Congressman Hoekstra (R-Michigan), ranking Rep member on the aforementioned Intel Committee, has been banging the drum all over the media the past couple days…He was so prevalent, it was hard to turn on cable, network, radio without hearing him speak…a real valiant effort by any standards.

I am sure all of you have heard/read his remarks and his push to get this matter to full investigation and call Ms Pelosi’s bluff.

The whole scenario/letter is fishy as Hoekstra (and all other Reps) was left out of the meeting when Panetta supposedly admitted CIA wrongdoing….and is subsequently denying. It seems that Reyes sent meeting announcements via a slip of paper under the Republican Intel Committee members’ office doors at 7 at night — calling the meeting in 10 minutes. Hoekstra’s support team had gone home and he did not see the note on the floor from his desk. . .he relayed he was told about the meeting much later == when the letter came out.

Interestingly, he found the news media had been given a heads up that meeting was to take place — earlier that day — he did not offer when the Dem members were notified but they were all there as evidenced by the signees to the Panetta letter.

Along with Hoekstra’s push, I have heard there is also a push in the Senate for an investigation — Senator Burr (R-NC) for one mentioned this yesterday. Maybe with some public pressure, Pelosi and minions cannot squash an investigation. Ms Pelosi is making a mockery of her leadership role and is turning the serious business of the people into a winner take all board game and spending money like monopoly currency.

From firsthand experience, the CIA had about 90% creds with me during the Reagan Presidency. From the Bush I Presidency on it has fallen on budget cuts, mismanagement and micro management by Non Intel Community Political Bureaucrats. Folks that wanted no risks taken and as nonprofessionals failed to hone the sharp end of the resources available. At the time of my retirement it was 25% or less.

A reliance on Foreign Intel Services, some reliable and some not, became the mode of Ops. New Agents were trained by older good ones but restrictions on Ops placed on them by Non Pros weakened the product. Technology such as satellites took the place of HUMINT (Human Intel Sources) and it left a lot to be desired, a void to be filled for the End User, the Commanders of Troops on the Ground.

Trusting resources in Jordan, Israel and Pakistan for CENTCOM Ops instead of folks in Iraq & the Stans left some mysteries to those planning Pre Invasion Ops there. The sources were not vetted by US personnel so the margin of error on old info can be left to your imagination. President Bush was briefed on that info so errors were inevitable. When we got on the ground our Military G-2 sorted it out. It conflicted with Agency info. We used ours. Congress got the Agency info. No excuses offered but when Political Non Pros run an Agency formerly headed by folks of less intellect, less dynamic than William J. Donovan, Wild Bill, a Congressional Medal of Honor guy are succeeded by folks that are of lesser character, things became degraded big time.
