Obama: The rights of Muslim suicide bombers come before the rights of US citizens [Reader Post]

New TSA Screening Procedures

The stories are now legion:

A cancer survivor forced to remove her prosthetic breast.

A man with a urostomy bad left covered in urine.

A 12 year old girl forced to submit to being naked in a scanner.

A rough search into her crotch leaves a woman in tears.

Pants pulled down because of artificial knees, nipple rings removed, TSA agents screaming “I have power!”

I have had enough. Barack Obama should be impeached and removed from office.

He appointed the most inept and ignorant Attorney General in the history of this country. Both Holder and Obama have nothing but contempt for the Constitution.

Barack Obama appointed the single most stupid person in the United States to be head of Homeland Security. Obama is determined to punish the citizens of the United States in order to preserve the rights of Muslim suicide bombers. He is determined to humiliate all of us in order to protect them.

If a vehicle is involved in the commission of a crime, police don’t stop ALL vehicles and search them.

If a suspect in a crime is described as a white male aged 25-30, police do not stop elderly black women and detain them.

It’s called profiling.

Banks profile. Insurance companies profile. It’s been a part of life for a long time. It would be single most effective method at discovering would-be suicide bombers. And it is the one thing this damned idiotic administration won’t do. It has served El Al, the Israeli airline, extremely well. In an interview Isaac Yeffet, the former head of security for El Al had this to say:

“Stop relying only on technology,” Yeffet told CNN. “Technology can help the qualified, well-trained human being but cannot replace him.”

About Richard Reid he said

In 2002, we had Richard Reid, the shoe bomber. This man gave the security people all the suspicious signs that any passenger could show. The man got a British passport in Belgium, not in England. Number Two: he flew to Paris, he bought a one-way ticket from Paris to Florida. He paid cash. He came to the airport with no luggage. What else do I need to know that this passenger is suspicious?

About Umar Abdulmutallab:

Now we face the story with [Umar Farouk] AbdulMutallab. We had all the information that we could dream the security people could get. He was on the list of people connected to al Qaeda. I don’t need more to understand that when he comes, I am not looking for more evidence. He is suspicious; I have to take care of him.

Abdulmutallab was banned from entering Britain but not from entering the US, despite a warning from his father.

The Director General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Dr Harold Demuren said that Abdulmutallab purchased his ticket without a telephone number or a fixed contact address. Abdulmutallab’s trip was to last from December 25, 2008 to January 9, 2009 and he had no checked lugagge- only a small carry-on bag.

It doesn’t take a genius to see the red flags here. The problem is that we have no geniuses at TSA, or anywhere else in this administration.

Barack Obama is not about to discriminate against Islamic suicide bombers.

The administration’s reliance on technology is not comforting either.

“The scanner caught a subject’s cell phone and Swiss Army knife — and the microphone he was wearing — but missed all the components to make a bomb that he hid on his body… Full-body scanners: they’re not just a dumb idea, they don’t actually work.”

And

You know those airport scanners that render you essentially naked? The ones that don’t catch bomb-making materials? The ones that are supposed to be staffed by infallible and absolutely trustworthy airport workers who’ll never, ever abuse your privacy with them? Turns out they’re vulnerable to a sophisticated, impossible-to-predict technical attack: a guard was caught taking pictures of the screen while a female colleague was passing through the scanner. Who’d have guessed that was possible?

The ability of these new scanners to even detect explosives of choice is questionable:

Since the attack was foiled, body-scanners, using “millimetre-wave” technology and revealing a naked image of a passenger, have been touted as a solution to the problem of detecting explosive devices that are not picked up by traditional metal detectors – such as those containing liquids, chemicals or plastic explosive.

But Ben Wallace, the Conservative MP, who was formerly involved in a project by a leading British defence research firm to develop the scanners for airport use, said trials had shown that such low-density materials went undetected.

It has been reported that a new direction for suicide bombers includes the insertion of explosive breast or buttock implants.

Al Qaida already has employed the tactic of inserting explosives into the rectum. These are completely obscure to scanners. In Obamaworld this will mean everyone getting an anal and vaginal search because Obama does not want to irritate Muslim suicide bombers.

Then there’s simple abuse.

