These Democrats who say they “were kept in the dark” about this program are either liars or have the most “convenient” memories extant.

It seems that not only were some in Congress briefed at the time, but so was the New York Times.

In their usual style the Times outed this story all the way back in Dec. of ’02…

In addition, Seymor Hersch talked about it in a speech he gave at the University of Minnesota last March, accusing Cheney of having “an executive assassination ring” and of the assassination of Harrari in Lebanon. (It turned out later that Hezbollah was behind that…) He does stuff like this a lot, but he backtracked like crazy when it went viral, denying he ever said it, but it was on tape.

One thing that sticks out is that the article in the NYT mentions Harold Koh. He is the pro abortion former Dean of Yale Law School that Obama picked for the State Dept. Attorney last April. HE certainly knew about it, he whines his liberal crap in the article…

As far as I’m concerned, the real scandal is Why wasn’t it a fully funded, top-priority mission all along? Obama sends Hellfire missiles from drones into “suspected terrorist” enclaves in Pakistan, but heaven forbid we surgically target top Al Qaeda leaders.

There was an operation in the works, known to the Congressional members who needed to know and funded by them, to target top Al Qaeda leaders that was so “secret” that it was being touted on the college lecture circuit by Hersch last March. Panneta finds out about it last June and is so horrified that he immediately cancels it. (heaven forbid that any of those leaders actually get…hurt). Congress then leaks this classified information to the press in an effort to cover Pelosi and take scrutiny off of her lies. Panneta says nothing about the fact that his briefings to Congress that told of this operation were themselves classified and were leaked.

They trot out the Bush surveillance issue again, and Former CIA Director Michael V. Hayden, an ex military man, not a political hack like Panetta, immediately comes back and calls them liars and names names.

It the days following 9-11 they would have had no problem getting congressional approval for this program. It boggles the mind that they decided to break the law when they probably didn’t have to. I guess Rahm isn’t the only one who doesn’t like to waste a crisis…

This is they real way to fight terrorists. They aren’t scared of dieing in open conflict or suicide attacks. Deny them martyrdom. Kill them will they sleep. Make them fear betrayal from those around them.
