Just wish they had added their own input. But then, without know the specifics of affixed postage, we don’t know for sure because no one thought of that angle of federal violations. Obviously, it was not addressed to that family’s situs address. And we don’t know if and who are the “return address”, nor if there were “officers” involved.

All in all… looks quite likely they violated federal law.

ruaqtpi2, ACORN has been using class warfare for years, and no one seems to be that upset. Instead they flex their muscles more and more, shaking their fists defiantly in the nation’s face. Despite being under investigation for voter fraud, dodging criticism for their part in advancing subprime loans via lawsuits, they instead get the Obama administration’s blessing to participate in the next census.

I don’t think the revelation of breaking postal regulations will turn anyone off. ACORN supporters will remain ACORN supporters. And considering the media frenzy of hyping this public lynch mob mentality, I doubt most are upset about the class warfare either. To most, these are evil rich citizens who deserve all the harassment they can get. That’s the point of class warfare – to turn citizen against citizen in order to get government to step in and “equalize”.

I seriously doubt any of those families will bother to prosecute ACORN for violations of federal postal regs because they are already despised by the public. This surely wouldn’t help their popularity status.

However it’s quite notable that ACORN gets away with breaking laws, and escapes prosecution *because* of the class warfare they wage. They have intimidated their victims so adequately that they are unable to take advantage of even the smallest legal recourse in their favor. And that is the point.

I concede on the harassment issue. You’re right – the protests should have been at the doors of AID, Congress, and the White House.

As for the postal regulations violations, yes, you have a point. But I’d venture to say that most people would consider it a non-issue, at least in the large metropolitan areas in which I’ve lived (Chicago and Dallas), I think many people who would otherwise be swayed by your argument against class-warfare will be turned off by the postal issue. At the very least, some of your opponents are likely to use the issue as a distraction, whereas your main point can stand well on its own merits: that ACORN is using class-warfare to stir up the kind of hatred that make socialism look good on the surface for the “have-not’s”. And as history has shown, it doesn’t take long for the stark realities of socialism to deprive its victims of hope and determination.

So you don’t consider the focused wrath of Congressmen – asking for “names” – nor protest groups organizing bus tours to intimidate familiies of employees at their residences merely for being the recipients of what was in a contract negotiated prior to all this mess in any way “harassment”?

Or, another way of putting it is, when you have a work related incident that I… a private citizen… don’t agree with because I think you’re a privileged SOB, it’s’ okay if I and a few of my friends show up at your house to intimidate you and your family, right? Okay… got it now.

I suggest you miss the obvious. If they show up at the AIG Financial Products facility, it’s freedom to assemble. If they show up at the homes of the families in order to intimidate, it’s mob/thug tactics.

So what would it take for you to call it even “harassment”? Do the protestors have to burn, vandalize the homes and to take their mob mentality – fueled by the press and Congress, and not tempered by the WH – to a big enough step to capture your attention and outrage at their assault on fellow citizens?

And leaving the letter is not a red herring. Unless that sucker had a stamp on it, it was in violation of federal law and is most certainly prosecutable. I happened to have explored this myself when wanting to leave clients information, but had to check postal laws before leaving it in their mailboxes.