We were promised that images of you naked would not be stored. That was a lie.

We are assured that security employees would not abuse these images:

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police received an allegation regarding an incident that happened at Heathrow Terminal 5 on March 10. A first-instance harassment warning has been issued to a 25-year-old male.”

The BAA employee took a photo of his co-worker, Jo Margetson, when she inadvertently went through a scanner.

“I can’t bear to think about the body scanner thing,” she told the Sun. “I’m totally traumatised. I’ve spoken to the police about it. I’m in too much of a state to go to work.”

TSA agents are carefully screened and selected, right?

As AirSafe News reports, “The current system of background checks may have allowed those convicted of rape and other sexually based offenses to join TSA.”

Indeed, back in March it emerged that TSA worker Sean Shanahan, who was employed at Boston Logan International Airport to pat down passengers, had been charged with multiple child sex crimes targeting an underage girl.

Given the fact that the TSA’s new policy allows workers to fondle breasts and genitals, expect a flood of sex perverts and rapists to eagerly sign up.

As I listen to reports of TSA agents demeaning and screaming at travelers, I think we are witnessing the unfolding of a new Stanford Prison Experiment. The TSA is now a police state and all Americans forfeit their Constitutional rights. And that’s no exaggeration. Two quotes courtesy of Gates of Vienna:

We ask for cooperation, patience and a commitment to vigilance in the face of a determined enemy.

— Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security

Nobody likes having their Fourth Amendment [rights] violated going through a security line, but the truth of the matter is, we’re gonna have to do it.

— Mo McGowan, former Director of TSA Security Operations

Napolitano has made it clear- we Americans are the “determined enemy.”

And as for violating your Fourth Amendment rights? No, it doesn’t have to be done. Profiling is the answer. No one bats an eye when banks, insurance companies do it. No one bats an eye when police do it for all normal operations.

It is a problem only when it involves Muslims. The rights of Muslim suicide bombers are given far more respect than the rights of innocent American citizens. Profiling doesn’t start with Islamists but it will end with Islamists. There is no other religion which promises rewards for blowing up yourself and as many innocents as possible.

But not all Americans are subject to this abuse:

WASHINGTON — Representative John A. Boehner, the soon-to-be Republican speaker, pledged recently that he would fly commercial airlines back home to Ohio, passing up the military plane used by the current speaker, Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat. But that does not mean he will endure the hassles of ordinary passengers, including pat downs and other new security screenings.

And it nearly makes me vomit to hear our moron President say this:

“One of the most frustrating aspects of this fight against terrorism is that it has created a whole security apparatus around us that causes a huge inconvenience for all of us,” Obama said.

All of us? All of US?

Who the hell is he jerking around here? When is the last time Michelle Obama had an agent grab her crotch? When was the last time one of the Obama girls was stuck in a scanner? Obama could show “all of us” how he empathizes by putting Sasha or Malia through a scanner every time the fly. Let’s see Obama get his privates searched in public.

Let’s see more of this “us” bullsh*t.

The current Obama policy is galactically stupid.

It’s time for this idiocy to end. Barack Obama as President is the biggest blunder in the history of this country. It’s time to end the Barack Obama Experiment.

I THINK IT’S FANTASTIC TO READ MANY TIMES OVER AND OVER AND STILL FIND SOMETHING

CHUNK OF WOOD IS DISOLVE, THANK YOU FOR SUCH HIGH CLASS ACHIEVMENT
BYE

MATA ON 100 S AGAIN, YOU ARE A PRO, CONGRATULATION AGAIN.

Thanks for your perspective! Agreed, we need no more “yellow dog/conspiracy wacko sites.. enough to go around already! I feel the most of the “on the line” TSA guys, as they do what the boss tells em…. tho I DO believe there are those who are using this to “go beyond”…. simple answer???
I still say to modify to a more “proven” system… we know who, and where that one is…. only Obama and Co will not use it… the “PC” guys are in charge, and we get “Second Class billing” when it comes to being PC to others, IMHO….. THAT level of blame, goes WAY above the TSA level….

ah… the most lovely Ms. Bees. Again, never noticed the “comment count”, as you are so astute to do. I have to say, you love that debate rages on, yes?

