I have also heard the same stories about the tremendous evidence of WMD's being in Iraq up to just prior to the US invasion and their evacuation to Syria and other places. I also know people who were members of the ISG who told David Kay about this evidence, yet he turned right around to the TV cameras and told them the exact opposite of what the evidence showed.

As far as Jessica Lynch goes, what the Iraqis did to her is beyond horrific. In the 15-6 investigation report of the ambush of her unit, the other surviving POW's all had debriefing statements of 5-6 pages in length detailing their actions during the ambush, the circumstances of their capture, their treatment during captivity and their rescue. Very little of their debriefings were redacted or censored. But in the case of Jessica Lynch's debriefing statement, it was 34 pages long...with 32 pages of it redacted. There was no material remaining about her actions during the ambush, her capture, her treatment during her captivity or her rescue. You don't really think that she just kept saying "I don't remember....I don't remember....." for 32 pages, do you? The vast majority of Jessica's injuries were inflicted by her Iraqi captors throughout her captivity, not in the humvee wreck as the "official" story claims. There were also many of Jessica's injuires that cannot be possibly explained by the humvee wreck....like torn orifaces, point blank gunshot wounds, third-degree electrical burns, etc. I also know that Jessica wanted to go public with the truth but was forced by the Pentagon to use their cover story through the Non-Disclosure Agreement that she had to sign.

The whole ugly true story of what really happened to Jessica Lynch and the POW's from her unit who were tortured and murdered by the Iraqis needs to be told.....leaving no details untold.

It's the only way to get justice for Jessica, Lori, Don Walters and the others.

Didn't get to the last paragraphs of my post, eh DC? :0)

Yes sir, Gaubatz was branded every kind of crazy and conspiracist because he was on the trail to find out what happened to WMDs.

I call it a lost opportunity because Gaubatz got this intel from locals, who risked their lives to be informers. And the locations were corroborated by more than one source. He was livid when it wasn't followed up on. Excerpts from Eli's original article, and from my Sea2Sea 2006 post, linked above:

<blockquote>Mr. Gaubatz said each site he visited had similar characteristics. "Everything was buried and under water. They would drain canals and parts of the rivers. They would build tunnels underneath and they would let the water come back in," he said. But the water would only be allowed back into the tunnels after concrete walls were installed sealing off the secret caches of unconventional arms, Mr. Gaubatz said. He added that the tunnels in all four sites were wide enough for tractors. One of the giveaways, he said, was that homes near the sites were equipped with gas masks and other items to protect against a chemical weapons attack.</blockquote>

As for why these leads were never followed up on?

<blockquote>He says the reasons he was given by the survey group were that the areas of the sites were not safe, they lacked manpower and equipment, and at the time the survey group was focusing activities in northern Iraq. "The ISG team was not organized nor outfitted for this mission in my opinion and were only concerned to look in northern Iraq. They were not even on the ground during the first few weeks of the war, and this was the most critical time to go out and exploit sites. I feel very comfortable in saying the sites were never exploited by ISG," he said. In one instance a few inspectors did come out once to follow one lead, Mr. Gaubatz said. But they lacked the equipment and manpower to crack the bunker. "An adequate search would have required heavy equipment to uncover the concrete, and additional equipment to drain the water."</blockquote>

What are the choices here? Have the man dissed as a kook, or admit the resources were lacking, and/or spread too thin to thoroughly investigate? Obviously the media chose the former. Since most media had years vested in the "there were no WMD's" mantra, suddenly discovering them would not have served them, and their credibility, well. So that was more inviting than criticizing an undermanned ISG corps.

What a pity... I'd be curious to know if these sites still remain intact, and unexplored now.

I remember those reports of those fights. 60 dead because they were hiding in hospitals.
good job D.G. with all he has been through I don't think he will back down so he should be supported as all our Hero's

God Bless you sirs Amen

OT
How I read this story can you show me that good news of the headline how stupid do they think we are?
How it should read makes you feel warm and fuzzy good times are here.

New US jobless claims unexpectedly plunge to 601K
New US jobless claims unexpectedly plunge to 601,000; lowest level since January

May 7, 2009,

New applications for U.S. jobless benefits
The Labor Department reported Thursday that the number newly laid off workers
601,000 last week
But the total number of people receiving jobless benefits climbed to 6.35 million, a 14th straight record.
While wage pressures outpacing productivity normally would raise alarm bells about inflation, the threat of any price spikes is seen as remote.
[oil up 4 dollars this week to 56]
Even with the big drop in new applications for jobless benefits last week, the claims remained at elevated levels. By comparison, weekly jobless claims totaled 372,00 a year ago.
economists do not expect them to return to pre-recession levels anytime soon. They expect the jobless rate will keep rising through the rest of this year even if their forecasts for an end to the recession in the second half of 2009 are accurate.
unemployment data for April on Friday. Analysts expect the jobless rate will climb to 8.9 percent from the current 25-year high of 8.5 percent. Many analysts expect the jobless rate will hit 10 percent by the end of this year.
The rise in continuing claims to 6.35 million was registered for the week ending April 25, the latest data available. That was up from 6.30 million in the previous week and marked the highest tally on records dating to 1967.
More than 5 million jobs have vanished in the recession, and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Tuesday predicted "further sizable job losses" in the coming months
More companies recently announced job cuts. General Motors Corp. laid out a restructuring plan that includes cutting 21,000 U.S. factory jobs by next year. Microsoft Corp. said it was starting thousands of the 5,000 job cuts it announced in earlier this year and left the door open to even more layoffs. Chip maker Atmel Corp. last week said it would lay off 300 people, or 5 percent of its work force

To me the most important line which is breezed over is last years numbers; and not even mention last years unemployment which was less than 6%; and said to be what a depression. Are we in a depression under bho and democrat rule looks that way to me and with them stealing all our money to boot.
Are you mad yet?
