spending it’s “investing”

And to cap it all off I give you Nancy Pelosi saying….pretty much nothing:

Reporters ask if Democrats have a number in mind thatā€™s ā€œhalf wayā€ for cuts. Pelosi canā€™t answer the question. She also claims that Democrats have already cut $41 billion, but when pressed what they passed was $41 billion in cuts from Obamaā€™s proposed spending in a budget that never actually passed.

Puhlease….cut 41 billion.

Curt I love your work but I do have a minor criticism. As a retired AF guy who worked with the U.S. Navy I have always had trouble with the phrase “spend like a drunken sailor.” My term of choice has always been “spend like a drunken Kennedy.”

This is demeaning to the drunken sailors, even they quit spending when they are broke. I’ll bet the sailors are calling him a racist.

Drunken sailors defend the country, which is more than we can say about the Obama administration.

ABC News adds:

Democrats are calling on Republicans to back off their commitment to cut $100 billion……….
and………
After adding in the $4 billion of cuts from the two-week continuing resolution youā€™re nearly already there , according to senior Democratic leadership aides.

But from the perspective of Congressional Republicans, Democrats are simply maintaining the status quo from before the November election and are not serious about tackling the federal deficit.

Oh, my!
That’s all?????
I think two can play this game.
I just hope we get some sound bites out of it to use to keep Obama as a 1 term present-dent.

Anyone else notice that this narcissistic gimp keeps repeating the mantra, “I’ve asked my . . . to meet . . . .” or “I’ve asked so and so to meet with . . . “ or “I’ve instructed my . . . “ or “I’ve ordered my . . . . to . . . “ and it never leads to serious decisions, or to anything constructive for the Nation.

Mr. Dithers is good at floating committees to deal with everything by kicking the Nation’s business and its concerns down the road. The one thing he seems to be personally good at is fuelling the fires of racism. There’s not a single person in this Administration with a backbone or with knowledge about anything beyond socialist or divisive talking points.

And while I’m at it, is it me, or does he lie each and every time he approaches the podium, . . . which is, daily?

@James Raider:

Obama gives new meaning to lots of things.
Didn’t know he was so ”hands’ off” as to have not bothered to meet with many members of his own Cabinet even once in a one-on-one meet in over 2 years!
What is he so busy doing that he can’t do his JOB???
MSNBCā€™s Andrea Mitchell seemed exasperated in her reciting ā€œthere were a half a dozen cabinet members whoā€™d not heard from the president personally; had not gotten a phone call from the president or had an opportunity to be one on one with him in the first two years.ā€

Wait, I know what he does with his days…..
He parties.
He vacations.
He picks his teams.
He sticks his nose where it doesn’t belong (the police acted stupidly).
He cripples our economy.
He bows and scrapes to foreigners.
He lavishes our money on his friends.

Nan, you know, I took a second read of your list, and other than BOLDING all the items, I would NOT change a thing, . . . . you have him well in sight. šŸ™‚

@Nan G: @James Raider:

There is one thing I would add to the list.

He Golfs!

Does the daily half hour genuflection over a White House sink doing the Grecian Formula ritual fall under the “bows and scrapes” heading . . . . ?

Hmmmm, . . . . I think I’m finding this guy just too annoying, . . . and it’s showing.

I really liked this story:

President Obama assumed responsibility for avoiding a government shutdown Wednesday, ordering the White House to find a deal with Republicans on spending despite the growing backlash from the left over cuts to cherished programs.

Obama accepted responsibility AFTER it had already been done. Before it had been done it was

“Mr. Obama?”

“Present!”

It really ought to be “Presentdent Obama”

@Nan G: Golly, Nan, you are so unreasonable! How do you expect him to play 60 rounds of gold AND meet with all those pesky cabinet members?

@drjohn:

If only we, as a country, could have Obama and his admin vote “present” for the rest of his term. We may have a chance then to make much progress in the right direction, but at least the damage would be minimized.

When Obama says that weĀ must live within our means, he means that “We the people” must survive on what is left after he and his friends get what they want.

Identity Theft: An American hating, adolescent socialist has stole identity of “President” and is maxing out the nation’s credit cards, nothing more, nothing less.

Drunk sailors only spend their own money.
Obama spends money more like a crack whore with a stolen credit card.

Elections have consequences. Weren’t those Obama’s own words? In the world of the hard left, elections only have consequences if the results favor them. If not, it’s time for the lies and obstructions to be put in place to thwart the electorate’s wants

GEEZ y’all I will have to collect a fee for each one of you, because I’v been non stop clicking the like and
nobody work so hard for nothing,
beside those SAILERS can get drunk IT’s okay they deserve it,
do we know what they are drinking,?

