Those in power now would much rather sacrifice the interests of the United States than admit they were wrong. On the other hand, by presenting only a leftist "me-to" candidate and sticking to the now standard GOP strategy of playing "the slightly lessor of the two evils," both parties can now share the blame for the betrayal of Iraq and of the American soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors who sacrificed so much to get us so far. The Democrat party is now openly socialist if not out and out communist, so no one who looks at them objectively can blame them for acting like socialists and communists. It is the Republican party that has abandoned it's principles, by seeking to "make the tent bigger" they have negated any reason to enter it. Many of us who support the tea party and anti Stalinist health-care movements remember that it was Regan who granted the first amnesty to criminal invaders and that both he and the Bushes grew rather than shrank government. They all had a chance to stop the sub-prime folly of Carter and Clinton, but did virtually nothing. To my eye it is the Republican party that should be held to the higher level of contempt by those who truly want smaller government and more freedom for the people. Just my thoughts of course.
