Aye, as I understand it, they finished the meeting with Obama, and were then to have a follow up press conference on the WH grounds with Glenn Beck. They were all escorted off the WH grounds after the meeting and did not hold the press conference in the planned location there. I believe he got his interviews instead at a Fox Studio… I don’t know for sure. I don’t see anything about this event on his site.

This stuff I picked up from from commenters in this Free Republic news blurb about his intent to interview them on the WH grounds on 2/6/09.

Anyone know anything about the USS Cole family that was escorted from the White House and then not allowed back on the grounds?

I read just a snippet on the Net yesterday but have been unable to find anything further.

It was good to see that Mr. Swenchonis and a few other family members have been invited for interviews. If nothing else, Obama opened the door for their story to get out and remind the public of what all the Cole families have been through and he dropped charges on their killer.

Scott, point of clarification. You referred to this as a trillion dollar “spending” bill, when the House version “only” has $350 billion in spending and the Senate version $390 billion in spending. The rest is tax cuts and I thought that Republicans are supposed to like tax cuts.

As I’ve stated before, I don’t like anything which increases debt, whether spending or tax cuts. But all the talk on this blog has been entirely misleading.

Basically, Bush cut taxes by a trillion dollars and has spent over $500 billion in Iraq (with multiples of that down the road, to follow). I maintain that Iraq did nothing at all to protect us from biological or nuclear WMD, which, according to assessments by the outgoing Bush administration, are the greatest threats to our security.

So here, we’ve got:

1. Bush. Trillion dollars in tax cuts; $500 billion (and growing to 2 to 3 trillion) on Iraq.

2. Obama. $400 billion in tax cuts. $370 billion in spending on infrastructure, education, health, and green energy.

Why precisely, is Bush a genius and Obama a fool?

P.S. In response to the main topic of your thread, as I quoted elsewhere (on the Fox News video thread with the Cole widow who refused to attend the Obama meeting with Cole and 9/11 families), it should be noted that the Commander of the USS Cole stated that he is accepting and understanding of Obama’s actions.