I also want to say that you and I are not always on the same page when it comes to constitutional legalities vs emotions on issues. But I know you well enough, on and off forum, to have great respect for both your passion for American freedoms, emotions and our legal aspects.

I want to thank you for a great compliment… even tho I know I have many an FA reader – scratching their heads, wondering if I changed my voting patterns to lib/prog. No maam.. I haven’t.. just to alleviate that question. But I consider it an honor that you can differ in your opinions, and yet still be the very gracious lady I know you to be.

Hankster Do you think these TSA guys would actually enjoy groping old timers like you, me,Dr.John et. al.Hell,i’d feel sorry for em.Lousy way to make a living.

@Hankster58, thanks for your comprehension as to where I am coming from. I agree that abusers of the power need to be nailed to the wall in every way possible.

I also agree that I’d love to find a more viable system to accomplish what they are trying to do with these new scanners. If we can focus on that, I’d be much happier.

INRE Obama… he’s a sheeple, led around by the nose by advisors… as usual. The real trip is, we all know there’s a problem. We all know security is viable and needs to be done. Perhaps what it takes is serious debate – sans hype – to come up with viable alternatives for a problem that does exist.

Yes, that includes incorporating screening/profiling that fits within our principles. It also incorporates technology that does the same.

But until we can tone down the political argument to get to the solutions argument, we will get nowhere.

Again, thanks for comprehending my perspective.

@DrJohn: This is curious.

Nothing is new or different to you over the last two years even though new and more stringent guidelines have been issued.

….snip….

Honest to God, sometimes your omniscient self-righteousness is suffocating.

I’m not sure what part of my flying schedule this year – which as I’ve repeatedly pointed out is 6 times thru security (eight flights.. correction, six times thru security personally, and two times sitting in a food court just outside the security gates, watching people come thru) in the last 3-4 weeks alone, and totals more than 12 security screenings since this past spring – you can’t absorb, drj. But since you’ve not volunteered your own last personal flying experience – and merely say “millions of miles” over your lifetime (welcome to the club, BTW…) – I’d have to say that not only have I had more first hand experience than you recently, but I tend to read beyond the first paragraphs of your own links.

Pistole, a 26-year FBI veteran who became TSA’s administrator in July, on Monday defended his decision not to widely publicize the procedures ahead of their rollout, calling it a “risk-based decision” to avoid handing a road map to potential attackers. He argued that the outcry has been fueled, in part, by media-fed misperceptions over the new full-body scanning machines and enhanced pat-downs. [Mata musing…ah ahem…]Pistole noted that only “a very small percentage” of the 34 million Americans who have passed through security since the strictures were put in place at the end of October have endured the pat-downs, which can involve a TSA agent probing a passenger’s chest, genitals and buttocks. While passengers can opt for one in lieu of a full-body scan, they are only forced to submit to a pat-down if they trigger an alarm or refuse to walk through one of the advanced X-ray machines now installed in 70 of the nation’s 450 airports

I repeat.. ah ahem. The new measures were put into place at the end of October. I started my round of flights I’ve mentioned on Oct 23rd. My observations which, unless you can best my amount of first hand experience in that time, match exactly what he says. And the pat downs I have witnessed, including the video you want to get all in an uproar about, are not the “body cavity” intrusive searches you allude to. In fact, they are not any different than the body pats I went thru just this past spring, before the “new stringent” guidelines. And oh, BTW, I also went thru SLC not long before the kid you say was strip searched by the TSA… you know, the kid who’s father removed his shirt, and not the TSA? SLC’s airport actually runs a video for you while in line that tells you what to expect before you arrive at the ticket/ID dais.

In fact, if you watch the cell phone video.. you know, the one you claim they “threatened the guy” and said they’d “confiscate” his phone?… you’ll see the screener was half way thru screening the woman. That was the “pat down” I observed in every instance, including a Muslim woman in full garb.

The end of October implementation date becomes especially interesting when you consider the flight attendent who was talking about her breasts, which happened, so she says, back in August.

I will say this one more time for you, specifically. Maybe you can absorb it better than Billy Bob did. There are always exceptions. But the exceptions are not the rule. And my observance has not been the picture you paint.

