Blagojevich (D) Impeached…..Finally!

They’ve finally done it:

In a dramatic display of anger and solidarity over a political scandal that has made Illinois a national laughingstock, lawmakers on Friday voted 114-1 to impeach disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

It’s the first time in the state’s history that the Illinois House has voted to impeach its governor, notes CBS station WBBM.

The action sets the stage for a state Senate trial on whether Blagojevich should be thrown out of office for corruption and abuse of power. It is unclear when those proceedings will actually get underway.

Blagojevich plans to make a statement at 2 p.m. CST.

House members found evidence that the two-term Democrat had abused his power, including improperly spending tax money, adopting programs without legislative approval and violating state hiring laws.

Granted, this is just the first step in this show. It’s akin to a indictment, and a new Illinois House is going to be seated which means they will need to re-vote on this matter. After which a Senate trial is supposed to take place and there is another BUT…..the Governor is the one that convenes the Senate.

Have your popcorn ready? I have a feeling this is just the opening act, a warm up if you will, for what we have in store for the next four years. Chicago style politics can get real ugly.

    While the House was voting to impeach, the Gov. went jogging. He said that his trial in the Senate will be before a “real judge” so *his* side will get out, he doesn’t appear to be worried at all. Quite a guy we have here.

    The old saying MissY; If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS. I think the governor of IL is full of BS….and is trying to baffle (bluff) his way out. This should be good. Now, will it splash back on BHO or not…..I hope so, it should, but I for one doubt it

    Note to Palin haters:
    This is what it looks like when a Governor has actually abused his Gubernatorial power.

    @Lorraine:

    Obama was my senator, Blago is almost a *was* my governor. It’s been a disappointment that Obama’s past did not catch up to him before the election. I don’t look forward to the state of the country should his participation in ugly Chicago politics eventually come to light. It will take all we have to watch over him as he tries to manage this country through the wars, the financial mess as well as protecting the homeland against terrorists. Headaches, we will all have headaches. That said, I firmly believe he is a crook and doesn’t deserve to be where he is today.

    This blog was the former Rezko Watch, they have an interesting link–What the RBO reads at the top of their page. I got a kick out of this entry because I enjoy John Kass, he knows the politics of Chicago inside and out.

    Chicago politics at it’s finest. In time it will catch up with Obama as investigations will reveal.
