re – “Obama’s Ability to Be Independent of Democrats in Congress?”

Actually, I’ve heard that he’s making some of them nervous, though apparently not nervous enought.

Clearly grading the first 100 days for any President is without merit. Obama’s big problems will start to surface in 180 days or more. This economy, no matter how they spin it, is in a big time downturn. Tax receipts, sales tax funds are and will be shrinking, while his spending is going into hyperspeed. Commercial construction in California is down in the neighborhood of 30 -35%, car sales way down, dept. store sales way off. Almost every sales call I make, the question of the economy and how slow things are is asked and answered. It is depressing. His class-less propensity for blaming others will not carry as much clout in the near future. The bloom will be off the rose.

Joanne, here’s the money quote that puts his “D” grade into perspective:

You know, it’s gotten to the point that all I have to do is read the title of the post and I know what is going to be said. Having this poll on this site is liking asking Chicagoans to vote on which city makes the best pizza.

Wordsmith, don’t believe a thing that Feingold is putting out. He is an ultraprogressive from the get go. But, in order to get back into the senate in 2010, he has to win his race back here in WI. The last time, he ran on how conservative he was!! He even had his daughter make ads about how he watches every penny. It would have been comical if it hadn’t been so sick!

Now, after 6 years, he has voted his ultra liberal ways most times, but in the last 6 months when it doesn’t make any difference in the outcome, he votes the way most Wisconsites believe he should. He, of course, gets plenty of publicity each time he votes different than his normal pattern!

Something is scaring him! Maybe Madison and Milwaukee won’t have enough fraudulent votes this time, or maybe he knows the voters are mad as hell about the overspending. Whatever it is, Russ Feingold has never voted or acted conservative until election time.

I have to agree jmaes with the poll comment. I am a conservative and really tried my best to grade as honestly as possible, but all in all, the questions really didn’t leave me much wiggle room for anything other than ‘fails’ across the board. I hope Obama succeeds (unlike the left with bush), but I have my doubts
