apparently obama is not a true christian as he says he is. if he were, he would never be ashamed of our Lord by covering the things that represent Jesus, regardless of his presidential title. shame on him, the proof is in his actions. he is not a christian in my eyes.

Last month, when you called to tell me that the commencement speech was to be given by President Obama, I mentioned to you that I would have to rewrite my speech. Over the ensuing weeks, the task that once seemed so delightful has been complicated by a number of factors.

First, as a longtime consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, I could not help but be dismayed by the news that Notre Dame also planned to award the president an honorary degree. This, as you must know, was in disregard of the U.S. bishops’ express request of 2004 that Catholic institutions “should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles” and that such persons “should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.” That request, which in no way seeks to control or interfere with an institution’s freedom to invite and engage in serious debate with whomever it wishes, seems to me so reasonable that I am at a loss to understand why a Catholic university should disrespect it

Religious symbols are free speech and protected by the 1st amendment.

“Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Such Liberals with their rabid, ingrained vehemence against religion, display their own ignorance of the Constitution when they support the “establishment clause” but overlook the “free exercise clause.” The 1st Amendment works both ways. Georgetown should have told the Obama administration that the Executive department’s request was a violation of their Constitutional rights and as such, the symbols would remain uncovered.

@Aqua: I think so as well. I have been subscribed to his youtube channel for a while. Its great that his voice is getting louder. Very articulate and charismatic. Like I mentioned to Mike, I am looking forward to reading his book when it comes out. I know he’s been working on it for a while.

Well you know my views on religion – but I think it should the same rule for all religions. And if this is true – then I disagree with that happening if one religion is favoured over another in term of photo ops/speeches etc. However these things can be distorted and hyped. As someone here mentioned – Georgetown should of disagree and the WhiteHouse shouldn’t of requested it.

As far as religious symbols go and holidays etc – I have no time for the Political correct BS around such minor things. As long as it’s fair and reasonable. The west has a christian background so it reasonable for the West to celebrate Christmas etc and not have it renamed as Winter Festival so no one feels offended. But government should try to keep church and state seperate in terms of law making. If a government office has a xmas tree or the President says in God we Trust etc – then that’s fine. You would think this was common sense but like most things there are people on both extremes who take it too far…

Check out his earlier videos as well. He is just now getting some major coverage. He is also writing a book (which I am really interested in reading). He’s got the charisma, the faith, the conviction to really make a difference. Like you said, there is an energy pipeline that is just waiting to be tapped into. Good call.
