I often find that those who argue most passionately for environmental BS causes as those who have lived in the urban concrete jungle all their lives. Quite, in fact, the best environmentalists I know are the country dwellers.. who recognize environmental maintenance and the true meaning of “renewable resource”.

So when you’re an incandescent renegage, and need a fellow criminal with whom to bond… count me amongst your pals.

As for Joe? He may want to leave the busline every once and awhile to figure out what real “conservation” is.

@Lisa: Al Gore acolytes claimed that the climate would change in the negative ways which I listed in the original post and more. The problem is that none of that is happening.

In the last 20 years we have advanced our scientific understanding of climate to a much greater degree than when many of these crackpot theories were first formalized. We still have much to learn about climate. But in all likelihood, the most obvious answer was right all along: the earth is warmed by the sun and the sun operates in cycles.

Hey right! I’m a far far leftie who is just stopping by to say hello, and that I don’t think that climate change is human caused. The crux of Al Gore’s argument- the whole polar ice cap air bubble carbon dioxide content- is classic post hoc ergo propter hoc.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop my 2 cents to help you make your points more persuasive. In the comments here, people are mixing up two different arguments. Either you believe that:

a) the climate is not changing
or
b) the climate is changing, but humans aren’t causing it.

Belief a) is ridiculous. Of course it is. Anybody who denies that our global climate is changing is just being absurdly ignorant. Huge denial. Every every every single scientist agrees that the climate is changing. Stick with belief b).

So don’t point to your snow day and say “SEE! NOT WARM! Therefore no climate change!” because not only are you arguing a closed point, but you’re proving yourself wrong. That it is the EARLIEST snow day is just another example of climate change! The climate! It has changed!

So to all the rational people who are arguing that climate is changing, but humans aren’t causing it: make sure you don’t get mixed in with climate change deniers. They’re bringing your argument down.

Thanks for the compliment. I drive our liberalista friends crazy(yes, we have quite a few and many of them are extremely upset with themselves that they voted for Obama, imagine that).
I forgot to mention that we will be stocking up on the old style of light bulbs before Obama’s environazis’s come looking for us after 2012 when they will no longer be available. My “green”
mentality comes from working in the woods as a falller many, many years ago and knowing and learning the land on which I live, and have lived on and knowing what can be used and what must be left alone. I also fought fires, helped friends whos families owned ranches and farms.
I have worked with government hunters who removed problem bears, cougars, coyotes, run a trap line, woked in mills, mines and the forests. Lest anyone accuse me or say whatever about me; I have a Bachelors degree in American Military History with a double minor in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics and Spanish. I do not claim to the smartest person nor do I have the market cornered on wisdom. I am an avid fisherman and practiced catch and release long before it became popular. I do not hunt anymore due to two spinal fusions and eight shoulder surgeries but when I did it was never wasteful or just for fun. I love guns, weapons in general and am self taught and educated in many areas. I do READ alot, and I do research on topics that I am passionate about. This country, freedom, liberty, the Constitution, Military history, Islamofascism, Islam, terrorism, socialism and other repressive forms of government or ideologies.

I enjoy Flopping Aces and I may not post often but I am here several times a day and have a link to FA on my blog, small as it is.I am off to the ‘fridge for another IPA.

Please , by all means do your part so I can rest easy tonight and tomorrow, and the next day and the next….Do you need any extra eco bulbs? We have remoeved all the ones we tried as they totally suck, just like all thet hype and scare tactics of the GW trolls.The GW science and research is extremely suspect and I am not convinced. There are more and more scientists around the globe refuting GW and the skewed research of the past and present. I support this country becoming energy independent by using the resources we HAVE on hand. COAL, NUCLEAR POWER, OIL, HYDROELECRTIC and as they become economically avaialble, WIND, SOLAR and other ALTERNATIVE energy sources. I refuse to buy into the doom and gloom of the
GW stooges and you better kick it up a notch ot two in your effort. I just went to the store for some brews in my CLUNKER; 1995 Buick Riviera, supercharged that gets 32MPG on the Highway. I am going to be stoking up our woodstove to spew more particlulates into the atmosphere by using some more firewood as soon as I am done with this thread. Please don’t fret. Our woodstove is a newer model with three stages of burning and heat exchangers. I can get 10 to 12 hours of heat on one load of wood. If I use hardwood I can get burn/heat times of close to 20 plus hours. Some of the wood we are burning? Old growth Ponderosa Pine and Juniper that has been salvaged from local forest fires over the past 15 years. Salvaged logging sales that put people back to work in an area and state devasted by years of democratic, liberal politicians and blowhard environmentalists that have wrecked my state and many others. Some the finset and most concerned people that I have had the honor to know and work with have been loggers, fishermen, lumbermill workers, farmers, hunters who grew up with and on the land. Please take you your tripe and Al Gorism someplace else like Daily Kos or the Huffy Post.
You will have lots of like minded company there. You can have my carbon credits. They do not burn worth a damn in our woodstove.

Aye, Aye… you miss Joe’s own self admitted dichotomy… i.e. he sez:

Then he goes on to point out that Glacier National Park is the quintessential proof of global warming, despite more and more pointing out that climate change is towards cooling, not warming.

I guess those “some areas” only apply to the skeptics, and not to the AGW faithful. And of course that the park’s glaciers began to recede in 1910 doesn’t seem to impact his indoctrination…

Antarctic ice melt is at the lowest point in 30 years:

The ice melt across during the Antarctic summer (October-January) of 2008-2009 was the lowest ever recorded in the satellite history.

Such was the finding reported last week by Marco Tedesco and Andrew Monaghan in the journal Geophysical Research Letters:

A 30-year minimum Antarctic snowmelt record occurred during austral summer 2008-2009 according to spaceborne microwave observations for 1980-2009. Strong positive phases of both the El-Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Southern Hemisphere Annular Mode (SAM) were recorded during the months leading up to and including the 2008-2009 melt season.

Of course you certainly would never expect to see this news in the media.
