Good Scott, you’ve first demonstrated that the media and McClatchy are not doing journalism, you are. Also, the Ridge statement is being used by the incorrectly; he was supporting the Bush/Obama policy of closing Gitmo, he was not, as ex-DHS Secretary saying the information gained was not useful. Adm Blair conflicting statements are odd; he seems to be daydreaming “other methods” which he does not list. If he knows “other methods” how come he has not used them on any of the three thugs involved since he has been in the job??

Also, the FBI agent involved in the dispute admits that prior methods failed, which was the reason for the disputes in in first place.

Odd also that, in the attack on Cheney, the media is apparrently unaware or ignoring that he is not the signer of any authorization*+

Scott, we should remember that the non-lethal methods used do not work on committed self-controlled operatives, only on the weak minded fools and lunatics, which describes some of the three thugs well. Both the 1994 US law and the toture treaty are full of loopholes, and the Stallinist purge/tin pot dictatorship Demo tactics attacking officials acting in good faith are disgusting.

Cheney’s speach push the democrats from the edge (of insanity) to full blown insanity. Never have so many of the weak minded lived in D.C., and the newsrooms. I pray no democrat ever gets in a car crash I respond to or come upon. I’d have to sit and laugh as they die. I gave up my EMS certifications in Jan so I can’t be required to render aid. Thanks Word. My favorite part of their article was when they attributed the word “only” to Cheney, lacked the balls to put it in a quote from Cheney which followed immediately after, and then went on to rave and rail about how Cheney said, “only.”

Really?! No transcript, just gut, kneejerk reaction text on their part, and can’t pick up a calendar? The “Bush took his eye off the ball” talking point gets killed by a freakin’ calendar every time, but they still cling to it like right wingers cling to their religion and guns I guess [bwahahaha!]

I have them on my Google Alert so every time they write a lie like this…I plan to post their gross, deliberate, half truth/half quote information with the FULL QUOTE & FULL TRUTH. If they won’t be a check and balance for the Dems who have power, then I’ll be a check and balance to them.

A 2008 McClatchy investigation, however, found that the vast majority of Guantanamo detainees captured in 2001 and 2002 in Afghanistan and Pakistan were innocent citizens or low-level fighters of little intelligence value who were turned over to American officials for money or because of personal or political rivalries.

Estimates of battlefield captures of Taliban and al Qaeda fighters in the early days of this war is around 70,000. More than 10,000 captives were vetted by American forces in Afghanistan and released. How many captured fighters actually ever made it to Guantanamo to be thoroughly interrogated and screened for high-value information? Less than 800 of which 240 remain; with 1 in 7 of those released returning to the fight. If a miniscule number of innocents get swept up along the way, it doesn’t invalidate the need to have a Guantanamo detention center anymore than an innocent man wrongfully convicted and sent to federal prison invalidates our entire judicial and prison system.
