Project Valour-IT Donation Drive To Help Out Our Servicemen and Women In Need

I’m way late to the game on this one but there is still a few days left to help out a good cause. Soldiers Angels is once again holding a fundraising drive to help out our military men and women in need:

Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries. Technology supplied includes:

  • Voice-controlled Laptops – Operated by speaking into a microphone or using other adaptive technologies, they allow the wounded to maintain connections with the rest of the world during recovery.
  • Wii Video Game Systems – Whole-body game systems increase motivation and speed recovery when used under the guidance of physical therapists in therapy sessions.
  • Personal GPS – Handheld GPS devices build self-confidence and independence by compensating for short-term memory loss and organizational challenges related to TBI and severe PTSD.

How they do it is to promote a bit of a rivalry between military blogs. Since I’m a Marine you know to my Marines have to be front and center:

Especially since we are getting our butts kicked by Army who has raised 29 grand.

So please consider donating a few bucks to help out our heroes in need. As Laughing Wolf at Blackfive said, they need our help. They rose to the occassion when their country needed them, now its time to pay it back:

We need you. Valour-IT isn’t a feel-good-because-you-slapped-a-sticker-on thing, it’s a chance to make a real, tangible, and lasting positive impact on someone who paid blood price for you to enjoy life, the holidays, and freedom. It’s a chance to do right by those who have done right by the Republic and the body politic. It’s the chance to do right. Period.

So, please, step forward and be counted. It’s not us that need it, it’s them.
