CPAC 2009 – Timeless Principles
Ladies and gentlemen, I am happy to report that Conservatism is alive and kicking!
One reason for attending CPAC this year was to gauge the mood of the grassroots conservative activists in the Age of Obama. What I found was a strong sense of renewed energy and purpose. This was not my impression alone. On random occasions, I simply asked those near me to gauge the mood of the activists and received consistently positive responses. We all understand the problems facing the Republican party and are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Doing things simply because that is the way they have always been done in the Party is no longer an acceptable answer.
This is no easy task, as I sat in lecture after lecture which carefully detailed the magnitude of the creeping socialism being rolled out by this administration. No doubt, this is the beginning of the definitive struggle between self determination and socialism.
I am exhausted after this whirlwind conference, but by God, I’ve not yet begun to fight!

PS: Photos and Videos are on the way!

Skye- I think you just voiced the sentiment that all right of center voters hold. I’m with you for all thats worth, our motto should be “This country is worth fighting for” fight like there is no tomorrow, because if we lose there wont be.
It was fun seeing you again. But next rime pick someone else to be the secretary. Just kidding.
I also felt this and I definitely saw a lot of younger Conservatives there than I would have thought before going. i know a few of them were the Ron Paul supporters, but I think they are finally realizing Ron Paul is not the answer.
Also I did have some really good discussions on what the Conservative movement should be doing and what is should the GOP do. And I think Rush simply summed it up perfectly.
I think that Obama, Reid and Pelosi have wakened the sleeping giant of the silent majority. No matter what kind of conservative or as if we want to have a real definition of the Conservative Movement “Classical Liberals” you are in, we are all against the leftward turn in this country. And this includes many of the Blue Dog Democrats that are the Blue Collar workers. People are seeing what the Democrats are and are not liking it.
We had the Tea Parties, 1500 in St Louis, I did not know that there was that many conservatives even in St Louis. And we are going to have them on April 15and most likely a big one in Chicago on July 4.
Yes, many people wanted change, as did I from the Big Government shift in the Republican Party that left the core principles in the dust bin. But is this the change people were looking for???? And all out assault on Capitalism??? I think not.
The Conservatives are waking form their slumber. People like Skye with her new group the PACC, and many across the nation are starting groups locally to get conservatives elected. And I think this trend will not slow down.
As a Conservative, i hated that we had McCain as the candidate. We need to find the right people to lead the Conservative movement, locally and nationally. And i think this CPAC might have just been the calling card for everyone to get out there and do something.
Just my2 cents
Hopefully next year I will be going to CPAC again, they say they are moving it to a bigger venue and not the maze that they had this year. And maybe I will lay off all the free scotch also, woo, I am still tired from that