Chip Reid of CBS News picks apart Obama’s so-called budget cuts.
Seems Obama wants to take credit for ”saving” $280 million off of the ARC tunnel project.
Only one little, bitty problem with that.
Obama didn’t cut that tunnel.
Chris Christie did!

A few other gems discovered by Chip Reid:

1) Most of Obama’s listed ”savings” or “new” cuts are essentially “earmarks” — specially-targeted spending that Obama had already vowed to eliminate!

2) Other new cuts were already in Obama’s proposed budgets for 2011 and/or 2012.
Gee, he cuts what he had already planned to cut AS IF it is new!

Here are the things from both of those types of “new proposed cuts” that equal $6.5 billion:
* Milk purchases (-$60 m)
* DELAP (dairy) (-$290 m)
* Agricultural Research (-$71 m)
* USDA Single Family Housing Guarantees (-$173 m)
* USDA Farm Loans (-$26 m)
* Watershed Programs (-$50 m)
* Public Telecommunications and Facilities Program (-$20 m)
* EPA Homeland Security Activities (-$36 m)
* Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (-$125 m)
* Wildland Fire Suppression Program (-$250 m)
* HUD University Community Fund (-$25 m)
* EPA State Revolving Funds (-$950 m)
* EPA State and Tribal Grants – Watershed, Airshed, and Climate Change (-$187 m)
* Biomass Crop Assistance Program (-$100 m)
* National Park Service, excluding LWCF (-$105 m)
* Career Pathways (-$125 m)
* SCSEP (-275 m)
* FEMA State and Local Grants (-$425 m)
* FBI Construction (-$133 m)
* Rural Development S&E (-$20 m)
* HUD Energy Innovation Fund (-$50 m)
* Treasury Asset Forfeiture Funds (-$333)
* Animal and Plant Health Programs (APHIS) (-$27 m)
* HHS Community Economic Development (-$16 m)
* HHS Mentoring Children of Prisoners (-$24 m)
* Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund (-$276 m)

1. I believe it is “We can live within our means” not ā€œWe Need To Live Within Our Means”
2. The massive spending (stimulus) was meant to stop the depression. Thanks to the stimulus, unemployment is down and walstreet is doing much better.
3. The presidency is a Job. I don’t see anything wrong with him playing golf or spending time with his family.
4. Most of the comments on this site are biased.
5. On second thought, I guess everyone needs an outlet to vent

BLUE,, hi, we cannot live within our means, but we have to live under our absence of means,
DID you get a stimilus that entitle you to live well over your means,
and what is the meaning of your word “BEASED
bye

@ilovebeeswarzone: Hi….By biased I meant one sided. You have a good reason to be worried. If America keeps spending at the current rate, she will become backrupt. However, slamming on the breaks is not the answer. I think we need to ease up on the pedal, and slowly push down on the breaks.

As citizens we owe it to ourselves to seperate politics from real acomplishments or failures. Politics is a game that both Replublicans and Democrats play. it is dirty. And both sides play to win.

BLUE, YES, you say it better than me, I just find it normal to take care of our side,
when things go wrong we gather among our own, to fight the DEVIL,
and we need all of our own to participate,in the quest to remove the wrong and return to AMERICA
THE WAY SHE WANT TO BE, WHICH IS A SHINING STAR FOR THE DEPRESS WORLD TO KEEP HOPING
FOR BETTER DAYS TO COME,
BYE

I agree in part. Growing up in, Appalachia was very poor. The poorest people are normally invisible. If we are to bring our country out of poverty, we need to start at the bottom and build a solid foundation.
If there were any redeaming factors to living in my home town; it must have been the teachers, they gave us a good education. They were poor as well. Teachers unions were unheard of. But most teachers only spent a few years there, to write their theises’s before getting better jobs, teaching at universities. Our teachers came to witness breath taking mountain views.
When I moved to the city, people shunned me. I could not find work. Most of the jobs that I got were menial. Some people told me that I was taking their jobs away — however, I was hungry. Most jobs I got, I did not like.
If not for the kind hands that reached out to me, I would have nothing. Sometimes we must be grateful — but, do we want our children to continue our sufferage?
We need to start looking to help people who need encouragement. If we are truly stewards of our earth, we must have tollerance and humanity.
Obama is saying all the right stuff. His involvement with what is going on under the counter might be shakey. How we can sink billions into a cesspool is about as curious as the tunnels beneath Washington. But, you must remember that we had troubles before Jr came to Washington.
I believe that it is the job of our government to walk among the people.

Johny Appalachia,
hi,, yes SR, ABSOLUTLY RIGHT,
HE speak big nice words to be reelected, but no substance there,
otherwise he would start to teach by doing himself the restraint of living within our mean,,
good for the people, but he spend your money abroad while the people restrain themselves by being force to it by his policies
