Terrorist Penpals

As the President-elect’s administration weighs what to do with the detainees remaining at Guantánamo, the pressure is mounting from advocacy groups. For years, some organizations have taken an extreme approach, telling the detainees’ stories in the most favorable manner possible — ignoring evidence of their ties to terrorism, while magnifying nearly every allegation of abuse whether it is valid or not. The result is a picture of Guantánamo that is clearly distorted. Most inmates are portrayed as obvious innocents who are tortured by an American government run amok.

This is SO true. It’s all about anti-Bush politics and trying to present the idea that the US Govt is run amok by GWB. The thing is…the detainees are Obama’s problem now. He may WANT to close Gitmo (as did Pres Bush who stated so repeatedly), but it’s not that simple.

No one wants the bad guys from Gitmo. Not Australia, not Canada, not the UK, not Europe, not Kansas, not Illinois, no one. So where do you put em? Send em to Afghanistan or Pakistan or Yemen, and they’re either gonna be killed or let loose to kill Americans again. Send em to any state in the U.S., and they’re gonna be treated worse as well as risk putting that state and the other prisoners at risk.

Kill em? Nah, no one’s gonna do that.

Life in prison? Where? Gitmo? Isn’t that what’s going on now, and if it was wrong under GWB, then will it be ok under The Infallible One?

Sorry, that last question was stupid-I know. Of course it’ll be ok under Obama. No one really cares about these guys. They were just political tools to attack GWB. Now…they’re useless. Maybe that’s why the question of their fate is so much more dire now.

I get a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about these thugs on Huff. post than on CNN. They’ve served their purpose and would only be an awkward embarrassment for Hussein. The silence will be deafening.

  2. Its our fear that Obama will put them into the civilian courts where they will be freed, and or return them back to their homelands. Like Al-Nashiri who helped to bomb the USS Cole which killed our son. Every day I respond to “alerts” from the ACLU and other bloggers on this topic. The hate mail I get back is unbelievable. These Americans are fanatics. I try to show them where all the proof is concerning the scumbags that are locked away at Gitmo, but they refuse to listen to me. They would rather beat GBuus and the VP up and scream about torture. They ingore that facts that some of these terrorists killed or helped to kill Americans and other people.
Its sickening. Move America Forward .org has a petition that you can sign to keep Gitmo open.
Senator John Cornyn from Texas is working to stop Gitmo from closing to. he has been a real help to us. I even get emails telling me that I should ashamed because my testimony at Gitmo helped to put “a simple video producer” “al-Bula” behind bars for life. He made the video that celebrats the bombing of the Cole, and shows the IDF killing Arabs. I don’t feel ashamed at all. I feel great! I hope I get to go to Al-Nashirs trail if I am well too. I would love to see that piece of trash get life. They would never give him death. Sign the petition please! Or email Cornyns office!

This is like the way the ‘homeless problem’ suddenly cleared up and was no longer weekly front page “NEWS” the day after B-J got elected

  4. @Gary G. Swenchonis:

Gary Thank you for sharing your story and reminding us that many families all over the U.S. have been touched by senseless tragedy as a result of the actions these monsters detained at Gitmo choose to undertake.

I signed the petition to keep Gitmo open:

    http://www.moveamericaforward.org/index.php/MAF/petition/SaveGitmo

As for the people sending you hate mail for daring to tell the story of your son, these people hate themselves. They are unable to deal with their own self loathing so they externalize it and hate their country, or conservatives or any other useful target.

It’s fair to say that a few of these hatemongers are alive today because President Bush took the actions he did in detaining and interrogating these monsters at Gitmo.

I wonder if some of these America haters would offer to host one of these detainees as guests in their own home? And why do these poseurs on the topic of human rights stay silent to the REAL torture and inhuman conditions that Fidel Castro’s political prisoners endure just miles away from Gitmo?

The detainees at Gitmo have grown fat on a menu that one might find at a resort hotel. They have better health care than many Americans. Board games, library books, Korans and prayer rugs are all supplied by the American taxpayer (ever hear of a federal agency buying bibles for Americans?).

Is it any wonder that a number of Gitmo inmates don’t want to leave?

  6. Thank for the reply Mike and siging the petition. And yes I do agree with what you stated. And yes the Gitmo terrorists are treated with kid gloves, even better that our Federal convicts and they have it good. I saw and watched the terrorists at Gitmo. They want for nothing but their freedom. And that is the whole point of a prison.

Why should Australia take prisoners captured by the US?

The US caught them – it’s the US problem. Either release back to their country of origin, try them in a US court or rehouse them in the US.
