I didn’t really mind that much getting caught in the moderator filter once in a while before, but the new one was a bit frustrating when I would hit send and everything I wrote would just vanish. Kind of a pain, trying to remember everything I had just typed with some of the long posts I’m admittedly prone to LOL. What was also weird with the captcha filter is the word pairs sometimes looked like they included punctuation & sometimes included caps mid-word. Lost a couple of entries to that too until I just gave up and started using the log in every time.

It also looks like the fly-by troll posts have dropped down quite a bit compared to before the election. But of course we posters had the option to ignore those not worth responding too. Glad Craig has accepted that he need not respond to every one of them, it was obviously getting his blood boiling, but it appears he’s calmed down and it’s good to see he’s still around as our foreign friends do get insights into the issues we may not be aware of due to our country’s media screening processes.

I too have been frustrated with the spam filters. Some times I just say open the floodgates and let all the garbage in and then I get tired of sorting through it all.

The troll problem is a separate issue and it’s one that probably occupies more time behind the scenes with the contributing authors than any other.

I like the idea of a registered members site but like Wordsmith, had trouble with the logins at a few of them and no longer comment there because it was too much trouble.

So I guess I come down on the side of a more open process that also has it’s limitations and just try and keep Yonason’s comments out of the spam filter as much as we can.

P.S. Aye: Did you miss Custer’s comment a while back nominating me for President because I don’t take no s#$t from the lefties?

@Wordsmith: Politics, for me, are what a sports season are for others. We all have our favorite teams, and root for them with passion. Election Days are my Superbowls! Of course, the passions run even greater because with politics, the outcomes affect our lives directly. I think many times our perspectives our different, based on what our needs are. Those in “fly over country” lead very different lives than those of us on the coasts. For instance, someone in AZ has a very different use for their guns than those who have them here in NYC – thus, my stance on gun control is what it is.

Tempers and passions may run high, and there have been some here (at times myself included) who resort to ad hominem rhetoric. But, overall, I feel a mutual respect even in our strong disagreements.

So thank you.

Also, what do the readers think of only allowing those logged in to comment, just like the big guys ie. Hot Air and LGF?

Speaking for my own habits, I’m too lazy to register and log in at those places; I once had registered at the Anchoress, but ran into login problems with wordpress and didn’t have the patience to resolve it. So I just leach off of those sites without leaving behind my footprint.

As one of your “token liberals” here, I can offer the same praise for this site. I find that the vast majority of commentators here are well informed, civil, and offer a formidable challenge to my own perceptions. I’m able to fine tune my rhetoric, see the other side, and sometimes even change my stance.

That said, I have no problem logging into your site, if you’ll continue to have me.
