Pizza Naan Ala Whole Foods Market

Busy day today! After my morning run I headed out to Whole Foods Market to stock my pantry. I’m happy to report there were no UFCW wingnuts handing out hate literature at my local store. Below are just some of the goodies that can be found at Whole Foods Market:

When shopping look for the “365″ brand which is more economically priced and very high quality; as mentioned in America’s Test Kitchen and Consumer Reports. There are also ‘house brands’ as well, that offer lower prices and high quality. Armed with a little information you can save while stocking your pantry with high quality organic food.

Tonight’s dinner – ala – Whole Foods Market: Naan Pizza

A good, organic meal to please the whole family – as advocated in the WSJ opinion piece authored by Whole Foods Market CEO – John Mackey

Recipe:

Whole Wheat Naan
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Hydroponic Tomatoes
BGH free Part Skim Mozzarella
Sundried Tomato and Basil sauce
Organic garlic
Organic oregano
Organic yellow onion
Sliced pepperoni

Rub the Naan with olive oil, spread tomato sauce and add ingredients to suit your taste.

Bake at 475 for 6-8 minutes

No Whole Food store locally so tomorrow we drive 110 miles (each way) and spend a couple hundred dollars. I smile when thinking of sticking it to the crazy democrats twice, Buying at whole foods and wasting 20+ gallons of gas. Ain’t life great?

Thanks for the recipe! There’s a Whole Foods just a couple of miles away from my home, so I’ll definitely be paying them a visit this week.

There isn’t a Whole Foods where we live in Maryland – too upscale for us, I guess, or maybe we just eat too much BBQ over here – but there is one in Tysons Corner, VA, right along the way to Wolftrap, our summer, outdoor concert venue.

The parking lot usually looks like a BMW/Acura dealership, aside from my lone Jeep, but hey, it’s Northern Virginia, also known as the reason why VA is a blue state these days. I go there when I’m headed to Wolftrap because I like to watch the upscale but painstakingly “organic” patrons scout the aisles for “deals”, divine the merits of one store supported cause over another, debate bleached or unbleached flour in their crostini, and so forth, before they figure out how they can sneak off to Giant or Costco to purchase everything else they actually do need. I usually cap the experience by asking one of the clerks where I can find organic Cheetos or pork rinds.

I buy beer and ice for the concerts but now that I know that the veneer has been torn away from Whole Foods and that liberals are convulsing over the fact that a CEO might have a better idea about improving health care than BO, I may have to start buying olives or something from them. Why not if it’s going to a good cause, like paying wages to employees?

  9. I read Mackey’s op-ed:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204251404574342170072865070.html

I can’t find anything objectionable in it that would warrant the boycotts and venom being spewed at him and his company by left wing fascists.

His experience with providing responsible, cost effective health care to his employees is one which should be embraced if we are to find practical, bipartisan solutions to health care.

But then, I guess that explains why the left is angry at him. They have unmasked themselves. It’s clear they care more about the power government control affords them than providing health care solutions.

Someone should make a campaign commercial out of this example. It’s very illuminating.

I’ve been purposely stopping in the Whole Foods by us since this began. They have fresh corn from northwest Jersey which is delicious and frankly cheaper than ShopWrong. They also have a pretty good wine department.

    @Mike’s America:

    ding, ding, ding, ding….

    We have a winner:

“It’s clear they care more about the power government control affords them than providing health care solutions.”

You’ve summed it all up in a single line. This single point should be used as a cudgel at every opportunity because it is undeniably true. No effort at tort reform because that would undermine the lucrative financial backing from the trial lawyers lobby and nothing for health insurance portability or an end to state levied restrictions on insurance providers because that would rob the leftists of their current “villain”.

@tfhr: tfhr–I don’t know how far you are from Annapolis but Whole Foods opened a new store there that is fantastic! I stopped there yesterday and business was booming.

If there were a store near me, I would definitely shop there. If for no other reason than because the guy had the fortitude to speak his mind, and I can’t see a reason to deprive thousands of people their jobs because some A**hole wants a boycott of the company. What a senseless waste of humankind. Why don’t the Dems and the Libs realize they are on their last leg.
    Just my opinion
