I constantly write about the evils of government unbound. Most of that time those comments are directed at a federal government that has ventured far beyond the constraints imposed by the 10th Amendment.
Although the federal government’s excess is often the easiest to see, Uncle Sam is far from the only offender in terms of governments growing too large and too powerful. On the contrary, state and local governments can be (and often are) equally guilty. Local governments use various devices such as zoning ordinances, arbitrary fees and various inspection regimes to impose their power the citizenry. One of the most dubious of those devices is called “certification”. Continue reading
Obama’s move away from an important ally is now almost complete:
“The U.S. has informed Arab governments that it will support a U.N. Security Council statement reaffirming that the 15-nation body “does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity,” a move aimed at avoiding the prospect of having to veto a stronger Palestinian resolution calling the settlements illegal.” Continue reading
Chris Matthews: “You know, gentlemen, I’m a little bit jubilant right now, a little bit frisky so I’ll say something that will bother people…In a way it’s like it took Obama to have this [the revolution in Egypt] happen, or it’s just so serendipitous.”

In 2009 Obama promised to halve the deficit by FY 2013. As Jim Geraghty said…….oh heck, I am tired of quoting that. Barack Obama has ballooned both deficits and the national debt. At the rate he’s going he will double the national debt to 26 trillion in ten years.
“In 2021, the national debt will have risen to $26.3 trillion, increasing by $1 trillion every year until 2021. Obama’s budget does not contain any plans for balancing the federal budget or reducing the national debt.” Continue reading
I do think that the President regards making touchy-feely speeches as a substitute for having a strategy, and I want to emphasize the risks that are currently being run in that region. If you look at history – and remember, I’m a historian – most revolutions do not lead to happy-clappy democracies, but to periods of internal turmoil, often to periods of terror, and they also lead to external aggression because the simplest way to mobilize people in a relatively poor and not very well-educated country like Egypt is to point to the alleged enemy within and then, of course, the enemy abroad. I don’t think things are playing out like Obama and company had planned:
“…the news of the day is none other than Ayman Nour telling a Lebanese TV station that it’s time to revisit the treaty with Israel. Nour isn’t some random talking head; he’s been in and out of prison for years for daring to demand liberal reforms from Mubarak’s regime, and actually went so far as to run against Mubarak for president in the rigged election of 2005. Not only is he a cause celebre in the west, he’s sufficiently prominent that Bush name-checked him in his speech on democracy in Prague back in 2007.” Continue reading

Whoa boy….the below video is of a local San Diego channel and their interview with the Port Director, Al Hallor, about WMD’s coming through the port. It’s painfully obvious the man doesn’t want to lie, nor does he want to be fired, so he is trying his best to dance around the answer. He, along with that public affairs officer made sure the words were chosen carefully…specifically denying that “nuclear weapons” had come through the San Diego port but when the reporter changed it to a dirty bomb in all of San Diego things got interesting Continue reading
