Too bad he could neither fully explain how it worked nor persuasively argue why it was better than Barack Obama’s plan. Also too bad since his plan would have smartly reduced healthcare costs by getting companies out of the healthcare benefits business and empowering individuals to buy insurance on their own. This would have helped fix what economist Arnold Kling calls the insurance vs. insulation problem: “Insulation relieves the patient of the stress of making decisions about treatment. The patient also does not have to worry about shopping around for the best price. The problem with insulation is that it is not a sustainable form of healthcare finance.”

Welcome to your new reality as a dying political party. Kick out the bigots, stop making fiscal conservative an oxymoron, and realize that strong on national defense doesn’t mean never admitting a mistake and you just might make it back someday.

Actually, Fit, it appears the “conservatives” decided to vote for your guy because he campaigned on the conservative issue, “tax cuts”. Naturally, he was lying… since by the time he reinstates Clinton’s tax values, then adds on his health insurance, energy and education programs… none of which operate on a smile… the taxes will be going up.

But the point is, conservatism is alive and well for the US electorate. And they thought they voted for it, instead of a lying politician (is there any other kind??) There just are no conservative politicians running, and we plunks in the WH the candidates we have… not the candidates we wished we had.

But this loss is, IMHO, good. Because either the GOP returns to it’s platform of conservatism, or it will die as virtually indistinguishable from the big spending, big govt progressive socialist party the DNC has become. The Dems, however, are also doomed if they continue to push the socialist domestic “redistribute the wealth” agenda. Because this nation is definitely bipartisan in not wanting a socialist country.

As for the “bigots”? You got more than your fair share in your party, who loves to be intolerant while holding up the banner of tolerance. Fairness doctrine comes to mind as the most obvious of late….

Your comments on “admitting a mistake” have nothing to do with national security. There may be errors in the battles’ prosecution, but there are with all military theatres.

But Bush doesn’t feel liberating Iraq was a “mistake” and neither do I. And I am not alone in this opinion. So if your waiting for an apology for that, hold your dang breath. Or look to your new commander in chief, who was plenty willing to apologize for America to the world during his campaign. I’m betting those rhetoric days are over, now that he’s in the driver’s seat. Nothing like a dose of reality to get one to remove his foot from mouth.

But on the thread subject…. yup… absurd to judge a guy who’s done nothing but give a few people an offer for a new job. But then, it was absurd to fawn over a guy who’s done nothing to date but raise and spend lots of other people’s money. But maybe the adoring media was going thru Obama’withdrawal syndrome.

North Korea. Clinton cut a deal with them on the nukes. They promptly broke it. The Clinton admin knew about it and did nothing.

Somalia-Clinton cutting an running only emboldened OBL and other terrorists. Now they have a new base of operations. Bush has been trying to help change that.

Afghanistan–When it sank into civil war, Billy boy did nothing. The Northern Alliance was worth supporting, but he was too busy getting BJs to care. Thanks to his carelessness OBL and the Taliban found a home where they operated freely.

Obama wanted America destroyed period. If it hadn’t been our troops as claimed, it would have been our support of Israel. Those are called excuses. You know, what you’ll be doing for obama soon.

These are facts. Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean they aren’t.

Spare us your phony patriotism. We know how you really feel. If it was a Rep that was president you would be blaming him for 9/11.

Sorry, still just opinion. It’s debatable Carter’s Iran debacle has anything to do with 9/11. North Korea and Somalia? It’s also debatable our actions in the eighties empowered bin Laden and if the decision to leave troops in Saudi after Desert Storm was a motivating factor. It’s debatable whither or not more should have been done after the “bin Laden determined to strike U.S.” memo.

I blame the nineteen terrorists and those who aided them. That is only my opinion and that is a fact.
