Rep. Brady is one of the guys that has to go. He is one of the “conservatives” who voted for TARP despite thousands of voters contacting him and asking him not to! And then he came back to our district and told us he knew better (or thought he did). He’s so proud of his healthcare chart, but he’s not even talking about the un-Constitutional stuff that’s in the bill.

Enough double-talk – I’m glad we have a 9/12 Candidate and veteran running against him. All of them need to get thrown out so we can get new Statesmen and not politicians in office. Check this guy out: http://www.VoteTylerRussell.com.

I have posted on just why the “read the bill” will go no where today, Mike. Because it thwarts their back door passage of health care by tagging O’care as a rider onto the TARP bonus tax bill, and the merging of bills in the back room by the Senate.

Strategy is everything for their political game. And the “read the bill” bit doesn’t fit into their plot.

@stuiec: Those were campaign promises. Along with the misperception Obama deliberately gave of being a centrist it’s all a LIE.

There is no open and transparent process in Congress or the White House as they know if we find out what they are up to they won’t be able to get away with it no matter how many votes they have in Congress.

I just got this the other day from my Congressman (Chris Smith, R-NJ – yeah, the same guy who wrongly voted for cap and tax). This just goes to show the perils of NOT reading or understanding bills before a vote. Smith voted against TARP, but look at how this program in less than a year has become nothing short of an unmitigated disaster for us taxpayers and foreshadows ANYTHING the government puts in place – especially the current government. Here is a paragraph from his letter to me:

“Recently, in testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, TARP Special Inspector General Neil Barofsky outlined how the lack of specific regulations and controls allowed TARP to morph into something that was neither disclosed nor conveyed in any way to the taxpayers of America. Indeed, Barofsky admitted that the original framework for TARP was quickly shelved and that “the U.S. Department of the Treasury was created 12 separate programs involving Government and private funds of up to almost $3 trillion.” This sum is over four times the original advertised price tag of $700 billion. As if the $3 trillion figure was not shocking enough, Barofsky went on to testify that “TARP has evolved into a program of unprecedented scope, scale, and complexity” and that “total potential federal government support could reach up to $23.7 trillion”.”

Pretty sad and disastrous expenditure of our already abused tax dollars, and it illustrates that no one seems to be in charge.

Aleric, it’s not easy. You have to get elected. But before that you need a political machine, so you need to spend years building up community organizations to manufacture votes for you.

So you see, the Democrats in Congress feel they’ve already earned their semi-retirement.
