would the mainstream media advertise it? Because so far, by looking at media reports of the scandal, you’d never know his party affiliation. Of course, it could just be my hyper-partisan paranoia coming out; it’s not like the mainstream media hasn’t ever kept secret a disgraced politician’s party identity. But still, is there a double standard for Republicans and Democrats? Or is that just a conservative myth?
And if Adams were a Republican mayor, would there be this kind of angst over whether or not he should be given the boot?

But remember that Portland is to lesbians what San Francisco is to gays. Same sex preference is as natural as a daily Starbucks latte.

Geez….I only briefly heard about it once, and that was on talk radio (yes, I’ve been living in a cave and not watching tv news and sporadic newspaper stories on the ‘net); I only remembered the story when some lefty left his droppings on someone’s blog, drumming up Larry Craig.
Well, remember I am in NW Oregon, Word. Can’t get thru a morning or evening local broadcast with it, the protestors etal being in your face.
Then I turn on the national news… and hear a few there. So a pol is lying scum, morally corrupt, and hid his past to get elected. Someone tell me what’s new??
But then, I don’t live in Portland. And I could care less who they have as Mayor. They’ll run the place into social welfare bankruptcy anyway. They’re already whining about the loss of revenue because everyone’s conserving on gas. Now they want to mandate installations of GPS type equipment that monitors how much you drive, and charge you gas tax per mile driven.
Lived in California… left because it started looking better in my rear view mirror. Looks like retiring in Oregon isn’t going to be in my future either.

what is so funny is that so many dems don’t think that he ws grooming a victim and behaving like a pedophile. he abused his authority and and acted like a dog in heat. i really dont care if he is gay, whatever, between him and god. my issue is lying about it, ruining someone else over it, asking his victim to lie about it and then acting like he didn’t really do a whole bunch wrong. he is a liar and as such should be given the blago treatment.

From his descriptions… far more than I wanted to know, but whattaya gonna do when you’re waiting for the local weather… doesn’t sound like he was tricked or forced. In fact, quite excited to be the boy toy of a Portland politician (who wasn’t a mayor at that time…) Says he chose to keep quiet to protect Adams.
Is the kid a victim? I doubt it. Technically 17 year olds are not adults. But then again, they are within months of being let loose into the world as a possible working adult… or a hazing frat or sorority type. If knowing what is basically right from wrong… or wise from really really dumb… isn’t built into their psyche by then, chances are it never will be.
@MataHarley: i understand what you are saying, really do, just the preditory nature of it gets me. i don’t live in portland, up the road a bit though and can’t believe how freakish that city has become. there are some great areas, but hey its portland. just get very pissed at the lefts holier than thou attitude on everyting and then this stuff keeps coming out. the gay people i know are pretty disgusted by this, they think it reflects badly on them as a whole. most homophobes already think all gays want to have sex with them and then rape their kids(only the most severe homophobes), and this kid of stuff reinforces that belief. i see alot of junk on the news, usually obama praise waiting for the weather also. love the weather, and the sports.
