The Forsaken Of Iran, The Ugly American Protects His Unions

President Obama and the DNC are supporting unrest against legal legislative processes in Wisconsin and plan other such moves in more states that are planning to legislate financial responsibility, while ignoring the plight of demonstrators for Democracy against an Islamic Regime in Iran and the Tenth Amendment and after encouraging the overthrow of one of our most important allies in the Middle East.

There is an ugliness to this behavior that can no longer be ignored. States have sovereignty, under the Tenth Amendment that is being attacked by President Obama and his henchmen within the Democratic National Committee, the message is clear: we will attack any other states with our thugs if you try to mess with our unions or legislate financial responsibility.

The line in the sand is being drawn with the sword hand of Obama, the same one that favors Fundamentalist Islamic Regimes and unions. His, “Get in their face” strategy will hopefully not devolve into his “bring a gun” instructions, but undeniably his thug mentality projection to supporters has taken root. In this case it is designed to derail a legitimate legislative process of the state of Wisconsin that is trying desperately to stay solvent without laying off thousands of those same workers who are demonstrating.

On February 14, Democrat state legislature members left the state and went into hiding to prevent the state legislature from conducting official state business. Since a certain number of lawmakers must be present to vote, the Democrats couldn’t affect the outcome, so they prevented the vote by disappearing.

President Obama’s WI state director for his campaign apparatus, Dan Grandone, cried out in a dramatic emotional appeal by accusing Governor Scott Walker of “ignoring Wisconsin voices today and asking for the power to drown them out permanently tomorrow”. Of course Grandone is referring to the union voices and not those of the public, since the Democrats were defeated in both the state Assembly and Senate and gave Governor Walker a victory by six points, the same margin that Democrats declared as a landslide in the election of Obama.

The protesters are carrying placards that compare Governor Walker to Hitler, Mussolini, and Mubarak while at least one placard showed Governor Walker’s face in the cross hairs of a rifle scope, making a mockery of the Democrats and their denouncement of “Hate filled rhetoric”.

The irony of the situation is that the unions have created a class of entitlement, a sub group of elitists whose duty it is to march and raise Hell when their position or that of their leaders, President Obama and the Democrat National Committee is threatened. Thus Obama has his army of civilian storm troopers to do his bidding, the unions and their unwavering support of their leader. These civilian storm troopers, some of whom earn over $100,000 a year in salary and benefits consider themselves above the law and normal professional conduct. Many lied by calling in sick to shut down the schools and had the audacity to march their students to the protests without parental permission. Assumed immunity from prosecution seems to also be a benefit of being part of the entitlement groups of Obama; unfortunately, this works against the rule of law and the fabric of American Society; again, the great uniter is fueling class warfare within the country and encouraging citizens to break state laws and follow the wishes of our great teleprompter reader.

The public spoke in November, they spoke to end the entitlement of unions in state government and the endemic fraud, abuse, waste, as well as the profligacy and financial irresponsibility that have become the standards for the Democrat Party. While America is bleeding, Obama holds out the poisoned apple of becoming a follower of his and joining in the ranks of the entitled and have the rest of America support you in the lifestyle of a Useful Idiot.

The drastic demands that are being legislated: public sector employees are expected to contribute half of their pension fund costs, 12% of their health care costs, and to lose collective bargaining rights over everything but pay. The public realizes that while 10% of the homes in North America are vacant because of foreclosure and many more are on the verge and Americans are making adjustments to just stay afloat economically, these public sector employees are living as if there was still a boom going on, thus they appear to be selfish and unreasonable in much the same light as our president, with his extravagant lifestyle, who is being seen more and more as the Ugly American who is conducting the presidency as if it were a corrupt union office rather than a formidable world power.

While our Ugly American President has backed similar demonstrations in Ohio and Indiana against the legal Democratic processes of our sovereign states, he ignores a call for democracy in Iran in favor of a repressive but fundamentalist Muslim extremist government. Perhaps the students who are being hanged, shot, and tortured should declare themselves as trade unionists and create a moral dilemma for the Ugly American.

I ran across a post after a Larry Kudlow essay on NRO.
Larry made a nice distinction between the interests of government unions and the private unions.

Then Chris Riley took this a step further that I do not recall seeing anywhere before.

Chris made the distinction between Labor Unions and Leisure Unions.

To Chris, Labor Unions are in an adversarial position with the management of the capital, who serve at the pleasure of the owners of that capital.
But Leisure Unions (like SEIU,NEA, AFSCME) collude with “rather than bargaining against management, which in this case are elected politicians.”

Thus the real “power of a LEISURE union comes not from the threat of a strike, but from the ability of a LEISURE union to deliver political victory (or defeat) at the polls to the politicians they are colluding with.”

LEISURE Union leaders try to maximize the number of public employees along with the number of public pension recipients.
They therefore, push to minimize the work done for a given amount of pay in contrast to LABOR unions which try to maximize pay for a given amount of work. (Smaller class sizes, earlier retirement, etc.)