You can try and keep this debate confined to facts and genuinely search for a solution, or you can play “Mr. National Enquirer”, and continue to fan the flames of discontent as you promise to do. Just don’t expect an echo chamber from me, or even a modicum of respect for your reader’s post blogger style.

BTW, one more aside for you. I have body piercings in personal areas. Never once have I set off a detector, never not passed one of the new scanners, and never had to reveal or remove the piercing.

Additionally I have a screw in my right ankle, and a metal plate in my left foot. Again, never set off a detector, my trips thru the new scanners have not been an issue, and I’ve not had to do whit with a screener as a result of a scan.

I notice your last scandalous headline in your reader post links to a commenter named Flashermac/Curmudgeon, with no working links to back up the claims. This sort of “reporting” works for you? And to your further embarrassment, the comment was dated in July of 2008.

Damn I hate to wade into the middle when two people I like are having a snit.

I have to say in Dr. John’s defense that the nipple ring removal – knee replacement pants story is real.

Here it is.

Now, in Mata’s defense, yes these events both happened before the stepped up procedures went into effect.

Oh, as a bonus prize…guess which attorney was suckling on the nipple story….why none other than Gloria Allred:

Photobucket

That’s right…the same Gloria Allred who says she enjoyed her enhanced TSA patdown…

Here’s a story that struck me as really odd. This lady was traveling through airport security. TSA agents were going through her purse when they found several checks accompanied by a bank deposit slip….now, of what interest are those things to airport security?

Well, one would think that there would be no interest there…apparently one would be wrong in that assessment.

The agents detained the woman, calling local police to the scene. Those officers initially accused her of embezzlement because the check numbers were nearly sequential. Another officer phoned her husband because he suspected a “divorce situation” in which she was emptying the bank account.

How, pray tell, does the financial contents of this person’s purse fit within the purview of TSA agents whose job is the safety and security of airline flights?

That’s right…it doesn’t fit.

The TSA directive specifically says: “Screening may not be conducted to detect evidence of crimes unrelated to transportation security.”

Now, if they had searched this lady’s purse and found drugs, a murder weapon, etc then suspicion would be warranted….but checks and a deposit slip? That’s stretching it.

In the same story we discover that Ron Paul’s campaign treasurer was questioned about the origins of $4,700 in cash. Is carrying cash evidence of a crime now?

Gloria Allred??? LOL!!! That perverted woman will like ANYTHING, as long as she gets a “headline” from it!!! Gloria is all about Gloria!!! WHY she hasn’t had her Lawyers ticket REVOKED I don’t know, especially after what she did to her “client” that Illegal who worked for Whitman in California… Allred got her to “speak out” and admit she was a criminal and all but deport herself…. so what PROTECTION of her client did she offer?? NONE, but GLORIA got the headlines once again, her Client gets the boot!!! SOME ADVICE!!

As to “Aye’s” comments…. this is where I believe in the “don’t give em an inch” line…. you let them do ONE thing, and they add FIVE more “violations of rights” to it!!! One like you show with the “whats with these checks” deal…. the checks were “out of the scope” of their authority and therefore OFF LIMITS to them to even LOOK at…. this is the “police state” mentality that creeps in, with such overbearing power being allowed… the head swells bigger than it is supposed to be!!! Yet, they in fact WENT BEYOND their powers, and no one has pulled their “choke chains”…. why not?? Perhaps because this was the actual INTENT of Obama and company?? Grab as MUCH “power” as one can get away with? I trust this administration as far as I can personally THROW it!

@mata…. I agree with your angle, unless the other guy produces Video or written confirmation of the basis of HIS side… after all….. the problem is, there is a lot out there leaning Dr. John’s way on this…. some factual, some conjecture… but when the connected dots all point to backing up the conjecture. a good look at it is due….. And I flew from STL to Dallas/Ft Worth two yrs back, and other than a walk thru a metal detector, and run the bags thru the scanner, THAT was IT!!! So to say it’s the same stuff now……um…..

Notice the protest called for, and how FEW have done so… THIS is the undoing of America folks…. the SHEEPLE have been conditioned…. “just bow down, submit, and you’ll get thru FASTER than those who want their RIGHTS!” so the sheeple bow down…. sickening….

