Naaah. Green is good but the ad sucks.
I saw this ad yesterday, and was pretty disturbed by it. The message is that Eco-fascists are running around, imposing their views on everyone like an obligatory religion – a sort of Eco-Sharia, and the solution is to conform with this Audi.
My solution would be refuse to conform, by driving a 1970 Lincoln Town Car – making sure to pack the trunk with at least 700 pounds of concrete bags to ensure terrible fuel economy and maximum emissions.
Haha, or get the oldest Chevy pick-up truck or even those H1 Hummers, haha!
I don’t get it. It’s supposed to be an advert for cars, but after watching it, I want to buy shotgun shells. What gives? Is there some kind of subliminal message?
Why is the Environmental Protection Agency buying firearms for it’s agents?
Because there are criminal organizations in the “business” of disposing of toxic wastes by dumping them illegally, and because public employees working for the EPA are charged with investigating and stopping such activities. Some civilian government workers routinely place themselves in dangerous situations on our behalf.
This commercial gives all Liberal Eco’s orgasms I am sure.
Criminal? What happened to the consideration of innocent until proven guilty? I guess this idea will find itself on the compost heap of a ‘green’ nation.
This commie-mercial disturbed more than any other ad, and I did not think there was anything clever or funny about it. I saw it as a ploy to make people chuckle about overarching government control. Eco-Fascists in this ad reminded me of Nazi Police. I think this ad will absolutely detract from VW and any Green Movement they had intended to promote. Two big thumbs down.
Does anyone know under what law or statue that the EPA has the power to carry guns and arrest people? Does anyone know if the EPA is bound by the same restrictions on use of force / power against american citizens as other federal police agencies, such as the FBI, DEA or ATF?
@A former public employee: I don’t know where YOU worked, but speaking as a former employee of EPA, I don’t recall the agencies mission to include using armed force to enforce pollution laws.
I never carried a gun when I worked for EPA and I lived in Washington DC which is much more dangerous to the safety of government officials than confronting polluters.
Some things just do not translate. I get that Germans (at least those who approved this commercial for their product) might be okay with a police state running their lives (Stasi anyone?). But to expect freedom-loving Americans to find humor in ecofascism run amok is going too far. Obviously, all the MSM love for the 30% Kool-aid crowd gave the Germans the wrong impression.

I dunno. I watched it a couple times and I almost get the impression from the look on the Audi driver’s face and the way the car revs up when he takes off that ‘While I’m glad it makes you sanctimonious eco-nazi’s happy, I bought for the performance’.
You know, you can park next to your neighbor’s Prius without enduring a self-righteous rant, but still have a car that’s fun to drive.
Maybe it’s self-justification because I’m looking at a Jetta TDI – which will be parked next to my wife’s Prius
I’m not a fan of Audi machines to start with, and all this commerical does is reaffirm my distaste for this company’s products. If this is intended as a sense of comedy, then I’m not getting it as this seems to greatly endorse a Facist society and that makes me sick to my stomach.
All good comedy has a grain of truth to it