Finally, the more people on the dole, the more unionized government workers are needed to administer the dole, and secondly the recipients of the dole do not vote like taxpayers do, in fact they automatically vote exactly the way LEISURE Union leaders would want them to.

Many in my family were or are teachers. My three sisters, my mother, my great aunts and others further back in our family. They considered teaching a profession and themselves professionals. Along with a profession comes a canon of ethics that includes aspects of professional behavior. They all believed teachers were role models for their students as well as role models in the community. When a student failed in his class work, they took responsibility and took special interest in helping that student succeed.

The teachers in my family would consider it unprofessional to march in the streets with signs that degraded elected officials tasked with balancing the state’s fiscal obligations. My mother started teaching in 1962 for $3600/ year. She usually spent hours after school working with kids. I recently went back to PA. A lady who had been in my high school class met me at the local eatery. After a few words of greeting, she told me that she never got to college like my mother urged her. She did make sure that both her daughters did go to college. I had not seen Sally for 30 years. The first thing she wanted to tell me was about the success of her daughters as a result of my mother’s advise given nearly 40 years ago. Teachers who act professional are professional and really are dedicated to their profession. We want professionals teaching our young men and women.

How many of the teachers in Madison will have the respect of their students or the community after this demonstration is over? How will can they be trusted to teach? @ Randy, Excellent piece by that Career Teacher on her experience. My Grandmother was a teacher and a rather strict task master in regards to insisting that I read a wide spectrum of books and this Quote from one of Our Founding Fathers comes to mind.

My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”

The issue is about professionalism. Few act like a professional in their chosen occupation. Professionals had pride in their capabilities. Skook has it right with this post.

A few days ago, I was asked why I acted the way I did while I was in Iraq. Many of the things I did really were not totally successful. I was asked why I would start to do something and put so much of myself into it when there was a high chance of failure. My answer was If there was any chance, I had to do it. A professional must always try to do the right thing no matter the difficulty. I think we have lost much of the pride people once had in their profession.

@ Randy, The Professionalism makes all the difference in the results. I deeply admire Folks that apply everything they know, with enthusiasm to the tasking that they have. Skookum pretty much nailed it and his comments are warranted regarding the approach to the Wisconsin Budget Reconciliation and the incessant Meddling on the part of Elected Officials and Union types from Out of State. In no possible way should any Office or Agency outside of the State be involved in the Wisconsin Business. By Law.

The Efforts in Iraq were trial/error/trial/error for most of Us. Reconstruction Teams in any Area of endeavor were challenged by Factors that most of Us had never encountered in our lives. Religious, Tribal, Customs, History of the Region, Governing/Ruling Issues, a Class System and other related issues were obstacles as You well know. Our PRT and Civil Affairs Teams in the Stans were challenged as well. Then throw in the Graft/Corruption/Bribe system and Contractors that were less than Cooperative, less than Skilled and less than diligent and the Mix was a very frustrating series of Taskings. Throw in Greed and Hate and anything that was possible became difficult. The Region was behind the times at a ratio of 100 years to several Centuries in some respects.

We did the Best we could in Iraq and the Stans purely out of Professionalism both before and after Invasion, the predictable Resurgency/Insurgency that I *knew* was coming due to the flags on events that I saw and the US State Department and Pentagon types missed. There is a certain arrogance that comes with Position/Rank/Incumbency that is perhaps relevant to the Events in Wisconsin.

When the Status Quo changes, the Economy, changes in expectations and spending must occur to maintain basic services and solvency of the State. The Governor is tasked by Law to make those changes as is the Elected Legislature. Outside interference is prohibited by Laws.

The Current Post Modern posture on things is not reminiscent of the Good Old American Pioneer Spirit that built this Republic. It is more a reminder of how Republics became decadent and complacent in the Past that No One learned from. Those Republics now reside in the dust bin of History.

A Professional seeks a solution under the Laws both of Man and Nature. We have become lazy, We have become less than effective at Governing, Problem Solving or Pulling together and making sacrifices necessary in tough times. The bad part is that we have too few Professionals and Statesmen to draw from.
We do have Folks that fall short on those attributes, Posers, Pretenders and Predators. Opportunists that see a window of opportunity but not the opportunity to step up and do the right things.

Bottom line for me, on one Hand We have a Governor with a Legal Responsibility to maintain the Fiscal Solvency of His State under the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin and sign off on a balanced budget.

On the other hand We have Union Bosses and a President trying to undermine a Legal Obligation of that Governor to Govern.

Whats at stake?
*For Governor, Loss of Solvency for His State, Credit Rating and Legitimate Authority.
*President and Union Bosses, loss of Power( not legitimate), Prestige (Dubious at Best), Reputation and Integrity for Interfering in the Wisconsin Budget Reconciliation Legislative Process.

OK then, Let the cowpie slinging begin but throw long, I’m on the other side of the Pond. The Atlantic Pond. as You know I’m not Politically Correct but can be somewhat Diplomatic if You don’t try to BS me.

