Other first ladies were not compensated because there is no compensation allocated for them, never was. We elect a president, not a first lady.

As for paying for their food, they all have. Perhaps by paying for their own food the Obamas just may realize what their policies are doing to the average consumer

I don’t see an issue with her being compensated. I think there are many people who do not have adequate information about the perks of being in the White House. Contrary to popular belief, while presidential familes live there without paying rent, they have to pay for their food and certain other amenities. In other words, their stay there is not entirely free.

With that having been said, I think majority of you people who have made these nasty comments should realize that what you have to say carries no weight and you are undermining your own credibility. Michelle Obama is SUPPOSED to be in the White House because her husband was elected president. Whether you like it or not, she is there. Get over it. God placed them there for a reason and I thank Him every day for doing so. The Obamas are what this country needs right now. If other first ladies elected not to receive a salary, that’s on them. If there is a segment of the population that feels that she needs a salary, then perhaps it is worth looking into.

I would also like to add that Michelle Obama does indeed have taste. I would also add that you should all be careful about any potentially defamatory remarks that are posted. I have yet to hear that she lost her law license for insurance fraud. I would pay Michelle to move out of the White House. What a disgrace for your country that woman. She has no class, no taste (just look at what she wears), she looks like a football player and she is as corrupted as her husband. She lost her licence to practice law due to an insurance fraud.

Some might think I am being racist, well think again. Here in Canada, our Governor General is a black woman, Michaelle Jean, and everybody is proud of her. She represents us very well in the world. She is brillant, beautiful, charismatic, dresses well and she has class. She is a plus to our country and she is polyglot. And BTW, I also admire Condoleezza Rice.
