Transparency. Every day Obama’s been President, 16000 Americans have lost their job, and 10000 families have been made homeless. He deserves an expensive date night, right?

OK, we all know that there is an economic crisi going on. Everyone needs to take their belt up another notch and conserve. Everyone (that is) except Congress and the “Liar in Chief”? It would set an excellent example if the “Liar in Chief” and our hypocritical Representatives in Congress would practice what they preach. Instead of flashing that big obnoxious toothy grin of his from side to side as he departs on another trip to where ever he is going this time, he would just stay the hell home and do what most of the rest of us do to entertain ourselves, watch the TV. Now there’s a carbon footprint we could deal with.

As I’ve heard it said, “Not all comrades are created equal.” It probably would have been cheaper to ship the entire Broadway cast and a chef to the White House. But then, “the Great One” would not have had the opportunity to saunter around for photo ops creating his “Camelot II” legacy. All of this is too hard to swallow. Instead of a stimulus check, Obama should send us all Pepto Bismol to get us through the next four long years.

Name a Marxist leader in history who didn’t live like a king while killing the citizens. Hundreds of people are killing themselves daily to avoid becoming slaves to O’Dumbo. What’s a measly million dollars + (of someone else’s money) spent on a photo op/date? Get used to it, he’s too stupid to walk and chew gum at the same time and Soros leads him by the nose.

What would you do if this were Bush? Be honest. If Bush told all the execs to get rid of their corporate jets, cut back on the trips, and told everyone in the country that we were all going to have to tighten up, what would you say? Don’t compare this to the trips to Crawford. Bush never told anyone they made too much money and they needed to drive Yugo’s. Obama did. But if Bush made the statements you messiah made and then flew in pizza chefs from Chicago and mobilized the White House (to include reporters) for a date with Laura in New York, what would you say?

I’d be pissed. Even if Reagan had done it, I’d be pissed.

FIt: If Bush had done exactly what BO did with a date in NY with Laura, he would never had heard the end of it. And it would have led the nightly news for two weeks….with the media in an uproar over the waste of taxpayers dollars. This is the double standard that you Liberals impose on us Conservatives. And we are not taking it any more. Call it ODS or whatever….what BO did was NOT proper in these economic times. I know I am wasting my breath, but I just had to say this.

All Presidents make frequent short trips throughout their Presidency for a variety of reasons, some of which are of dubious benefit to the country (trips that include fundraising for their political parties for example).

You’re just engaging in the same petty criticisms as the people in the link. There’s plenty of substanative critisisms an intelligent conservative can level at the President. There’s no need to waste time on crap like this.

No doubt. But as Lorraine said, it’s a double standard, plain and simple.

  12. Yes, Nit Wit would be fuming if this were Bush. Just as if Bush had appointed someone like Sotomayor to the Supreme Court Dems would be shouting “RACIST” and no one would be telling them to shut up.

Sadly, Democrats wrote the rules on attacking a President and now that Obama is in office they want to change them. AGAIN.

But does anyone really think that if we simply ignored this story, or Sotomayor’s racist rant that Dems would treat Republicans any better next time we are in the White House?

Liberals heads exploded for weeks about Sarah Palin “spending” 150 thousand on a campaign wardrobe but Hussein Hopenchange and Mechelle blow half that in one night and it is fantastic !! I never though i would see this country in this situation. They have killed the United States.

  14. @chandler: I’d say the cost is much higher than $75,000. One estimate I read suggested $400,000 and it could be much higher than that.

But you do provide another good example of the hysterical media bias and liberal hypocrisy.

Mentally unFIT rears his hypocritical head again. ODS? From someone who was the epitome of a BDS sufferer? That is rich.

obama is repeatedly displaying how out of touch he is with the average American and what a ragingly selfish elitest he is.

For him to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars when thousands of people are losing their jobs each month is disgusting. Almost as bad is how the left defends him for something they would have crucified Bush for.

Question Obama should be asked, but never will: Mr. President, before you were elected president, did you ever spend $400,000 on a date? No? Then why would you think it appropriate to spend so much taxpayer money on one your ‘dates’?

Hey Hard Right, how about you link some BDS posts of mine? I didn’t knock Bush for using taxpayer dollars for fundraising trips here, just pointing out that this stuff happens all the time, and only petty partisans dwell on such things.

Fit, you’re missing the point. I don’t think anyone would begrudge President and Mrs. Obama the right to a night out on the taxpayers dime. It has to be one of, if not the most difficult jobs in the world. I actually think it’s great that his has date night with his wife, seriously.

My problem is with him telling everyone else to knock off their extravagant spending while he and the congress (democrats and republicans) completely ignore that advice. It is an elitist attitude. It’s like Gore telling everyone to drive battery cars and turn their thermostats to uncomfortable settings while he jets around the world in a private plane and sucks up have the TVA power grid with his estate.

That’s just assanine. Ad hominem attacks, especially one as vulgar as that have no place in a debate. Pull the rebel flag down off your garage, the 70′s are over.

I haven’t heard a call to end spending, people not spending is part of our problem. I heard a call for sacrifice. Sacrifice is taking a pay cut so others aren’t laid off (I know people who have done this). Sacrifice is donating your time to charitable causes.

As for Gore, you won’t find me bending over backwards to defend him…

I don’t have time to dig through every speech, but here’s a bit from a couple:

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said. “That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen,” he added.

But I’m heartened by what I’m seeing: by the willingness of old adversaries to seek out new partnerships; by the progress we’ve made these past months to address many of our toughest challenges. And I’m confident that as a nation we will learn the lessons of our recent past and that we will elevate again those values at the heart of our success as a people: hard work over the easy buck, responsibility over recklessness, and, yes, moderation over extravagance.

And to show the double standard, here’s a few headlines for ya:

    Headlines for Bush’s Inauguration:

“Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops die in unarmored Humvees”

“Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times”

“Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary Americans get the shaft”

    Headlines for Obama’s Inauguration:

“Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $120 million”

“Obama Spends $120 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party”

“Obama shows America how to celebrate”

  24. @Fit fit: The more desperately you sputter the more I am convinced this story is anything but a minor distraction.

Seems to me that if it gets you that upset there must be some fundamental truth you would prefer the American people not hear or see.

P.S. You haven’t heard the call to curtail spending?

Did you bother to read this post? I’ll repeat the subhead as obviously you missed it in your haste to comment:

Remember this? Obama scolded corporate executives: “You can’t get corporate jets. You can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas, or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers’ dime.”

Americans can’t keep their homes at 72 degrees but Obama keeps the OO hot enough to grow orchids then made fun of the DC people during the ice storm and ignored those suffering a couple of weeks without power due to the storm in Kentucky.
