Harry Reid – Don’t Let A Republican Into That Illinois Seat

Harry Reid classy as ever:

The momentum for a special election to replace President-elect Barack Obama ran into a major hurdle late this afternoon in the form of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) who penned a letter today to scandal-tarred Gov. Rod Blagojevich making clear he would prefer the incumbent step aside and let Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn make the appointment.

“It is within the authority of the Illinois legislature to remove your power to make this appointment by providing for a special election,” wrote Reid in a letter obtained by The Fix. “But a decision by you to resign or to step aside under Article V of the Illinois Constitution would be the most expeditious way for a new Senator to be chosen and seated in a manner that would earn the confidence of the people of Illinois and all Americans.”

Reid adds that his preference for an appointment by Blagojevich’s successor rather than a special election is driven by his belief that it is “imperative” that a new senator from Illinois be seated as soon as possible. An appointment by Quinn, a Democrat, also avoids the possibility that Democrats could lose the seat in a shortened special election campaign.

The timeline being floated in Illinois political circles would be for party primaries to take place on Feb. 24 with a general election on April 7 — a schedule that would leave the Senate seat vacant for at least three months.

Just friggin classy. Why let the Illinois people pick its successor when one of the established members of the Chicago corruption machine can do it instead.

But what do you expect. This is the representative of the people who complained about how those same people smelled:

“My staff tells me not to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway,” said Reid in his remarks. “In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it’s true.”

Classy Harry.

Election or not: Without thorough outside investigation, its a hostage situation.

As Crook county goes, so does the “Land of Lincoln”; As its population is concentrated there.
Circa 2000, the voting machines of Crook County were vended by Sequoia Systems; A “peoples republic” of Venezuela company. Apparently since, politics has evolved from dead people voting, to dead people holding office, to the annointing of heirs to their offices. The Crook County board president is a case in point. What a show: Comedic for outside observers, tragic for those who reside there.

Where is that “special prosecutor” when a case is begging for one? We could really use some house cleaning before the next rubber stamping, er, “election.”

Party over country … The only thing good about the McCain legacy.

Democrats — Corruption, Nationalism, and Propaganda. It’s all they have. When their media parrot takes it’s last swan dive to the mat, then what.

Give us The Reagan style of Republicans and these elections wouldn’t even be close. Keep giving us McCains, and all is lost. The situation is worse than what we see, this corruption is very wide spread. How many city Reps. in Detroit under F.B.I investigation, New Jersey. All are under Democrap governance and have been for years. The Attorney General should be elected so that there are no party shenanigans in the rule of law.

what really gets me is how arrogant they all are about the whole corruption thing, its like they are saying haha you can prove it but you won’t get us all. we know pretty much who was involved and we know pretty much who knew and there isn’t a whole lot that will be done about it. politics as a whole needs a good house cleaning. just like there are a few bad cops that end up soiling the reputation of them all its the same with politics. i know they aren’t all corrupt, but its really hard to know who to trust. and for reid to say the things he has said, well he is showing what a tool he is. and yeah, people can get stinky when its hot, its not like we all smell like roses and can always have our asses stuck in a nice air conditioned building. its those smelly people that make this nation work, they are the ones that built this nation with their smelly sweat. try shampooing someones hair who has had lots of garlic and onions for lunch and they are telling you all about their day, you try and breathe through your mouth and keep going, we all can be stinky at times.

Just before the election, Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose had a fascinating on-air conversation conceding how little they knew about Obama, his policies and politics. “We really don’t know him,” Brokaw confessed.

I was one of the viewers throwing stuff at my TV and shouting, “Then why don’t you ask him, Tom?” Well, it’s too late now.

Six weeks after the election, we’re finally meeting Barack Obama, Chicago-style.

I believe Pat Quinn favors a temporary appointment “placeholder” until a special election.

Last I checked, Reagan kicked your ass, BAD. In fact, Bush sr. got into office based on Reagan’s performance.
Only an ignorant moonbat like CRAP would think Thompson is a Reagan Conservative. He simply wasn’t and didn’t seem to care about running.