Gloria’s client, Nicky Diaz-Santillan, the maid, was known about by Jerry Brown 2 weeks before he flatly denied knowing about her.
A nurses union was paying her expenses the whole time.
They had convinced Nicky that Meg was powerful enough to have snapped her fingers and gotten her maid legal status instantly ….. had she just wanted to…..but she didn’t…..because she is ”racist.”
Nicky was probably one of only a few people dumb enough to believe it, too.
But Gloria couldn’t refrain from saying how smart Nicky is every chance she got.
A true useful idiot, Nicky.

@DrJohn, of course they took the link down… because the dang story is over two years old. Is it germane to the issue? Perhaps, because any abuse of power has no time limits. However the first line of your reader’s post starts with:

New TSA Screening Procedures

The airline attendent/cancer survivor was in August. The 12 year old girl, which was pretty much a non story since she was scared just to walk thru the scanner and had no other intrusion, was back in July. The last one, as I pointed out, is over two years old. The new TSA measures went into play in late October. Obviously, these events are not part of the “new” rules.

For the man with the urine bag, I’d probably have gotten thru the search and once on the other side of the security scanners, called my lawyer.

Do I think any TSA screener, overstepping the bounds, needs to be not only fired, but prosecuted? Absolutely. Do I think it’s the norm and not the exception? No.

The question is, what are TSA guidelines and are they within reasonable search bounds?

Which brings me to Aye’s stories… the one INRE the checks also being pre-new enhanced searches. Of course, that was also back in August, and pre-new procedures. And to me, again I would call my lawyer as soon as I exited the security area. Unless they can genuinely link that search for cash to potential terrorist funding (and they did use a form or profiling when they said she became more and more nervous… as most would), I’d be suing them, and lobbying for those TSA screeners to be fired.

As far as carrying large amounts of cash around, that may be a good question for Curt. While it’s not a crime, it does raise the suspicion level and is likely to open you up to scrutiny. Mattress money tends to do that.

I agree there are better ways to do things, drj. Don’t have an issue with you on that. I don’t even have a complaint when there are genuine TSA abuses… as some are, and some aren’t. Just have a problem with exaggerated headlines and stories, less than stellar research, and fanning flames using mistruths. The pat down on the cell phone (not “threats” or “confiscation”), the pat downs I’ve seen and experienced myself, are the norm. To classify every search as a “grope” is simply a stretch of reality. You may not like that I call you on that, but it needs to be done. Completely unfair to the majority of TSA screeners out there, doing jobs they don’t like to do. And a high percentage of them are former military.

Of the above stories you linked, the gentleman with the urine bag seems to have the best chance of a lawsuit. Flight attendents and pilots do this regularly, so they should have a more streamlined search process. But then, what’s to say that terrorists can’t infiltrate those ranks too? And, as OT pointed out here, they are talking about using implants on the body (such as breasts) as bombs.

As I said on my own post, it’s a conundrum. But obvious abuses by individual screeners should be prosecuted to the max. However it appears that most of these events are not abuses, and for a few others they did things outside the TSA guidelines… and have been doing it for quite some time (unrelated to the new procedures). Don’t know why any of these people didn’t make a complaint before, if they felt they were wrongfully treated.

According to TSA, they’ve had a total of 110,000 complaints since their first day of operation, which is about 1000 a month. I assume some were genuine, and others not. But when you consider how many people go thru security in one airport a day, that’s not a huge number.

I think what it comes down to is there are bad TSA screeners, and there are those that do their job with respect and courtesy to the traveler. But I’m not sure it’s the TSA regs in general that’s the issue…. unless you want to revert to the more logical argument about the scanners and their safety.

Well, drj… how are any of us supposed to know your lead sentence was supposed to be a tag line for a photo, and not the lead for your post? If you have a photo removed from photobucket, you can always email Curt or any of us to replace the photo for you. INRE the one you wanted there? I’m not going to post it as a courtesy since I guess “not graphic” is a subjective opinion… LOL That’s a Curt call.

And I still wish you a Happy Thanksgiving yourself, drj. Just because we disagree on a few issues, and I get on your case about what I think are some counterproductive tangents, doesn’t mean I don’t like you. So just for you, a Thanksgiving grin.
