Actually with that formulation it sounds more like he was complaining that “the Won” didn’t get a free pass to get all the legislation he wanted through congress. Not so much blaming Obama as blaming those who have stood so foolishly in the way of his “mandate”.

NO, it’s not RACISM, it’s a LIBERAL thing. You can’t understand.

Isn’t the word out that anybody that disagrees with Obama is a racist? It did not say only white people, it said anybody. But then I don’t think that the New York governor fits in to that caoegory, he is just plain stupid. Like Obama , he cannot admit his own mistakes and blames everybody else for his downfall.

The only people I’ve heard say that are conservatives. Most people are very careful to point out that it only seems an element of the outrage. Tinge is a popular description. It’s a big leap from that to “anyone who disagrees with the president is a racist”.

Fit fit, are you referring to Jimmy Carter?
    That was His comment.

    Or perhaps Maureen Dowd?
As I recall that came bubbling forth from Her pie hole as well.

Considering Gov. Patterson is more “black” then Obama because Obama is half black I would think Obama to be the racist(sarc.)

    Carter:

I think it is within the bounds of political propriety, for instance, for opponents of President Obama’s proposal to raise the false claim that there are death squads, and that everybody that is over 65 years old is going to be deprived of medical care, to let them die early. Those are the kinds of claims that have been made against them. That’s okay.

But when a radical fringe element of demonstrators and others begin to attack the President of the United States of America as an animal or as a reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, or when they waved signs in the air that said we should have buried Obama with Kennedy, those kinds of things are beyond the bounds of the way Presidents have ever been accepted, even with people who disagree.

Now it would be fair to point out to Carter the same type of things happened with Bush, but is not fair to say Carter said all dissent is racist.

I’d love to see the signs that Carter is referring to here.

I’m willing to go out on a limb and say outright that such signs never existed.

Another example of why this doddering old fool needs to go off and enjoy a quiet retirement.

Now it would be fair to point out to Carter the same type of things happened with Bush, but is not fair to say Carter said all dissent is racist.

Well, Carter didn’t say “all” dissent is racist….he said “an overwhelming portion”. Tomato, tom-mah-to:

I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American. I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that shared the South’s attitude toward minority groups, at that time particularly African-Americans. That racism, inclination, still exists. And I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of a belief among many white people, not just in the South, but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply.”

The signs actually said Bury Obamacare with Kennedy. Still tasteless.

A portion is not a majority and it certainly doesn’t mean everybody, which is my point. Even Dowd was refering to the “loco fringe”. If “loco fringe” is how you guys are self-indentifing nowadays, you won’t get much argument from me…

    Tasteless? Really?

A portion is not a majority and it certainly doesn’t mean everybody

There you go selectively quoting Carter again…. He said “overwhelming portion” which clearly denotes a strong majority.

Carter should be very careful tossing around accusations of racism, especially when he is on video engaging in the actual behavior that Dowd is only imagining.

The Dims are the ones who have the checkered past when it comes to racial issues.

    Glass houses. Stones. Etc.

I just like the fact that Obama doesn’t put too much stock into what Carter says.

Now, this in itself present an interesting option for the liberals/left:

Either Obama is naive/dumb/obtuse/blind to the racism around him or …
People (like Carter and a lot of black Americans) are over-reacting.

You simply can not have it both ways. So, is he naive/dumb? Or are people over reacting.

fit fit: Be fair – the phrase was “overwhelming portion”
When *I* hear those words, the mental image that forms is a majority or darned near close to it. It isn’t a FRINGE GROUP that comes to mind. Please stop apologizing for Capt. Peanut (AKA the WORST president in recent history of the U.S.)

I will say that at least you acknowledge that a lot was done to BUSH too but – we couldn’t even begin to compare Obama to chimps the way Bush was done ad nauseum unless we are labeled a racist.

There are some forums I browse from time to time which are by and far black. You should see the hatred of whites posted there as well as the vitriol towards all things white. To criticize Obama there starts calls of racism and if the person is black the terms “self-hating” “uncle tom” and “sell out” are quick to appear in replies.

Remember: Blacks can be racists too.

Obama is smart enough to know if he says carter is right, he will be a one term president guaranteed. So he plays it down which has the added benefit of making him look more moderate.
My guess is that he probably does think it’s racism.

  16. @Hard Right:

    I agree with you wholeheartedly.

If Obie didn’t agree with Carter, one phone call would have prevented Carter from getting out there and doubling down on his crap spewage the next day.

Obie, and the others on the left, realize that they cannot win in the arena of ideas so they have to go to the race card.

Anytime someone trots out accusations of racism without clear demonstrable evidence it is because they are losing the argument on its’ merits.
