Like many others I could not watch O’s speech last night. The man never had an original thought, but he sure do speak purdy.

With $13.00 per week tax cuts?

That is not a ‘tax cut’, that is a rebate. I missed the part where he clearly detailed what the percentage of our tax rate would be cut.

Terrific post Scott, you made reading the speech much more interesting. Had started to read it a couple of times today and got distracted, didn’t want to watch it last night.

It certainly appears that he “borrowed” plenty from the man he has constantly bashed for over two years. Plagerism is something both Obama and his VP have participated in during their political careers.

Yesterday, I held a fiscal summit where I pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term in office. My administration has also begun to go line by line through the federal budget in order to eliminate wasteful and ineffective programs.

Larry Summers fell asleep, wonder how many lines he was in charge of, coulda been another couple hundred billion he slept through? Obama said they found 200 billion in cuts, after spending over a trillion and more to come, how is he going halve that deficit before his only term ends? With $13.00 per week tax cuts? Increased spending and this Congress won’t be doing it. Guessing they will develop a new kind of fuzzy math to pass off onto the howobamagotelected.comers.

Couple of things he has left out, Costs, how much more, above and beyond what they are now spending, are all these health, environment and educational programs going to cost?

He also mentioned people going bankrupt due to medical costs and uses inaccurate figures to make his point, there were 822,000 bankruptcies in 2007, 5% were due to medical bills.

And then, about that little girl, what a coincidence that she hails from South Carolina, Gov. Sanford’s state. Obama is transparent and not in a positive way.

[Inherited a deficit? How does one inherit a deficit they created? It’s not like President Bush with his high approval ratings was able to ramrod a budget down the Democrats’ Congress in each of the past two years, and it’s not like Sen Obama was a silent voice in the Senate during the budgeting process. He helped create it. Any budget effects he “inherited” as President were created in large part by himself as Senator. Talk about pointing fingers, distracting, scape-goating, etc. Talk about responsibility.]

Exactly. And, does everyone conveniently forget about the cost on the economy following Sept. 11th? I’m not an economist, admittedly, but it just seems odd that there’s usually never a mention about that not so little detail that President Bush was faced with.

I knew I was hearing several “Bush-esque” sounding phrases…all I can say is his actions will speak much louder than words that attempt to “sound” more conservative.
