As I noted with some of my Navy buddies, “even a drunken sailor stops spending money when his wallet is empty.”

  2. Ouch, that one hurt. Well, someone from the loyal opposition has to respond.

First, no one begrudges him the dog or the good hoops seat. Second, what he’s doing is consistent with his campaign promises and not out of payback to any of the “cronies” shown in the photo — in case you haven’t noticed, he’s angered these cronies with his policies relating to Afghanistan, opposition to special prosecutors and “rearward” looking inquistions, and release of detainee photos. Third, the $786 million thing is very misleading — (a) the Bush administration proposed a similar amount for no-strings-attached Wall Street bailouts and (b) the GOP’s “stimulus” package was itself close to $500 billion — top heavy with ever more tax cuts for the wealthy.

On the other hand, viewed for what it is — a wickedly clever political cartoon — I have to tip my hat.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

I thought the video was funny. Then I read Larry’s comment.

Just a reminder that Obies friends at the United Auto Workers spent $4.45 million on Obies campaign and now control 55% of Chrysler which may net them $10.5 BILLION unless they behave like the marxists they are and destroy the company.

I could give half a dozen more examples but I’m still laughing so hard at poor naive Larry.

P.T. Barnum once said “There’s a sucker born every minute.” Maybe he should have said “There’s a liberal born every minute.”

Larry said; “the Bush administration proposed a similar amount for no-strings-attached Wall Street bailouts”

Actually, the stimulus package that Former President Bush supported (Obama did as well) did in fact have strings attached to it. First of all, it had to be spent in halves, and Congress must approve before the second half could be spent.

Only the first half of it was spent in Bush’s final months in office. Obama then asked for the second half of it and Congress approved. The second half of the first stimulus package(a.k.a the bail out money) was not included in the stimulus package that Obama approved of.

So if you want to make comparisons between Obama and the previous president on stimulus (many on this blog would like to call it “Pork”) money spending, you may want to do some math. Bush spent half of the first stimulus package (I know, this is still a lot of money). Obama spent the second, plus the 787 billion dollar package he approved of.

Yeah, I don’t think they’re comparable by means, it would be a stretch.

That is, unless you like making double standards and you decided to hold Obama to more lenient standard than his predecessor. Then in that case, I guess you can imagine that Bush and Obama are somewhat similar in terms of stimulus (or “Porkulus” as some here would put it) money spending.

By the way, I have no problem with people who supported either or both of the stimulus plans. I have some friends who are for both. So please don’t interpret this post as some form of vetting of people who support government stimulus money. Personally, I don’t know if the money will help.

I hope it does for our country’s sake. So that when the economy turns around we could say that the government stimulus checks that people are getting via the mailbox helped. But, I am not too sure.
