Cheney & Newt On Colin Powell, Pelosi, Taxes and Waterboarding

Great interview of Dick Cheney today, some of the highlights….including this one where he states he has no regrets over the past interrogation policies:

Here he is being asked which person he would chose to be a Republican. Rush or Powell:

Some other parts of the interview are equally as good. Schieffer pulls out the party line talking points here:

SCHIEFFER: What do you say to those, Mr. Vice President, who say that when we employ these kinds of tactics, which are after all the tactics that the other side uses, that when we adopt their methods, that we’re weakening security, not enhancing security, because it sort of makes a mockery of what we tell the rest of the world?

CHENEY: Well, then you’d have to say that, in effect, we’re prepared to sacrifice American lives rather than run an intelligent interrogation program that would provide us the information we need to protect America.

The fact of the matter is, these techniques that we’re talking about are used on our own people. We — in a program that in effect trains our people with respect to capture and evasion and so forth and escape, a lot of them go through these same exact procedures. Now…

And here is Newt about Pelosi and her lies over what she knew and when she knew it about waterboarding….and check out the ending when he is asked to comment about Colin Powell stating the average American wants higher taxes for services:

More here.

    Curt….seems to be the wrong video (basically, same as the first); unless I had a listening/attention fart.

    Colin Powell was never a Republican. He was an opportunist, adept at cultivating the favor of powerful Republicans. Then he used those relationships to propel himself, a former “C” student, into the highest circles of power. Once there, he became Brutus, repeatedly knifing his former mentors in the back. No wonder Cheney said he thought Powell left the Republican party long ago.

    What kind of BS strawman claim is this? The other side uses REAL torture, murderers our soldiers when captured, and saws off the heads of the innocent.
    I have yet to read where we have done any of the above.

    AQ disembowels people on video, it is a typical left wing tactic to falsely claim the tactics the west and particularly USA and Israel are the same or worse than the tactics of our enemies. This false equivalence then eases their twisted ‘conscience’ (I truly doubt they have anything remotely analagous to a conscience but I give them the benefit of a doubt for the purpose of this post) in allowing them to support the enemies of Israel and America, because they are ‘oppressed’ the ‘underdog’ or are ‘freedom fighters’ or ‘insurgents’ or because the our ‘policies’ caused the ‘chickens came home to roost’.

    @Toothfairy:

    You’ve said a mouthfull, tooth fairy.

    Let’s not forget that he’s the putz whose responsible for America having to go back for a second round in Iraq, because he advised W the first that we could stop where we were then. And that @$$ has the nerve to criticize others for having to fix the consequences of his bad advice.

    I just can’t think of an insult commensurate to the disgust I feel for him.
