Proposal to Name Philadelphia Naval Shipyard after John Murtha

Philadelphia democrats have proposed naming the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard after the disgraced and deceased John Murtha.

I. Kid. You. Not.

The same John Murtha who worked closely with anti war groups in developing a ‘slow bleed’ strategy in order to undermine the ability of our troops to successfully engage terrorists in Iraq.

The same John Murtha that accused the now exonerated Haditha Marines of murder and war crimes:

Murtha has an airport named after him, let that be. It would be more meaningful to name the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard after one of Philly’s fallen soldiers.

This is yet another example of Philly democrats blatant disregard of the sacrifices made in the name of freedom by Philly natives in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Noteworthy: Chris Freind says “Just Say NO” to the Jack Murtha Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.  Chris confirmed my suspicion that Rep. Bob Brady (D) had much to do with this proposal.

I urge readers to contact Bob Brady and send him this link – it contains the names and life story of fallen soldiers from the Philadelphia area.  Every single one of them would be a far better choice over John Murtha – a man whose actions endangered our soldiers during a pitched battle in Iraq.

This would be a disgrace. Murtha doesn’t deserve to have anything but the local trash dump named after him. As my marine friends and family have always said, Murtha is the only EX-marine there has ever been in the entire history of the Corps(and it’s not pronounced corpse either BRob, despite what your idol claims).

Isn’t the Philadelphia Naval Yard full of decommissioned and mothballed ships awaiting scrapping or sinking?

If so, that might just be a decent idea to name it in honor of someone who the Navy (Marine Corps) might have wanted to scrap.

The more I hear and see of Democrats, the more they bring to mind the politburo and the proletariat of Stalin’s Soviet Russia. There are the disgusting morons who get first dibs to the toilet paper, and the myrmidons they control who have to make it, while they themselves must use a makeshift.

Wouldn’t it be fascinating to witness this ‘politburo’ as they decide on the naming. It would be shuttering as well. The useless planning the useless.

Actually turfmann, I’d like to see the marines at Quantico name one of their latrines after Murtha. Or maybe go even farther and post his pictures on the bottoms of the urinals and toilets.

Actually the Marines are ahead of you…(as they are ahead of us all)

My son says that when the need to defecate is eminent, they say: “I need to go take a Murtha.”

@turfmann: there is a sad irony in your comment in some ways. However the publicly owned Naval Yard (to the tune of $396 mil per Global Security data) is to be modernized and plans to design and manufacture container and tanker ships using the world’s most advanced robotics and software technology.

I’m with Skye, here. There are others more worthy.. via their service to country… than Murtha, tho less well known, that should be considered for the namesake honor. Those that are also sons of Pennsylvania.

BTW. Even Gov Ridge or Mayor Rendell is a better alternative, as the inked agreement for the new commercial shipyard came as a result of their negotiations, and has nothing to do with Murtha… Unless, of course, it was some stealth pork we’re unaware of.

After months of intensive negotiations, on 21 October 1997 Pennsylvania Govenor Tom Ridge and Philadelphia Mayor Rendell signed an historic agreement with Kvaerner to to renovate and modernize the publicly owned yard. The shipyard project includes a public investment of $396 million in capital funding from federal, state and local sources. Public bodies will retain ownership in the yard and can recapture it should Kvaerner significantly reduce ship production.

    @johngalt: ROTFLMAO!

Other than that, Skye… let us know what you think is a good plan of action, and let us know what we can do to help.

And thanks for the heads up.

A constipated Marine told his corpsman about his problem, the corpsman gave him some meds and put his hand on the Marine’s shoulder and said, “May the Murtha, be with you”.

Who would ever want to eat, “Murtha, on a shingle”?

I saw a bumper sticker, “Murtha Happens”

They say Murtha slides downhill or Murtha finds its own level.

    Murtha Fire and save matches.

That’s all folks! May Murtha enjoy Hell!

The democrats just made a mistake. It’s not the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, it’s the Staten Island ship graveyard that should be appropriately renamed after Murtha.

If Murtha would have been black, the Progressive Socialist Elites and the Soros Sycophants would be calling us Racists (capital R); yet since he was White, we just have no respect for the dead; thus, we are just ‘Pieces of Murtha’.

Wouldn’t naming a city dump for murtha be far more appropriate?

Tried to write to the congressman but his site only allows people from PA to write to him. I put in my Florida address with PA as the state and my Florida Zip code. He’ll probgably throw it out now.

I’m a little confused. The ship yard made ships that were made to defeat our ENEMIES. Murtha wants to defeat our MILITARY. They need to come up with a more suitable object to put the Murtha name on.

BlackFive should start a contest for the APPROPRIATE objects to put his name on. They should narrow it down, then let us vote on those chosen.

One suggestion I have would be to name a manure spreader after him since that is what he is spreading. I would like someone to PhotoShop his face on the back of a manure spreader and have the manure coming out of his mouth. It could be called the “Murtha Manure Spreader,” and there should be a lot of it coming out.

@TheEnigma47: I go along with the dump idea, except that you throw trash IN a dump. Murtha throws it OUT.