Now we all know why the “young” people are being constantly mentioned by the COIC (Community Organizer in Chief). The union teachers are perpetuating his cause on a daily basis. There are many, many wonderful teachers but it is so sad that they are left helpless by the unionbots. If the unions thugs get by with this in Wisconsin, then America has lost yet another battle on the way to the Third World hell we are bound to become under the administration’s master plan.

That pretty much in one statement sums it up. Great article and pretty much illustrative of the Union Argument expressed succinctly. This is due to become viral as States and Municipalities become more aware of their Obligations INRE Pensions, Health Benefits and Agreements. How THIS one in Wisconsin turns out will be the determiner of how the rest of the States and Cities will fare.

My entire family (on both sides) live in Wisconsin. Several are teachers, and members of government unions. (I was born in Milwaukee.)

We’re talking HUNDREDS of people, covering 4 generations, most of them Kennedy-style Democrats.

This is leading to a big backlash, and the majority of population is appalled and ashamed at their fellow citisens, and the democrap politicians.

Is this enough to give the rest of the states the blinding glimpse of the obvious? I see the unions as the brown shirts of obama forcing others to do his bidding. I haven’t heard or read anything where barack has mentioned the democratic legislators striking or telling them to ‘come home’. Striking is illegal for federal employees (and yes they are federal employees) and they should be fired. The teachers should be fired too for lying about being sick. I wonder how many will have doctor’s notes for their time off. The governor has to be strong like Reagan and fire all the teachers because I believe there are many unemployed teachers chomping at the bit to get a job. I haven’t been able to see where this will go. I just hope and pray the governor of Wisconsin stays strong.

Every State receives Federal Funds for a variety of things. Lets see if Federal Agencies come down hard on Wisconsin. The withholding of Fed Cash can be leverage. Cash strapped States could expect intervention/intrusion in the event that the Feds wish to use that tool. I expect the Meddling to go that route and the Obama DOJ to be on attack for almost any offense, real or imagined like what has occurred in Arizona to Gov. Brewer.

When The federal government unlawfully steals power not enumerated to it from states our republic degenerates into a dictatorship. Is that not what separates the US from other country’s?

If the federal Gov keeps making illegal power grabs of state and personal sovereignty, I think they may figure out why you should not take freedom away from an ugly american. I lived in the US long enough to understand that one.

It will be the Individual States that must stand their ground. The Federal Government has become involved in business that the 10th Amendment Reserved for the States as Their Rights. The meddling must be refused by States as with the Court Rulings on Oil Drilling and Obama Care. The States must be firm or be trampled.

This is just one of the next issues to be resolved.

If there are any democrats left in a few years, they will be the ones who want to change the USA into some kind of dictatorship. Wisconsin is yet another epidsode in the third civil war that is being fought for America,the second being for equal rights, this third civil war has been going on since the election of Barack Hussein Obama.

At the end of the day, they’re not fighting for your pension or health care plan or even for the sustainability of Wisconsin’s education budget. Accepting those funds allowed states to grow government, increase already unsustainable levels of spending, kick the can down the road on reforming entitlements, and create public expectations that they would continue financing these new mandates once the federal funds ran out. States were not in a position to grow government and take on new financial commitments then, and now the chickens have come home to roost. As goes Wisconsin today, so goes the country tomorrow.

I continue to be impressed with Palin’s ability to cut through the BS and get to the heart of the matter.

Skookum– I question your use of the term “American” – even if modified by the adjective “Ugly” – in reference to the current occupant of the White House. I’m not talking about his ancestry here, but his philosophy. America was a country founded upon the idea that individuals have natural rights which neither their government nor their neighbors can take away. They also believe (or used to believe) that only proper function of government is to protect those rights, as so eloquently described in our Declaration of Independence.

Last night one Senator told me they had been told to clear the Capitol because the new groups coming in overnight are filled with with people “who aren’t afraid to be arrested” and the Administration could not guarantee the safety of the legislators and their staffs. In our Capitol.

On Thursday, legislators were advised to return to their offices and lock their doors. Mobs roamed the halls, banging on the glass of the doors, pounding on the walls. No one could move in the halls or enter or leave the building. The glass of the Supreme Court’s entrance was broken. Legislators were genuinely afraid. Our elected representatives were afraid. In our Capitol.

A young female reporter trying to get into the Senate chamber struggled to get through the crowd. She arrived disheveled and upset because she had been roughed up as she tried to get through “Bitch-slapped” the mob told her. A senior senator was spat on. A senator and his female staffer struggled to get into the capitol. He was worried about his staffer because the crowd was grabbing at her and pushing her. University Police were two arms lengths away and did nothing. They, of course, are union.

Can you imagine the wall-to-wall media coverage if Tea Partiers were acting so disrespectfully?

The Governor stands firm. I understand that there are strategies in place for next steps which will shake up the stalemate….I have known him for at least 15 years, but he is different now. He is a man who has met his time and his place, and he seems to know it.
