Ben “Money Talks” Nelson Heckled By Constituents While Eating Dinner

Now this is rich: (h/t Ace)

Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson and his wife were leaving dinner at a new pizza joint near their home in Omaha one night last week when a patron began complaining about Nelson’s decisive vote in favor of the Senate’s health care bill.

Other customers started booing. A woman yelled, “Get him the hell out of here!” And the Nelsons and their dining companions beat a hasty retreat.

“It was definitely a scene in there,” said Tom Lewis, a 41-year-old dentist and registered Republican who witnessed the incident. A second witness confirmed the incident to POLITICO.

It’s a new experience for Nelson.

He used to be a popular figure back home, a Democrat who served eight years in the governor’s office and was elected twice to the Senate by a state that’s as red as the “N” on the University of Nebraska’s football helmets.

But Nelson has seen his approval ratings tumble in the wake of his wavering over the historic health care bill

~~~
Nelson made his peace with the bill by striking deals on his state’s Medicaid costs and on abortion language — and, in the process, incited a furious backlash in Nebraska.
Anti-abortion activists who have supported him in the past have abandoned him; he’s been the target of a fierce campaign by opponents to push him to block the bill on final passage; and the GOP now sees the opportunity for a pickup in 2012.
Couldn’t of happened to a nicer whore but I’m kinda torn on this. He’s out with his family trying to have a night out….do you really have to heckle him there? But on the other hand, he IS a employee of the people and as such the employer can very well make his/her opinion known of the employees performance. Especially seeing as how those employers may never see the guy again.
    Curt, please, after what this man has done to the country, I doubt if he will ever be able to dine in public. Let the chips fall where they may, we are in danger of losing our country to Marxists and you are concerned about an enabler; he has made his bed, let him live with it to the grave. This is hopefully only a preview of what happens to people who court the Marxists. The results of their treason may be catastrophic for the rest of the country, not being able to appear in public is hardly a penalty for a traitor!
    The days of polite are over, it’s time for an accounting. If Nelson really cared about constituents he would have listened to them in the first place!
    I hope he has to wear a bag over his head from now on!
    The days of polite are over. I agree.
    It’s still not too late for him to make all of this stop; all it takes is integrity and backbone. Oh, maybe it is too late.
    Don’t worry Ben, the blow-back from Obama’s plan to exempt unions from the tax on “Cadillac” health-plans is gonna make your little spat with the voters look like a love-in.
    A more blatant example of policy driven by the need to pander to a constituency would be hard to find. If Obama is dumb enough not to have learned from Nelson that many Americans are not complete selfish amoral idiots, unlike his own core constituency, he is going to be giving Carter a serious run for the title of One-Term-Wonder(what the voters were smoking).
    Benedict Nelson is only seeing the start of what he and the others will get when we common people (non-union working people) are sold out as he has done. He has not only sold us out but our entire country. He doesn’t have the nerve to meet with us in a “town hall” forum and his office doesn’t answer the phones. God help us-we need it more than ever.
    @Jeff Stone: lol….very true
    That’s why I’m torn guys. He deserves to be heckled but I didn’t like it when the left did it to Rove at his own house. Just saying I would of preferred it to have been without his family around.
  10. Disagree, Cliff.
    These scumbags have no shame. You have to shame them in front of their families or it doesn’t even faze them.
    Damn right you shame them. Leave them with nowhere to hide from public ridicule unless they retreat to their homes. Does their assault on our families end at their Congressional office walls? Does their theft of our hard earned income and that of our generations to come stay in D.C.? Can we tell the IRS to call up our Congressperson’s office and collect their property seizures there?
    Don’t think for a moment this isn’t war. It’s peaceful and nonviolent, but Obama and the left have launched a full-out assault on this nation and its middle class, stealing for their elites and tossing a few bones to the parasites who elected them. Chasing this scum out of the public realm is the least we can do.
    It’s a good thing that the diners weren’t eating pizza with pitchforks!!!!
    Public shaming is a good thing – it used to work as a humiliation – and he surely deserves to be publicly humiliated.
    Maybe his wife will make him sleep in the den.
    Can hardly wait to see them voted out – GOOOH NOW!!!
  13. Yeah Cliff, these idiots don’t listen and do not represent the population. They’ve voided their personal rights of free dining by giving up their duty to do the will of the people. The do the will of the special interests.
    If I ever catch my idiot representative or my 2 dbag senators out in a restaurant, the experience is going to be very unpleasent for them. Seriously if they resign then i’ll be happy to leave them alone.
    Heckle away — if in public — going to their house is a different thing, I draw the line there, private property and the neighbors too — but too, if a Republican RINO type is out there, sure, heckle away. Not just the Democrats. Philanderers, chicanery, appearance of corruption, nepotism, cronyism — the whole Royalist charade of charlatons needs to be heckled. And if the die hard lefties want to heckle Obama — let ‘em. It’s Free Speech, and Redressing grievances, Civil Rambunctiousness and maybe even Civil Disobedience. They don’t respond to letters, phone calls, faxes or emails — and therefore going to their offices and where they socialize is perfectly fine. They don’t seem to give a damn about polls, nor about us, nor about the country. They have brought it upon themselves. In fact, some posting of public schedules should be done — coordinated heckling. Heckle.com is good, no? And insta-tweets should be broadcast when they are found out and about — so that people can run to the scene of the travesty and fix it. They are problems, these politicians, and real Americans fix problems, don’t we?
  16. @Curt: I hate to see this kind of thing too. But Dems are only reaping what they have sown.
    For years, they poisoned the well of polite political discourse with their hate-filled attacks on Bush.
    Once you poison the well, it’s hard to get people to listen when you complain about how awful the water tastes!
    We can no longer fight the battle by behaving as ladies and gentlemen! This is an alley fight, no holds barred. We need to contest every issue, we must assume that the libs WILL CHEAT as a matter of routine. No more concessions until every last vote is counted, and if there is any doubt, counted twice.
    It doesn’t matter if we hate it or not, it must be done! Do you really care if they like us or not?
    I look at my grandson, and I have no idea what his future will hold, but it won’t be what I want for him unless we fight for it!
    It is time to trample their crops and sow their fields with salt!
    For the wrath that this man has wrought, I yield not my sympathy for such a slave to this political machine. I do not wish to see any physical harm done to, most importantly, his family or himself yet he must learn his actions are against the Will of the State and the Will of the People. Retail businesses should deny him service, resturants should have him escorted out, groccery/general goods stores should ban him and his family.
    His actions and his support for a highly toxic bill will, not a matter of “if”, bring economical ruin to businesses which barely survived the first fallout event of many to come of this economical recession and make null any attempts of starting a new industry/business. And with ruin to business, is ruination to tax revenue of which I doubt many Fiscal-Liberal could even remotely understand.
    The best part about it was the company he was with: His good friend James Martin Davis, a scumbag lawyer that tries to get the worst of the worst out of trouble. When a man received a life sentence for kidnapping, torturing, and raping a woman for six days, Davis complained “That too harsh.” Google that name (and Jim Suttle) and you’ll see what kind of company Ben Nelson keeps.
